Unexpected

In his deep consciousness, he dreamed of something from his past.

They were in the same garden they used to play at when they were younger. The young girl would run around there and would stumble on a small rock that had got in her way. She would crouch down and cry while the young boy would hold her hand while saying that it was okay.

There were these days when they used to sneak at night just to adore the moon from the attic. It's very beautiful and calms them.

The young boy and girl were always together. They told themselves that when they grow up, they will protect each other no matter what.

But fairy tales for kids didn't last long, just like the end of that dream when he opened his eyes.

Kiel finds himself on the sofa in his living room. There was a blanket on him, which he immediately pulled down.

"You've woken up so fast."

When the guy looked at her, she's not wearing her coat anymore and the sleeves of her blouse were rolled up to her elbow. She had this soup in a bowl in her hands, which surprised the male.

"What are you staring at?" Devyn rolled her eyes. "Eat this if you can move your hand," she said.

Surprised, Kiel just watched the smoke from the hot soup. "President, you don't need to do this." he insisted.

"Just shut up and eat," the lady glared at him. "You are under my responsibilities as my assistant. I don't want any other assistant, so make sure to get well immediately."

She took out this small container from a small paper bag. But before giving it to him, she needed to find the real cause of his fever.

"Are you feeling like this because of the party last night?" she asked.

Kiel looked at her. "It seems so. I already contacted my doctor, and he told me that it was because of the pheromones I inhaled at the party." He cut off his words, but the lady had a keen thought.

Devyn looked at him. "Those pills that Luca used have a very huge effect on you. Thinking that you inhaled the second effects with my pheromones." She put the small container on the table. "Luca gave me the antidote,"

Hearing the word antidote, Kiel got even more surprised. "President, you don't need to go to such length for me." he blurted out.

"Shut up, I'm doing this because I feel guilty, too!" Devyn exclaimed.

Silence.

"I'm sorry." Kiel mumbled.

He felt that he had got in the line. It's not his concern if Devyn did what she wanted and he can't even stop her, so asking her like this wasn't his place. They are not even that close to scold each other. He was her assistant, and the only thing he needs to do is to follow her commands.

"I apologized, President." he repeated.

"I didn't come here to listen to you apologizing 24 hours." Devyn rubbed her throbbing head. It somehow ached just by thinking about this situation.

She stood up. "Hurry and take the medicine. I can't even lift you up to your room. Geez! Stop giving me headaches." She picked up her coat and her bag.

"I will go now. Make sure to take care of yourself. See you in the office tomorrow, Mr Kiel."

The atmosphere d went back to the same way when he was alone. Kiel lowered his head back to the warm soup that was still in front of him. Thinking that it was Devyn who cooked it for him made his heart feel light.

"Thank you," he whispered, picking the spoon.

The next day the flow in the company came back when Mr Kiel went to work again. Miss Anna welcomed him back with a coffee as the two of them took the elevator.

"I'm glad you're okay now, Mr Kiel." The young lady blushed her cheeks.

The guy nodded. "Thank you for worrying for me, Miss Anna, and for delivering my excuse letter to the president." He checked his wristwatch.

He's now feeling well. The medicines that Devyn bought him yesterday really help him a lot. He was thankful for her, too. Today, he promised himself that he will make sure to finish the work that was left on him yesterday.

"Mr Kiel.." Miss Anna scooted closer. "Do you know how terrified I was yesterday when the president found out that you have a fever and didn't come to the company?" Her expression became devastated.

She clenched her sleeves. "I thought she was really going to kick me away, but I found out that she's just worried about you." she sighed. "The president must be treasuring you a lot, Mr Kiel."

Knowing that the lady was quite frightened, he apologized. "I deeply apologize, Miss Anna. you must have had a hard time dealing with her yesterday." He said.

The lady backed away and waved her hands. "It's fine, Mr Kiel. I am just doing my job." Her ears reddened. "But I would like to invite you to eat lunch with me, if that's okay?"

"I'm not sure if I can accompany you since I also have a lot of things to finish today." He honestly replied.

"Is that so?" she felt a bit shy, asking and getting an answer. Though she's already executing it. As expected from the workaholic guy she secretly adores.

Feeling the guilt, Kiel pondered for a while. "But can I invite Miss Anna for a coffee If I have free time these days? I also want to pay you back for filling in for me yesterday." He said.

The lady immediately sparkled back with her energy. "Really?!" she exclaimed, earning a nod from the man. "It will be my pleasure, Mr Kiel!"

The elevator opened.

Miss Anna stepped forward and waved her hand. "I will look forward to it, Mr Kiel!" then she moved to her office with a smile on her face.

Meanwhile, Kiel checked the schedule for today. He came from the lobby to talk to Devyn's partner for the month and came up to report back.
