What the Heart Needs

Cora was still in the same place where Theo had left her. She looked as though she were sleeping, but her chest was not moving. She had no need for air. She was as still as a corpse. 

He sighed heavily thinking of all that he had learned from Penelope—all that had been sacrificed because of the vampires in Gray Vale. Zagan was living without his family. Penelope was living without her mate and Cora and her brother were without their dad. 

And Penelope's enchantment had been broken because of Pearce. Pearce—the elder that no one considered a threat any longer, which was why he had continued to be left in the dungeon for as long as he had. Look at the mess that he had created. 

"Pearce," Theo snarled under his breath. Just wait until his parents heard about this.
