Chapter 11 No Stand

"Wake up..." James felt that he was surrounded by a lot of people, who were talking about something with their mouths open.

With a nervous look on his face, his assistant Stella trotted to help him up.

But James couldn't hear anything.

James woke up after hearing a ringing.

He took a few deep breaths, slowly stood up, and held the cabinet beside him. "I'm fine. I'm just a little over fatigue and hypoglycemia."

James stared at Scarlett and asked. "They are my children?"

"No," Scarlett replied decisively.

Sensing his unusual attitude, Scarlett tried to explain.

"We are not familiar with each other. You must have mistaken for someone else, Mr. James."

The three kids held Scarlett's waist tightly and hid behind her.

Scarlett was like a weak mother who was brave enough to protect her baby.

If James dared to get close to her child, Scarlett would fight back.

James looked at Anna, who was hiding behind Scarlett and looked at her curiously. He felt very familiar with her.

Anna was a perfect mini version of him and Scarlett, not to mention that Tom and Tony were more like him.

Scarlett was lying.

But James didn't have any stand to expose her. After all, they had divorced for many years. In Scarlett's eyes, it was him who betrayed her first. Even now, he was still entangled with Bella.

James smiled bitterly. He had to solve his problem with Bella as soon as possible, and then prove that he had no choice but to force Scarlett to leave.

In this way, he might be able to get Scarlett's hope back.

It was the first time that Anna had seen a real James. He was more handsome than in the photo! Anna thought to herself.

But at the thought that James had abandoned them and their mother for so many years, Anna got angry again.

Tom was also hostile to James.

Noticing that the kids were in a bad mood, Scarlett comforted them, "Be good, kids. I'll take you home right away. Don't be afraid."

"Mommy," Anna said, gesturing for a hug.

Scarlett held Anna in her arms and held Tony's hand, while Tom held Scarlett's skirt.

Then Scarlett and her three kids turned around and left without looking back.

James felt sad.

He had a wife and children actually, but he lived like a lonely old man.

Stella walked up and patted the boss on the shoulder with a look of understanding.

James became angry from embarrassment. "Get out of here. Hurry up and find some of Bella's dirty information."

"Okay, boss. I'm leaving now." He retreated to the door.

"Come back."

"What's wrong, boss?" He was confused.

"Go and sort out the evidence that Bella's father, the high official Ron, accepted bribes and made poisonous drugs. It's time to take action."

He looked at James with admiration.

Having accompanied James for many years, Stella knew that James had done too much to protect his beloved woman, Scarlett, and to root out the corruption in M City.

It was time to have a result.

After leaving the room, James played with the wine glass alone.

He looked at the scarlet liquid flowing in the transparent glass, and in front of him was the huge french window of the CEO's independent office on the ninety-nine floor.

As the night fell, countless street lamps and families in the city lit up.

It was a warm scene, but James felt a little cold and couldn't help holding his arms tightly.

He began to miss Scarlett and those cute kids again.

At this time, Scarlett drove the car to her mother's house with the three kids.

Scarlett had been worried that her son would be kidnapped, so she finally felt relieved.

She asked with concern, "Tony, are you okay? Are you afraid? Are you hurt? Why are you still in the hospital?"

Tony didn't feel annoyed by his mother's series of questions. He knew that his mother cared about him too much.

He replied to the questions one by one, "Mommy, I'm fine. I was saved by James. I'm not injured or scared. I'm just a little allergic to food."

Hearing Tony's answer, Scarlett was relieved. But when she heard that Tony knew James, she felt nervous.

How could it be! How did Tony know James?

Scarlett began to be afraid again. She had tried her best to hide the existence of the children. Would they be exposed and discovered by James?

However, what her daughter Anna said next was even more shocking.

Holding onto the driver's seat of Scarlett, Anna couldn't help asking, "Mom, is James our father? Why don't you recognize him?"

Anna's words were like a bomb exploding in Scarlett's ears. She was shocked. Was it so obvious that she knew James?

Or did Anna just guess it by chance?

Scarlett calmed down and coughed, "Your father was dead, wasn't he? I'll take you to the mourning ceremony another day. Who is James? Why haven't I heard of this name?"

After saying that, Scarlett wiped the cold sweat on her forehead with a guilty conscience.

It seemed that it was time to choose a piece of land and buy a tombstone to fake the child's father's tomb.

Anna was not satisfied with this decision. Her little face was full of anger and her lips pouted.

Tony and Tom looked at each other and patted Anna's back, trying to calm her down.

Tony whispered, "I guess mom is thinking about how to deceive us about father again."
