Chapter 1: Sleeping in the Sunny Spot

August 22nd, yet another Sunday so scorching that it discouraged people from leaving their houses.

Russell curled up on the sofa at Cui Que's house, motionless, luxuriating in the air conditioning.

With his eyes closed, he lazily stuffed his head beneath the sofa cushion and into the nook between the cushion and the armrest, trapping his head in place.

Half-asleep, he leisurely thumped his tail on the sofa.

Inherited from the cat's prone-spiritual disease, Russell's bones were flexible, and a proper squeeze and narrowness made him more comfortable. He liked arranging four folded blankets around him like a Go board, then shrinking into the small square in the middle—before completely messing up the blankets, Russell could roll around inside for hours.

This was still his "ritual" for easing stress during his school days.
