What Are you

Well, this was kind of boring, in Kendra's opinion. He hadn't moved and no one seemed to look at him either like he could control it. She wasn't sure what he was capable of but they had to think twice about attacking him outright. He was powerful and had taken out whole groups of beings far more powerful than any human was. She kind of zoned out for a moment and in that moment he'd approached but she had not heard him. He moved silently.

"What are you?" Kendra nearly jumped out of her seat at the sudden deep voice next to her ear. She turned in the stool she sat on and met the green gaze there. She felt like a deer in headlights for a moment, her heart beating a mile a minute. How had she not been aware of him? It wasn't like she hadn't been paying attention. Even for that moment of zoning out, he had an aura about him. This man was a mystery, wasn't he?

His eyes weren't normal, they almost looked reptilian with the slits but they were an amazing green color. His hair was a mix of dark colors up close and he was on the taller side as well, and ripped. Clearly physically fit and strong, she could see it just with what he was wearing. Oh hot damn he was good-looking, damn it all the crazy killer ones were. It seemed to come with the territory. And of course, she seemed drawn to it. In her head, she scolded herself for the instant draw.

Seriously though this man shouldn't be hiding in back allies. He was flawless and everything woman in her responded. She reminded herself that it was what he was, it always was, but she was so deprived of reacting to the opposite sex that this hit her rather hard. She had to tell herself that it was what she was told to ignore. She kind of wanted to just go with her response. Not so good, she didn't know what he was capable of remember? The response was strong and made her frown.

'I'm sorry what?"

"You heard me." Well wasn't he just mister congeniality? His tone said he didn't like others playing stupid.

"Sorry no, guess I didn't." He looked at her, he seemed amused for a second.

"What. Are. You?" He asked it slowly like she was stupid. He was so close to her, she felt like closing the distance rather than away. He had this kind of air, as power swirled around him and drew you in. She wanted to touch him to see that he was real. If she was being honest that moment there felt like a mate response she'd heard of. However that didn't seem plausible, she wasn't exactly a common creature and he was definitely not a homunculus.

The longer in his presence though the more her mind was shifting and not in a good direction. It was exciting to her to know that she could respond. Oh thank the god that was there, she wasn't a freaking nun. She could kiss this man for bringing it to her attention which internally made her laugh. But she cleared her mind, back to the fact of why they were following him. Riley would be pissed if he knew she was thinking more about her personal problems than the task at hand.

"You tell me what you are first." He eyed her, and he wasn't worried that she could do anything to him. He was silent and seemed to take a deep breath for a moment and let it go looking confused. However, he did not answer her question. He was very clearly studying her though.

"I don't enjoy being watched nor followed."

"I'm sure that most people don't enjoy being burned alive either," Kendra said this very low and no one was close enough to hear.

"I'm sure they don't, wouldn't know I can't burn." Well, that would be kind of nice. Also rather informative of him to say. But seeing what he could do it wasn't a surprise. So she was thinking of the next move to make here. She had a feeling that he didn't act against the group because he was trying to figure them out first. He was smart and went about things in a certain way.

"We just want to be sure that you aren't a complete danger to us." He moved against the bar for a second watching her.

"How about you tell your human friends to back off and leave me alone or they will find out what a real danger I can be."

"You know I think that is where you are going wrong. Humans don't like to be threatened, they will come after you for sure then." She didn't think he was being very smart about this part. He didn't give a shit what humans thought.

"Then I guess I'll have to visit them. I'd care more if they hadn't killed my kind." She reached out in reaction to the anger, needing to calm with her touch. She touched his arm just doing what she always did. She didn't think about it, it was instinctive to her. It was her talent, why she was always able to calm others and have them cooperate. It wasn't that she was trying to do something to him. Kendra just did it as was her way.

For a second he did calm, did relax. She felt a second presence there that was alarmed at what she'd done. He jerked his arm away from her.

"Touch me again like that, I'll break your hand off." She blinked. What was that other presence? It was strong, just like his aura was. Very powerful, he was alone, wasn't he? That presence said otherwise and Kendra was just shocked. It was like nothing she'd felt before and in his gaze for a second he seemed just as shocked. Like her ability to do that to him was something he'd never had before.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean it as harm. It's what I do, I'm drawn to do it." Kendra said. She was trying to figure out that second presence. He moved from her then, she was a little relieved. He'd looked rather angry for a moment. The tension there, and seeing she knew how volatile he could be…

"You have my warning," he said and left the bar. Kendra sat there for the moment just kind of lost. She looked down at her hand. The short interaction made something inside her jump. Suddenly with him gone it oddly felt like a hole was there. She let her hand slide on the bar where he'd leaned and frowned still feeling the heat from his body there. Just what was this man?

