Chapter 014 - Payback

I enter the family restaurant where I am expecting Saitama to be eating. Yesterday, when we were alone in the room, he stood up and made up an excuse that the Hero Association needed him for monster hunting. I told him that if it was group hunting, he could join Blizzard Group instead.

He made an exasperated sigh and leaves me alone, which left me with no choice but to leave the apartment as well.

I grin when I see Saitama eating at the middle table. I slide into the chair in front of him before smiling and greeting him with a, "Hi, Saitama."

"Uh, Fubuki, what are you doing here?" he asks.

"You just left yesterday for a mission," I answer. "There are still a couple of things I still need to talk to you about."

"Like what? I will not join you."

I slam the table with my palms. "You can't keep on declining my invitation!"

"You should give up inviting me into your group. I won't join." Then he looks away and whispers under his breath, "Especially what happened yesterday."

I raise my brow. I am still thinking about what he meant when the server comes and gives Saitama the bill. He slides his hands into his pocket and fumble around. His previously bored face changes into that of panic. He looks at me and I grin.

"You don't have your wallet?" I ask. I place my wallet on the table and ask, "Willing to listen to me now?"

His eyes go back and forth between my face and my wallet. He clears his throat and in a serious manner, he leans forward and says, "What should I listen about?"

"Now, we're talking," I say while smirking. "I need you to come with me to my apartment."

He frowns. "What am I gonna do in your apartment?"

Different things appear in my head, none of which are wholesome, so I grab his glass of water and sip. When I look back at him, he is looking strangely at me. Then, I realize that I just shared the same glass with him! I blush furiously.

"Why are you getting angry again?" he asks exasperated.

"This redness is not because of anger!" I blurt out. "It's—" I stop myself. "It's nothing. I just need you to help me transfer my clothes to your unit."

He frowns.

"In exchange, I will pay for your meal today."

"Okay, I got it. Where's your apartment?"

Finally! I stop a squeal of delight from going out of my mouth. For the first time, I am able to make him obey my wishes! Food is the key. Maybe, I should learn more cooking skills.

I steel myself and in a calm voice, I say, "Then, you better follow me."

I left money for the meal payment and hire a taxi to bring us to my apartment. It takes a couple more minutes before we arrive. Paying for the taxi, I alight from the vehicle, followed by the obviously bored Saitama.

I thought he will complain when I just continue walking along the stairs and to my room, which is just on the second floor, but he didn't.

"Here we are," I say, opening up the door to my apartment unit.

"Where are your clothes?" he asks.

"There." I walk to my cabinet and start putting the same clothes in a travel bag.

"You don't expect all those clothes to fit in my unit, right?" he asks.

"Oh right. I should only have a month of clothes."

"A month?! It should only be for a week!"

I click my tongue. "Fine. A week of clothes then."

In reality, I can carry my one week's worth of clothes. But spending time with him is also good, especially when I can persuade him to join us in the Blizzard Group. And besides, if only he will join already, I don't have to do these underhanded methods.

"All done," I inform him.

He looks at my bags and says, "Just take a single bag of clothes."

"What is the need of hiring you if I will just have one bag?"

He thinks about it for a while, but without a choice, he takes it and starts to exit my room.

"Wait!" I say. I catch his arm and I almost got dragged along the room.

"What?"

"Why are you hurrying?!"

"I am not hurrying."

But I ignore it. Instead, I say, "Is there someone who's going to be angry if you go into another woman's house?!"

He winces. "You are being condescending again, aren't you?"

I frown.

"And even if I have why would she be angry at me for working?!"

Somehow, that hurts me. My hands loosen on his wrists and I let him go. Tears edge into my eyes but I sniff them away. However, Saitama saw it and so, he starts to panic.

"I'm not the cause for it. I didn't—"

"Of course, it's your fault!" I blurt out, cutting him off. "It's as if you don't want me to live with you!"

"Of course, I don't want to!"

I glare at him. "Why are you here then?!"

"Did you forget, you promised that you are going to pay the rest of my rent, and you will bring in some groceries?" he says matter-of-factly.

I groan my frustrations. Too much for crying over this stupid thing! If that's the case, that just means that I am still not working hard on it. I need more determination. I stare at him. He is looking uncertainly at me. I move closer. Right, I should kiss him. My gaze goes to his lips, which are set on a grimace. I lean closer to him and am about to press my lips on him when I feel lightheaded. I feel my cheeks going so hot that I start to pull back and turn around.

Hiding from him, I cup my cheeks. I can feel the warmth and my chest is heaving. I need to calm down. How am I going to seduce him into my Group when I am getting all fidgety like this just from thinking of kissing him?!

"Ahm, Fubuki, are you changing your mind?" he asks.

I whirl around. "I am not! I still want to ki—"

"Ki?"

"I mean, I still want to move in with you," I answer, looking away.

Right, I should start with simple touches and hugs first. Kissing will come after, and perhaps, something more. My cheeks start to warm up again. Ugh! I should stop these salacious thoughts!
