Chapter 16: Let Me Buy Your Children

Celia was beginning to feel irritated as well as concerned. How dare the woman come into her home and order her around?

“I promise I won’t be long, just give me a few minutes,” Linda asked again.

“Kids, can you go to your room and play there with your toys a little?” Celia asked. The twins obeyed and ran on all fours up the stairs.

Celia could sense something heavy coming so she crossed her arms and stood with her head to the side so she looked intimidating.

“Now, I can see that you are clearly battling to do the work of two people at once,” Linda stated in a firm, confident tone.

“Excuse me?” Celia interrupted. “Are you here to manage my workload?”

“No, I want to relieve you of your duties towards the children,” Linda responded.

Celia could not believe her ears. She plopped down on the chair right next to her.

“You want to do what?” she asked incredulously.
