CHAPTER 7

" How? " I spoke in shock as soon as our eyes connected.

My undivided attention was solely on her. I have never met anybody with the same eyes as mine, her's were glowing but she wasn't hiding it like me. Mine glowed occasionally when I had these conversations with El, but she hasn't been talking. I did want to leave this place as soon as possible. I wanted to have a life and most of all, I wanted to know about myself... I knew this couldn't just end here... I was here for a reason...

I was taught to hide, to be skillful, and most of all to stay in the shadows. I learned things from my father's journals, his writing that helped me shape up in the way I was. I didn't know much about myself except for the fact that I looked different and this world gets scared of different.

" I know who you are.... wake her, the one who's not talking and she can help." She whispered as if she didn't even want the walls to hear it. What does she mean by that? Is she talking about El... But how did she know?

" How?" I asked again, it looked stupid, the way I was repeating the question but my brain was all over the place with this...

Before she could answer, two guards opened the main door of the cellar and stepped inside. They stood in front of the old woman and spoke

" Stand up, The Queen demands your presence"...

No no no... she can't leave right now....

why only at this moment..... I was angry at my situation, but most of all I was angry with myself... I am always this close but then suddenly everything goes away as if it wasn't there to begin with. What had I done to deserve this...

The movement of the rusty metal caught my attention as the door was opened and one of the guards went inside to put a handcuff on her hands before unlocking her chained hands.

A chain was replaced with a handcuff.....

She was so old she couldn't possibly run away, then why... It didn't make any sense.... maybe it's not making sense to me because I don't know what's happening...

Once outside the cell, the old woman stretched her arms, gave me a once over just for a brief moment, and went away with the guards... Wake her up... How do I wake EL...

El...

Are you listening...

Please say something... I need you right now...

El, can you hear me...

It wasn't working, my talking wasn't working... After multiple attempts I slid down the walls as I gave up, I heaved a sigh... I was too tired to do anything at the moment. I was hungry, sleepy, and angry all things at the same time. Without giving it much of a thought, I laid down on the cemented floor and fell into a deep slumber.....

-----------------------------------------------------

I woke up to the sound of laughter...Where was I?? Oh right!! prisoned.... I sat up fixing my position as I took support from the wall behind me. I needed that nap after the few hours that I had earlier. So much had happened in such a short period. Now that I was up and fresh, my focus needed to be on what that old lady suggested that I do... There was something in the way she spoke. She had sharp features and she looked beautiful even for her age. Everything about her made me intrigued, I wanted to know more, I wanted to understand more of what she was implying.

There were, again, a lot of questions but barely any answers....

There was something about El that she knew which I wasn't aware of... Even El herself didn't or she would have told me. I knew I was different since the beginning but El was as clueless as I was... but she had been there through and through, She has seen me suffer, , she has seen my struggles to fight off people whom I call family. I was in a difficult place and she helped me in her best possible ways.

I needed her now... I knew she could help us out but I just didn't know how and I was planning to find out. I sat calm and composed focusing hard on what I was feeling. I wanted to speak to someone. I was desperate. My emotion laced in my voice as I spoke out to her through my mind...

I know you are in there El, I don't know how but somehow you have managed to save Nik and I am sure you can save me as well. This wouldn't be your first time...

Please talk to me...

whatever it is...

we can solve it together...

we are the best partners, you and I

I thought hard and continued...

I mean.... after nik and I, don't we make the best pair... I wondered where he was... I hoped he was safe...

....

....

huh...

I can't believe this... Of all the things that I have said, this is the one that caught your attention...

How can you put him first..... huh... I felt a smile on my face as I felt her presence inside me...

Thank god! you are back... Did you not hear when I said I missed you, Why didn't you answer me? Ignoring me as usual, she just replied with another question... Why the hell are you locked up?? Isn't it obvious!! Of course, I got caught, trying to get out of the castle.....

Anndd.... you are back with your sarcasm.... couldn't keep it in for too long...

ohh Please, I know you like me the way I am... By the way, how did you sleep even in here..... don't judge me I was tired okay.... now help me get out of here. I still have a lot of things to ask and tell you but after we are out of this stupid castle.....

ok then, let's get to work.... go, near the lock and touch it... I stood up and following her instructions, I went to the door and touched the lock. My eyes closed on their own as I felt the burn on my neck as something moved, I heard the scraping of the metal and I knew the door had opened.

How did you do this? I asked surprised.. I don't know I just feel you wanting me to do this and it just happens.

Do you mean to say I'm doing this.... technically yes, we are doing this together. I can't do it alone... This was a mystery that we needed to solve... But later...

For now... Let's leave this place, once and for all... Without giving it another thought, I slowly opened the door just enough to slide outside without making much noise. I tiptoed my way towards the exit and peeked at the bodyguards from the corner. Only one person was sitting on the chair talking on the phone. I heard his voice clearly as he said his shift was about to end in 10 minutes. He stood up and stretched... while I started panicking... Before I could move though, he started pacing back and forth in the corridor. This was the time to do anything and everything. No delays... I wished we could lull him to sleep, things would be so much easier.

I heard some movement from behind and I turned around quickly to notice that Anya was now standing holding her cell bars looking at me expectantly. Don't even think about it... WHat? We can't just leave her here... besides she can be helpful she has worked in the palace and she might know the exit...

You are justifying!! ahgainn!! I'm right though..... finnee... I walked towards her and repeated the process and the lock came undone.

and just like that, we were ready to leave.....
