"I don't know what you're talking about," Grayson said, his frown deepening. 

There was no way Cora could know that he was aware of the lycan or even that the lycan was here—not unless she was remembering what he had forced her to forget. And that was not possible. No one could break the compelled part of a mind other than the vampire who did it. 

It was dangerous for her to remember. It was dangerous for her to know the truth. That's what he told himself. He was protecting her. If his mother found out… who knows what would happen. 

But there was something else now. A selfish part of himself bloomed to life, not wanting her to discover the truth for his own reasons. Perhaps it was that part of himself that Cora was aware of now. Perhaps she could sense it. She was certainly staring at him like she could see into the deepest secrets he held, and it was unnerving.
