The moment Russell saw "Torkifat", he knew why other Elf Directors couldn't recognize his identity.

It was because he was too strange.

The overwhelming uniqueness of Torkifat diluted all the "strange scents" about him.

It's akin to how a spy, trying hard to imitate a normal person, would always reveal their true identity through some minor details. But if they turned into a well-known madman, a freak who everyone avoids, they might actually be able to hide their incongruences.

First, he let Russell enter the brain-heavy factory syndicate of Mental Heavy Industries, specifically taking him through various different production and research workshops... allowing him to walk amidst walls that constantly opened and closed like a maze, dispersing his attention and occupying his mental space.
