Chapter twenty four

Marcus could tell something was amiss with Stella's behavior. But he couldn't quite place his finger on it. Her behavior seems a little too sensitive. And she has never for once behaved like that since she'd been working for him.

About an hour later, she walked into his office. Some files in her hand.

"Sir, I did trace the number. But it seem there are few problems connected to it" she said, Walking over to his desk and placing the files in front of him.

"Okay?" He said for her to continue.

"We could trace the line to a certain place, the address..... Over here " she pointed to address on the file.

"Then, it was probably broken because we couldn't get its signal again. But I think we should look into this address as it was seen on the map. Don't you think? It may be someone you know"

"You Don't know what's going on.....do you?" He asked her when it seems she knew what was happening.

"No sir.....I don't, I only did what you asked me to do" She said playing dumb. She has her reasons for not wanting to expose Brian. If she do so now, there will be no evidences to prove all his bad deeds, and she hadn't caught him red handed yet. So she needed to be as sure as she can.

"Ok thank you.....I'll look into this myself."

After she left, he typed the address into his system, And it brought out the area.

"What?!" He exclaimed. This place was the house of his Ex, Stacy.

Was she the one behind all this? Or maybe it was mere coincidence?

Stacy! He thought angrily. Better hold your games to yourself, do not play them with me.

Stacy had never been more angry in her life. The plan hadn't worked. Brian had told her. And now he's planning on getting who the person is. Marcus was a smart man, she knew that. And he would find out sooner or later that she's behind it. But that will not stop her from doing what she had to do.

Her phone rang, And she checked the caller. Lo and behold it was her Marcus.

"Hello Marcus, how have you been...I hope....." She didn't complete her sentence before he stopped her.

"I won't say more than this so listen carefully, If you lay your fingers on just a strand of her hair. I promise you that we'll both die and go to hell" With this he ended the call.

Stacy dropped the phone from her ear in awe. Her mouth agape and in shock.

"Bastard! Filthy bastard!" She screamed and threw the phone across the room. The shattering sounds sending pleasure to her ears.

"I swear I'll kill you and feed your flesh to the birds!"

After Sophie dropped Camille back to her mother's place that night. She drove back to her place to prepare for her dinner date with Marcus. She herself had plans for this night, she didn't Know if she could ask him how he felt about her or what he wanted her to be in his life. She loved him, he may not love her yet because he has a strong heart but she'll make him fall in love with her.

Surely that isn't an easy task but she's ready to do anything for him. She dressed up in a long red gown. it wasn't hers, it had belonged to her sister when she was alive. But she loved it. She never had enough money to get herself fancy things that she wanted. But she has a lot responsibility on her neck to consider getting herself beautiful dresses.

Her doorbell rang.

Who could that be. Marcus couldn't be here yet, can he. They still had like thirty minutes before they see.

She opened her door to see a delivery man.

"Hi" she said as he handed her a package and beamed at her.

"You need to sign here" he said handling her a package file.

After the man left, She walked into her bedroom and placed the package on the bed.

She opened it slowly, and brought out the most beautifully made dress she had ever seen. It was glittering red, with tiny diamonds attached all over. It would cost a fortune as it is, Sophie thought pulling out the card attached to the box.

It read: 'This dress reminds me of the sunset, And the sunset reminds me of you. Wear this and look beautiful. Marcus.'

She smiled, blushing prettily. And took out the dress. She removed the one she had put on before and dosed the one Marcus has just sent for her.

It clung to to her like a second skin. Enhancing her figures in a delightful way as it graced her body. It was beautiful.

As Sophie stared at herself in the mirror. She shivered slightly, turning around to bear in the beautiful view before her.

She let her hair down, bobs of curls cascading die her shoulder and she applied a little make up. By the time she heard the horning of Marcus car outside, she was as ready and beautiful as she could ever be.

"you look beautiful" Marcus said his mouth falling open at the sight of her. Sophie blushed prettily.

"Thank you sir".

"Hey Sophie....no sir for tonight" he cautioned her as he held open the car door for her.

She smiled and nodded.

As they drove into the streets. It was quite a busy and fantastic night.

People could be seen on the road and Sophie fancied a walk on the pavement with her hand intertwined with Marcus's.

But it sure was a wild dream.

The restaurant was in the far side of the town. Quite, expensive, lovely, dashing, and exquisitely brilliant for a romantic date. Far more posh than the one Dave had taken her to. Though she wasn't blaming or comparing him. She was just saying.

Marcus pulled out her chair for her

"Thank you Marcus" She said smiling.

He gave her a sexy sideway smile that made her wet and horny. He was one damn sexy and gorgeous man isn't he.

After they were served, the silence between them was awkward at first. And she decided to break it.

"Have you gotten whoever sent you those pictures?" she asked digging into her omelets.

She could see the change in his expression. And she blamed herself for bringing up such discussion.

"Ahh....am sorry.... i didn't to..."

"It's okay Sophie..... I looked into the number but haven't gotten anything yet." He lied not wanting her to feel threatened being with him.

"Oh..." She said clearly seeing through his lie but not wanting to go further.

They were both satisfied, Having talked about practically everything in the world.

Both stood up to leave the restaurant.

At the main entrance, there were few couples departing as well.

The night was cold as they both stepped out and Sophie shivered in her tiny strap gown. Marcus felt her shivers and stopped walking.

He unbottened his coat to remove it then draped it around her. She stared up at him and their eyes met. She could feel her heartbeat goes higher than normal but before he could kiss her, the unexpected happened.