__Xerxes__

Xerxes found the woman interesting, she was calm and collected. Had a sharp wit about her. She wasn't like other women who seemed enthralled when he spoke to them, or at least human women. He'd been trying to figure out what she was and it just hung there like he knew but couldn't remember the word.

When she'd touched him, he felt that rush of relief through his body. The release of tension and that everything was okay. She could calm and control with a touch, and it had been kind of addicting to feel like your worries were gone. To believe that another could understand and want to release that tension, but she was working with the enemy. Oh, what a talent to have on your side.

On the heels of that feeling, she gave arousal, not such a good thing when you didn't know what your enemy was. Zani had taken the sudden shift in his body chemistry as something else and become alarmed going on alert, ready to attack. Xerxes now moved out into the street and hurried down the walkway losing the tail there, humans were easy to lose. He'd just left that strange female in the bar thinking.

'Where are we going?' Zani asked noticing Xerxes' strange reaction. That he was a bit more off-balance for some reason. Zani had not seen that kind of effect either. Especially on Xerxes, only another dragon should be able to cause that. The woman was not a dragon.

'Someplace to calm down.' That simple touch had done something to him, he wasn't used to that uncontrollable reaction. It wasn't that he was angry about it, it was more that he didn't know what to do about it. Xerxes had truly never experienced it before. It was kind of… exhilarating, but dangerous if that woman could manipulate others like that.

'Why do you need to calm down? That was a very strong reaction. Go back and use her, that was a head rush like no other. You haven't reacted like that in a very long time. I can't react, I get to feel it through you, I suddenly want sex.' Way to be a blatantly honest dragon. Yeah, so their age played a factor. Zani was clearly poking at him as well to get a reaction.

'Shut up you asshole, you're feeding me.' Which he was even though he half wanted to laugh at Zani's comment. His female was still an egg remember?

'I can't help it, did you figure out what she was? Maybe she's a succubus.' Zani mentally stated.

'No, she didn't have the demon feel to her. They don't affect us like that.'

'Well alright then, not a demon. Please tell me why we are still heading in the opposite direction Xerxes.'

'I don't socialize with humans no matter the reaction.'

'Uh I beg to differ, who else is there to use? She had a scent about her, bet she'd taste nice too.'

'What is your damage? Why are you so suddenly revved up?'

'Because you're so pissed off at your reaction you don't realize just how bad it is. I'm part of you right now, and the rush of adrenaline through me is intoxicating. Let's either kill something or find a female hmm? That has been a while for you. An extremely long while, I think you are quite frustrated Xerxes and that touch made you realize it.' Zani stated in a rather tart tone. His other half was being stubborn.

"Get off of me." Xerxes snapped having stepped into the trees.

'So we're killing something then?' He asked. 'Because if you think I'm sitting here feeling like this and doing nothing you're wrong. Don't you be running off either on me if you choose number two?'

"Just go kill something so you stop badgering me." Xerxes had never had something like that happen it was so sudden and so fierce. He was trying to think, he'd only meant to tell her to have them back off. Something was off about her now that she'd touched him he knew it. What was she? If he didn't know better he'd say it was similar to a mate. However, she wasn't like him so that didn't seem probable. If she was like him a chi or dragon then he'd recognize right away. She wasn't, and it didn't seem to fit right.

He should know what she was, it was important he felt it. Well, he felt something and Zani was right, it had been some time. Maybe he was just that deprived, he looked where Zani had disappeared and he could hear him chasing something down. He was way too overzealous and making a lot of noise. Leaping around like a fool, but it gave Xerxes a giddy feeling.

He'd hate to see him if he really had a mate, good lord he'd probably cause her serious damage. Just pounce on her, perhaps being so deprived was not such a good thing. He'd just been too stunned at the sensation to be able to think much about it. He did know that over time sexual attraction had dropped off steeply in him. Zani was a huge reason for it, he didn't feel attraction like a human. Zani's body was only meant to react to his mate, Xerxes could react, but being older now it wasn't the same. Xerxes had a little more leeway but with his age, he thought that changed. Maybe he shouldn't have run away, after all, she might know things that he could use. Maybe it would be nice to pretend for a short while.

'Hey, idiot you done yet?'

'Hey cock blocker, go fuck yourself.' Xerxes let out a good laugh.

'Just what is a cock blocker anyways?' He'd never heard that combination of words come out of Zani's mind before and it was rather funny. Human sayings, he was obsessed with them. Zani just made an annoyed sound.

'Fine, I'm going to find out more about this group and that woman. There is something important that I'm missing here.' Xerxes said and moved off heading in the direction that he knew they were staying. His mind was very chaotic as he tried to figure out the reaction he just had. Plus Zani's response didn't honestly make sense. That meant the woman might be dangerous to them.
