Magnetic North

Sage was still sitting in the pack house when he felt a pull to find Gia. Without questioning it, he folded his papers, got up from the chair he had been lounging in, and went straight to the woods out back where it felt like she had wandered.

Now that he had uncovered their mate bond, Gia was like his magnetic North. He would always be able to find her.

Finn and Calix were setting up the logs for the bonfire, still arranging them in a manner that would offer the longest burning time that night while maintaining a safe structure for the flames. He nodded and smiled—a wordless greeting. Finn looked like he wanted to ask him something, but he acted like he didn't notice. Gia was out there somewhere alone and distraught in the woods.
