Chapter sixty two

"The baby's coming! push harder!" one of the nurse said as Sophie gripped the bed spread tighter, and screamed in agony.

Her baby.... The child she and Marcus bore was finally coming into the world!

Sophie's last scream and push was blessed with the piercing cry of a baby.

The Descendant of Marcus. A beautiful bouncing baby girl, who has Marcus's dark hair and Sophie's deep blue eyes.

It was the most beautiful scenery of Sophie's life as the nurse gently placed the bloody baby into her tired arms, Sophie stared lovingly at her baby girl. Hot tears streaming down her cheeks, as she gently and softly placed a kiss on the now crying baby forehead.

"She's beautiful...." Evelina said softly, smiling in between tears too. Sophie nodded and looked up at the nurses who smiled too, feeling the heart wrenching moment.

Evelina took the baby In her arms and Sophie lied down against the bed, her lips pale and her face as white as snow. Even as tired as she was, she felt restless.

Like something wasn't right somewhere. What could be wrong? Her mind snapped to Marcus and she sat up abruptly, not caring about the pain she was going through.

"Marcus...where's Marcus? He should be here with me....have you..."

Evelina stopped her from her flattering.

"He'll be here soon, I'm sure Elliot and Ben must have told him you were in labour"

"Are you sure they've heard from him? Why do I have this restless feeling like something...."

"Calm down....calm down...there's a limit to your stress and anxiety, you just had a baby and you must be feeling weak and tender, take your time to rest first. Even the boss won't be happy if he meets you in an unsatisfaying condition" Evelina coaxed her into lying back on the bed.

The nurse took the baby away to bath and another nurse came in to Clean Sophie up.

An hour later, Sophie was laying down sleeping, with the baby by her side in the hospital crib.

She was drifting in and out if sleep as she was still uncomfortable and restless. Soon she began having nightmares.

She saw Marcus walking towards her and, their child in her arms. He was smiling, and she was smiling back at him. But as he was about to get closer to them, something or someone invisible pulled him back and away. She tried to grasp for him but she couldn't.

She didn't even get to touch him.

She screamed and with the baby in her arms, she ran towards him. Her eyes blurry with tears.

She could see his lips moving but she couldn't hear or make out the words he was saying.

"Marcus! No! Don't go!...... Marcus!" She screamed awake and saw Evelina already by her side.

"You had a nightmare?" she asked.

Sophie nodded, sitting up, and looked around the room. No sign of Marcus.

"Marcus isn't here yet?" she asked, glancing at Evelina. That was when she saw the expression on her face.

Evelina shook her head.

"What's wrong....where's Marcus? why isn't he here yet? He promised he would be by my side when I'm having our baby.... Even if he wasn't there when....when I was in labour, he should be here now"

"Calm down Sophie, I'm not supposed to be telling you this but I don't think the boss is in a good condition....."

Before she could finish her sentence, Sophie had swung her feet to the ground and stood up, not giving a damn about the piercing pain and sourness in her intimate areas.

"Where is he?.....take me there now!" Sophie cried stumbling and almost loosing her footing as she made for the door. Evelina quickly ran to stop her.

"You can't leave in your condition, you're still sour and weak"

"Leave me alone! I'll leave by myself if you can't take me...... Marcus....my love"

Sophie tried to open the door, Even as Evelina tried to stop her, the noise woke the baby, and she let out a piercing cry. Probably hungry for food.

"Your baby is hungry, why don't you stay calm and feed her, and let me explain what happened to you. You need to calm down!"

"My baby....." Sophie moved away from the door and walked to the crib. Gently carried out the baby and sat on the bed.

A single tear landed on her baby's cheek and she wiped it away. Wiped her own cheeks too and she smiled slowly.

"When will your father gets to see you..." Sophie murmured.

"Ben and Elliot had been trying to reach him, like you know, after we brought you here, they decided to wait outside and keep trying his line and the other guards line too."

Sophie hardly listen to what she's saying, as she all but stared at her baby who was sucking hungrily on her breast.

"Marcus......" Evelina continued knowingly mentioning the name.

Sophie's head snapped up. "Marcus?....."

"Yes, the boss was in a fight with Brian, and it went very badly as the boss's men and Brian's men collided with each other. Brian shot the boss two times, like Ben said. Both meeting him at the same spot. Not before the boss had shot Brian in his other legs too. "

"Where he now? how's he? I want to see him! " Sophie cried suddenly standing up again, with the baby in her arms.

"Where's Ben and Elliot?"

"They're in the hospital lobby, Why..."

"I need to see them, I want them to take me to where Marcus is"

"You can't leave....."

"Don't tell me that!! I can and I will!! If i was In his shoes, would Marcus have lied down doing nothing saying he was weak and sick"

"He...that..." Evelina stammered and Sophie walked away from her. Walking unsteadily along the corridor, the baby in her arms.

"Sophie... Sophie...let me hold the baby, you're walking too unsteadily for the comfort of the baby"

Sophie turned and smiled at her. Handling her her baby.

They walked to the lobby and sighted Ben and Elliot straight away, both sitting in front of a laptop, typing fast and steadily both with a Stern and worried expression.

They walked towards them and when they saw her, they sent Evelina an angry look.

"Don't look at her like that, I didn't listen to her, she tried to stop me."

"You still need rest ...."Elliot began.

"I want to see Marcus. Take me to where he is now!"

At first the look in their eyes shows they want to argue but when they saw the determination in her eyes, they knew there was no point arguing with her. Even if they weren't happy about it. they had to do it.

After clearing up all documents and promising to be back for further treatments, they left the hospital and made for God knows where.

Marcus hadn't been taken to the hospital. He was in one of his houses in the states, receiving treatments.
