Chapter Forty two

Sophie was trying her best to contain the pain that's planning on ripping out her heart. Her world crumbled and everything seems blank and void.

Her father died a long time ago, Her sister died years ago too, now her mother's gone leaving her and Camille alone to fend for themselves in this cruel world.

Where was she going to start from, without her mother by her side. Who was going to take care of her when she put to bed. She thought with her hand on her stomach almost like as if she could also feel the baby going through pain.

Most of all, how was Camille going to deal with the news of her grandmother being dead?

She sagged against the chair, the pain in her chest growing rapidly as she placed her hand on it and squeezed. Her chest was aching. And she feels suffocating.

She coughed out loud, still beating her aching chest. And tried to get the attention of a nearby nurse.

Thankfully the nurse saw her in distress and ran to her.

"Are you okay ma'am?" The nurse asked helping her to sit up straight as she patted her back softly.

"My chest....it's hurts" She managed to say.

The nurse looked worried.

"I think that's because of the baby, you've put the baby into too much stress and trauma, And you seem to have an high blood pressure which isn't good for you or the baby. I think you'll need to be admitted. Where's your husband?" The nurse asked as she tried to help her up.

Sophie stiffened. Husband? Was she talking about Marcus?

"He's not my..." She tried to tell the nurse that he wasn't he husband before his voice sounded from behind.

"Here I am nurse. What's wrong?" He asked as he walked towards them looking so worried and concerned. He took her out of the nurse's arms and wrapped his arms around her waist. She almost collapsed against him.

"Your wife needs medical attention. Her current state is getting dangerous for her and the baby. She needs to be admitted" The young nurse explained.

Marcus nodded and asked for the necessary files to be filled so she could be admitted.

When he filled the forms, the nurse's eyes widened at the realisation that they weren't married. As he solemnly put there that he was her guardian. The young nurse didn't Know whether to apologize or keep quiet.

Soon enough, Sophie was admitted and out in a private ward. She had fallen into a stressful slumber and even in her sleep, She looked so worked up.

He sat beside her bed watching as the drip simultaneously dropped into her body.

A doctor came into the ward, and stared at Marcus.

"She's in a critical condition, it may not be too obvious but the tests we did in her stared the obvious already. The baby feels what ever the mother feel. And because she hadn't been resting, the baby becomes agitated and it's blood pressure rises too as well as the mother which put both mother and child in a critical stage" The doctor explained.

"Will she be alright? Will the baby be alright too?" Marcus asked worryness feeling his lungs.

"She will be okay, she just needs to stay here for a few days for absolute rest. If she as much as think or becomes too emotional which may get her blood pressure high, we may loose her and the baby"

Marcus sagged against the chair and exhaled. He was going to loose Sophie and his baby? All because of those bastards? He wasn't going to let that happen. Nothing will happen to the best thing that has ever happened to him. He would rather die that let a single insect have a bite on them.

But as for Brian and Stacy, he has the perfect plan for them. He was going to get them as easily and unsuspecting as he could. He was going to make Stacy fall for him again. It's he that she wants isn't it. He was going to give himself to her. Then when she has fallen head over heels in love with him again. He was going to let her go on the sloppy floor. That's when she'll meet her death.

He was going to make her pay for doing this to the one woman who made him human again.

Sophie woke slowly. The scent in the room she was lying in made her Know she was still in the hospital.

For how long as she been sleeping? She asked herself as she opened her eyes.

She looked around and her eyes landed in a pair of angelic face. Camille and Stella.

Camille smiled at her and she struggled to smile back.

"Hey baby" She murmured Streaching out her hand to touch her cheek. Stella brought her forward so she could touch her.

"Is the baby Makin you shick" Camille asked and Sophie almost laughed.

"You've become such a big baby. I am just getting a little rest because the baby will be coming out soon okay?"

"When will you come home?" Camille asked again.

"Soon my love..... Soon"

"When will granny come back too. Aunty Stella said she travelled to somewhere very far away" Camille said demonstrating the far away with a sway of her hands. Sophie laughed and felt tears fall from her eyes.

"She'll be back soon too. Am sure she misses you."

"I miss her too"

Sophie looked away, not wanting Camille to see her tears and she quickly cleaned her face. Stella saw what was happening and said to Camille.

"Cam.....will you help me call the nurse and tell them she's awake?"

"Of course" She said gingerly.

"You can? Good now off you go"

Camille ran off excitedly and left the room. Stella helped Sophie to sit up.

"Thank you for taking care of her. I really appreciate it Stella" Sophie said.

"It's no big deal, and besides, Camille is one beautiful soul. Her smiling face jist made her looked sweeter. I couldn't resist"

Sophie gave her a warm smile.

"How are you feeling now?" Stella asked.

"Better than before, Where's Marcus"

"He was here all day yesterday but he had to go home this morning to freshen up and attend to some matters at work. So he asked me to come over"

"You didn't have to. Caring for Camille is more than enough"

Stella shook her head and gave her a warm smile.

Camille came in holding the nurses hand smiling.

"Mom, aunt Stella, I called the nurse" She said and Stella turned to give her the sweetest smile.

"You're such a smart girl Cam." She said and Sophie ruffled her hair.

After the nurse check her pulse, heartbeat, temperature and saw that it was okay, she adjusted her drip and faced Sophie.

"You're fine, and your baby seem to be fine too. Though your body temperature still isn't where it's supposed to be but it's better than before. And you need to control your heart beat. The doctor will see you in few minutes and explain more to you."

Sophie nodded, thank the nurse and she left.

"Everything seems to be in order. You just need to calm you nerves, nothing must happen to you or Our Baby" Stella said laying emphasis on the 'Our Baby'.

Sophie gave a soft laugh. And it feels good to be able to laugh again.

The death of her mother was still something that stung her in the heart painfully but she tried to get rid of the pain. Even though not all. just a little, she thought. She needed to be strong for herself, for her baby, For Camille, and lastly for Marcus. She would try her possible best to make sure this doesn't happen again.

"Thank you Stella, Everything just seem to be happening at the same time. I just hope I don't loose this baby..."

"Of course you won't, Nothing will make you loose this child, that's why you must protect yourself do as to keep the child safe."

The door opened and an older men in white came into the room. The doctor she supposed. He gave her a friendly smile and took the chair at the other side of the bed.

"How do you do miss Sophie?" He asked

"Fine doctor, thank you"

"Can you tell me how you feel?"

"I...I....just feel sedated, tired and hungry, And then a slight headache." She explained to him.

"Those will disappear by the end of tommorow after getting enough rest"

"Okay doctor" She nodded smiling.
