Chapter eighteen

Marcus sighed tiredly and frustratedly before slumping into a nearby cushion.

He watched as Leslie crying expression changed into an happy one after Sophie left.

"Is she fired?" She asked her face full of smiles as she came to sit beside him. And began rubbing his chest.

"No" he said. "Why are you smiling when you're just crying few minutes ago. Wait, don't tell me you lied" he asked pushing her hands off him.

"And what if I did?" She said and bursted out laughing.

"You lied? You made me do shout at her when she wasn't at fault."

"If course not.....I wasn't lying, she did everything I said she did. She deserves to be fired Marcus. Do not let her come here again."

"Leslie....if I ever found out that all you said was a lie, you don't be able to use that mouth of yours to ever say a word ever again" he stated angrily and stood up to leave for the stairs.

At first she sat there, clearly frightened. But she brushed it off again and ran after him.

"Marcus....that maid was rude and cunny. Why don't you just let her go."

"Shut up and get the hell out of my house" he told her as he got into his bedroom and locked the door.

**** ****

At first Sophie's mind was dumb with what had happened. Still finding it hard to believe.

She bursted into tears as soon as she got into her car, slamming her fists on the staring wheel and hurting her hands.

"Scumbags... scumbags...you both are scumbags. I'm a big fool" she cried, what was she thinking. That he'll support her and blame his fiancee or whatever she is?

" I'm a big fool" she cried out.

Minutes later she drove into her mother's yard. She cleaned herself up and combed her haur, she doesn't want her mother to get the bad impression about what had happened. She applied a little makeup to cover her red eyes and still red and stinging cheeks.

When she opened the door. Her mother was laughing. There was Dave sitting on her favourite couch in her mother's parlor and Camille sitting on the floor playing with her dolls. She forced a smile on her face when she saw her mother.

"Hey Mom" she greeted her mother and Camille ran to meet her.

"Mommy!"

"Hey big baby.....and how's your day?" She asked as she carried her into her arms and gave her a genuine smile.

"Good mommy"

She faced Dave who was already getting up to greet her.

"Hi Dave" she said dropping Sophie

"Sophie" he said dragging her into his arms for a hug. She hugged him back.

"How have you been doing."she asked when he let her go and get say down. She sat down beside him. And noticed her mother smiling sheepishly.

Her mom was mistaken. If it was what she was thinking.

"Great thank you. You sure have grown Bigger and more beautiful. I wouldn't have recognized you if I had passed you on the street"

Sophie smiled and nodded.

"Same goes to you. I hardly recognized you too"

Her mom stood up and grabbed Camille's hand.

"Hey Camille, wanna grab some cookies with me in the kitchen"

"Yesss. Graandma" Camille said happily as they both left the living room. Leaving only Sophie and Dave alone.

What's her mother doing?

"I've waited hours for you? Your mom told me you work as a maid for the owner of the Exclusive Club Company."

"Yeah....it's the only job that pays me, and I love it.....what do you do"

"Well, am a manager in one of those oil companies, how about dinner in one of those fancy restaurant tommorow night."

Dinner. Sophie thought, dinner with Dave seem like a good thing to do. To get her mind off Marcus for a bit.

"Sure, why not.ill call you when am ready."

"Ok, I'll come pick you up." He said and smiled standing up to leave.

"Mom!" Sophie called and her mother rushed out of the kitchen with Camille. Who ran into Sophie's arms again.

"I'll take my leave now" he told her mother as he made for the door.

"Ok my dear...bye drive safely." Her mom said pushing Sophie to see him off. Camille following her as she grasped her finger.

When they got outside, that was when she noticed the car parked few yards away.

She hadn't noticed it when she was coming in.

"That's your car?" She asked.

"Yes" he said laughing.

"Nice" she said as she smiled.

She picked up Camille in her arms and Dave patted her cheeks as he smiled warmly at her.

"Bye Camille" he said and waved at the little girl. She waved back. Smiling.

He winked at Sophie and she blushed.

"See you tommorow" he said and gave her a kiss on the cheek.

"Ok Dave" she said still blushing from his peck. He didn't have to do that. She thought as she watched him enter into his car and drove off.

She walked back inside with Camille resting her head peacefully on her shoulder.

All the while, a shadow lurked behind the dark corners of the walls, taking as many pictures as he can..... This will surely results a good pay. He thought.
