Plan of Action

"How do you think we should proceed?" Bryce asked, looking at Riley. Kendra had told them those she had spotted on the street. Kendra said she had to see them, seeing a home wasn't the same as seeing the people. After all this time you'd think that they would understand how things worked for her more.

Kendra was starting to admit that Xerxes words to her were starting to make a lot of sense and be a lot more appealing. Funny how you seemed to live your live just going numb and accepting of the things that were wrong. Then one day someone opens your eyes and you finally start to wake up and stand up.

"Why don't you just send out a signup sheet?" Kendra said half heartily, moving her pencil in a circle on the table. She pushed a stray strand of hair behind her ear. The rest of her hair was up in a ponytail, it was cool in the house and most of them had on warm clothes.

"Be helpful Kendra, not stupid." Kendra looked up at Riley who was thinking. Lang was standing there as well, seeming to think.

"There is no helpful, Sir." She said snidely. "Once you attack, they will come back at us. They aren't worried about us knowing they exist, because we already do." this should be obvious. With this assignment Kendra could truly see that her group was not trying to help. It seemed like they were trying to rule, to make the supernaturals submit.

"She's right, you know." Jin agreed, indicating Kendra. "After all they have gone after you a couple times."

"It's only a matter of time before they come to take care of it. Kendra's dragon friend has already told her that much. Since we aren't going to back off." Kendra just looked at Riley.

"He did have a point, he could have attacked first but didn't." Kendra commented avoiding once more using Xerxes name. It felt wrong, and she did not want them to know she's spoken to him more than they were aware. "He gave us the option." Derrick commented where he sat.

"He's been attacking people, feeding from them and killing. There's no point listening to him." Lang said. "He will come after us eventually, we are too much of a threat."

"Together maybe, but so far it seems to me that he and others have been more weeding out people than just killing indiscriminately." Derrick said gesturing to the board on the wall with different information that they were using at the moment.

"Supernaturals still need humans, their goal would just be to have those that are easily controlled or manipulated." Lang injected.

"Or easier to simply coexist with." Kendra commented to Linda's statement. Tensions were starting to run rather high here. They were all on edge just waiting for the attack to come.

"There has been no movement up at the mountain for some time. He hasn't been spotted in this area either. Though there has been reports in a couple cities to our east. We've been eyeing the best route up there." Ky remarked tapping his chin, his accent more noticeable than the others.

"That is a very bad idea." Kendra said. "Going up there is like signing a death warrant. I can tell you that much." She wasn't just warning them that it was stupid. For some reason she could not name she felt defensive about them trying. That she very much needed to discourage them. She couldn't tell you where this sensation was coming from It was just important to something deep inside Kendra. Like it was important to her as well.

"Which means that he must have something up there of great importance, or it is of great importance to him and the dragon. Therefore we should find a way up there. Any other possibilities of getting in there from a different way?" Kendra just stared at Riley.

"I'm here to make sure you keep the hostiles under control and calm. Just what do you think is going to happen if you piss him off? Can you really combat a fully grown dragon, he can clearly change size. Who knows how big he really is, or his power." Kendra stated.

"You know she has a legitimate claim there." Lee said piping up. "I mean, let's remember how he tossed Jin through that wall." Jin looked a little put off by the comment. He clearly hadn't expected Xerxes to have the power he did. Kendra kept the name to herself, she didn't need them thinking she was too friendly.

"I can tell you now that being drained alive isn't as fun as it looks, and they can do things we don't know about." Kendra didn't see why they were being so dense about this situation.

"Then we will have to rely a bit more on the three of you." Lang said looking at Niki, Kendra, and Jin in turn. He didn't attack Niki at all. Maybe he doesn't know, it could be an upper hand."

"He knows." Niki corrected him. "He looked right at me and I could see that he was judging me. To be honest I know that he is younger than me, but he is still old. Alone I don't know if I could hold my own against him, and definitely not them both together."

"Does anyone have good news, or an idea that can get us back on track? Back to controlling this sudden uprising." Riley started to raise his voice.

