Power Gauge

They walked along the hall, many footsteps were clattering on the floor depending on the type of shoes each person wear.

"Where are we going now?" Kai asked Botan.

"I want you to meet a very important person".

Kai only shooked his head, some students in silk white kimonos were coming before them, their dressing was similar to Aoi's.

When they were closer, they stopped and bowed at Aoi, "Gozaimashita Aoi sensei".

Aoi smiled and she motioned them to stand. That particular action reminded Kai of Anko, they left and Aoi looked at Kai waiting for him to ask questions but Kai kept quiet.

"Here we are" Botan announced gently, he opened the glass door and they walked in.

A young man with glasses who was busy with papers on his desk looked up when the door clicked as it closes.

His face lit up, "Master Botan...Lady Aoi....." He trailed off when his eyes met Kai's, "Um...." He shook his head waiting for Kai to say his name.

"Oh..this is Kai... Kai Kikuchi pls" Aoi cleared him.

"Oh Kai", He adjusted his big glasses and got out from his counter, he let out his hands to shake Botan, "It's a pleasure to meet you, sir", he was all jumpy, "And..um..lady Aoi it's always an honour to meet a beautiful woman like you", he wriggled his hands continuously as he shakes Aoi.

Aoi let go of his hands because it was becoming sweaty.

He looked at Kai and smiled carelessly, "Call me Hunt". Kai nodded.

Botan clears his throat to get his attention, "We want to see the Hokage".

"The Hokage?, I don't think it's possible, he cancelled all schedules he has for god knows why".

"Tell him I brought the package".

"I can deliver it to him, all you need to do is to drop it and I'll take care of it".

"We want to see the Hokage and it's important" Aoi cut in sharply.

"This must be serious" Hunt mumbled, he went to his table and picked up the telephone, "Hello sir, Botan wants to see you, he said.." Hunt looked at him.

"A package".

"Oh, he said he has a package, sorry the package, I don't know if you might know....ok sir.. I'll let them in", He dropped the telephone back into its stand, "You can go and meet him".

"Thanks, Hunt" Aoi smiled.

"Anytime, lady Aoi" Hunt said in his cracking voice.

"This way" Botan led them to the Hokage office.

Knock knock...

"Come in Botan, be quick about that" A deep elderly voice sounded from the other side of the room.

The door creaked as Botan opened it.

"Gooday my lord" Botan and Aoi bowed, but Kai was still standing he was just confused, Botan turned and saw Kai standing, "Bow to the Hokage", Kai bowed but his eyes were up.

"It's ok all of you, just stand" The Hokage motioned them to sit.

"Have a seat pls".

There was silence in the office for a while as the Hokage looked at Kai.

Botan cleared his throat to kill the awkward silence in the office.

"Um..." Aoi looked at both men in the room, she found out nobody was ready to talk, and she found out that the Hokage wasn't sure about the decision he made by letting Kai into the Magisterium.

"Kai Kikuchi, right?" The Hokage finally opened up.

"Yes".

"You're the chaos bearer?".

"That's what they say," Kai said, he was just looking plain.

The Hokage laughed, "Then what's inside you?".

Kai twitched his eyebrows, "I have no idea".

"He has the chaos curse in him, my lord" Botan cut in sharply.

Aoi nodded confirming what Botan said, "I have seen it".

"When last did you manifest the chaos, Kai?" The Hokage asked again.

Kai flashed back to the night when he was attacked, "Last three nights I guess".

The Hokage looked at Botan and he nodded.

"Well, I'll like to check your power gauge".

Kai wondered what he meant by that, he looked at Botan "Power gauge?".

"Yeah, it shows how strong your power is and what rank you are," Botan told him.

"You will have to stand here" The Hokage motioned him to a large flat object that looks like a weight measurer with calibration of A to D.

Kai went over to the object, he climbed on it, "So.. what now?".

Immediately a hologram wall covered him from all angles, Kai became agitated.

"Don't freak out, it won't hurt just listen, place your fingers at the hologram thumbprints, use your right..".

Kai placed his finger on the hologram thumbprints that floated before him.

"...Now exert your power and it'll measure".

Kai went numb, he knew he couldn't exert his powers or summon them because he can't control them, his powers are only forced out due to memories or at crucial times.

Botan noticed how stranded Kai was, he whispered to the Hokage, "My lord, I don't think Kai can summon his powers now".

"How then does it comes out?".

"Memories, painful memories I guess," Aoi said, "But we shouldn't do that...".

"Memories?, that means his powers are forced out" the Hokage sat back, he thought for a while, "Let's tap into his memories then".

"What!" Aoi snapped.

"My lord, it's not advisable" Botan pleaded.