"Talking? Attempting some truce. It might be uneasy but the only real option." Kendra said. "Some of these species need us, we are their food source. It's like any specialist in the wild, they don't want to see their food gone or fighting back. It makes more work for them…"

"And then what, hand over people for these monsters to consume?" Kendel spoke up.

"You forget that there are human monsters. People that this world would be better off without, prisons that just hold vile beings. Think about the rest and then the few that could be used? It sounds heartless but there aren't many options if you want to look at it." Kendra said fed up with it all. That they were keeping human monsters alive and killing and capturing the innocent. What if the supernaturals and humans worked together for an understanding? Though that was a pipe dream wasn't it?

"That's out of the question." Riley said. "Besides, that kind of authority and reasoning isn't something that our organization could even approve." Kendra was kind of happy to hear that he wasn't all that upset about her saying it, more that her idea was just out of reach apparently.

"What if they just decide to make more of themselves to come after and control humans? Most of them can do it, not all. Of course we are talking about the rational beings, those who think and act like we do." Derrick said.

"They won't just go making others for the fun of it. At least the rational ones, irrational is a different story." Niki said. "The vast majority of humans can't cope with the change and then you are left with clean up. I have seen it many times, how minds snap under stress, or god complexes come over them with their found power. They forget that there are others still stronger than them, we don't like to have more trouble when humans are running around after our hearts anyways." His first real comment and it was annoyed.

"So humans are still things then? Do you think we should be controlled for our own good?" Carson snapped from where he stood. A new addition, though Kendra had met him before. She knew that his wife had been killed by a vampire.

"If you look at me like a thing, why should I see you any different?" Niki said calmly.

"These people aren't trustable, you have a vampire and a demon. And who knows what she really is, how do you know they aren't helping their kinds."

"That is exactly the reason other species hate humans, such a single minded approach. Me, I, us, never looking at it from the other side." Niki said. Kendra stood up narrowing her eyes, she agreed completely with Niki.

"What pisses you off more like the rest of those in this room, is that you have to admit that you need help from us." Jin said. "Humans don't like admitting they are lower on the totem pole than they want to be."

"Yeah well demons aren't much higher then. I'm pretty sure they are lower than most." Jin gave an eerie smile that wasn't really a smile. Kendra saw the way his eyes darkened.

"Come over here human and I'll show you how low you really are."

"They should have exorcized you rather than taking your help." Carson said and stepped forward.

"Enough!" Lang shouted. "Fighting amongst ourselves is not going to help. Now you two are both here willingly to help us. Humans or not because you have your needs and obligations. And Carson you would do well to remember that we do need help whether we want it or not. They are aware what will happen if they step outside the lines."

Kendra could feel the negative energy in the room and it was starting to affect her, she was starting to get odd flashes of things in her head from those bleeding their emotions the loudest.

"I think that we need to take a break." Kendra admitted as this was not productive. She needed to get out of this room. Most looked at her and she took a breath and continued.

"I can barely breathe in here with how strong the feelings are in this room. Everyone is worked up, angry or nervous about the fact we could be attacked. We aren't going to get anything done and I can tell you now, without a clear head you can't get anywhere." Kendra figured reason was the best course of action right now.

"I agree. We will break for now, and talk later." Lang said and Riley just gave a nod.

"We've been in here a while, take a little R and R, clearly we need a breather for some." His gaze moved from Carson to Jin and looked at several others. They filed from the room, but Lang called Kendra to a stop.

"Yeah?" She asked.

"I would like you to go out later with a few others to look around the area and talk to the others to see if maybe there is some kind of agreement we can come to. All-out war isn't good on either end." She was glad to hear that Lang thought so. Then again he could just want to get in with the enemy.

"I can try." Kendra said and he gave a nod dismissing her. Kendra didn't really want to stay inside with the others. Her mind and heart were shifting in where they wanted to be. She was polluted against them and she knew it. So the real question for her was how long was she going to keep pretending she cared?
