THE DIFFERENT DAVEL

Davel Clayton couldn't stop smiling as he continued to stare out the window. He had a brilliant idea that would take him out of the hospital, and luckily, his parents immediately agreed with the idea.

Imagining how he would begin his journey to find the Moon Goddess outside this room that had a strange smell, he couldn't shake the smile off his face.

Unfortunately, he wasn't the only one in the VIP ward, and his 'parents' looked dumbfounded when they saw how their 'son' kept smiling without saying anything.

"Are you all right, Davel?"

It was his 'mother' who finally broke the silence in the room, and the pair of blue eyes finally drifted away from the boring window.

"I'm fine," replied the young man while looking at his 'parents' who were standing next to each other. For some reason, he could see the strange expression on the woman's face, and he decided to ask, "Am I acting weird? I'm different from myself before I lost my memory?"

Even if Davel didn't really lose his memory, he acted as if he did, and he tried to find out more information about the real Davel in this world.

The Shadow of the Moon Goddess was very stingy, and she didn't tell him anything about Davel Clayton. She only said that he needed to find out about Davel himself, and he ended up glaring at the silver-haired woman who was not even the real Goddess.

His 'mother' smiled at him before walking towards the cupboard and taking the bowl from it. "You should eat first, honey. I'll tell you all about you after you finish lunch."

It was already past lunchtime, and a nurse had delivered food to the ward a few minutes ago. However, the dish remained untouched as Davel was busy with his own thoughts in the last few minutes.

The woman who claimed to be Davel's mother sat on the edge of the bed and was ready to feed her 'child' with food.

But, Davel pulled his head off the spoon before saying, "I can eat myself."

Davel wasn't a kid anymore, and he could still use his right hand to eat even though his left hand wasn't free.

When he glanced at the bowl in the woman's hand, he could see something like soup in the bowl. Davel was a wolf, but he used to eat cooked food ever since he turned into a werewolf.

The Moon Goddess forbade werewolves from eating raw meat, and that was why they started cooking their meat a hundred years ago.

Davel used to eat meat even after he became a werewolf, and because of that reason, he frowned when he couldn't see any meat in the soup in the bowl. Instead of meat, he could only see some boring vegetables in the bowl, and he didn't have any appetite because of the sight.

"I'm your mother, but I haven't had a chance to feed you since you were growing up, Davel. Let me feed you just this once, okay? You're still my child even if you're this big now," the woman spoke again as she continued to point the spoon to the man's lips.

Davel could see the vegetables on the spoon as well, but he sighed when he finally opened his mouth to accept the spoonful of soup. What he just did cause the woman to smile widely.

"I know I shouldn't have said it, but you became a better person after you lost your memory, Davel."

The woman spoke again while Davel was still forcing himself to swallow the food, but then he looked at the woman and asked, "So, my character was indeed different before I lost my memory?"

"Mhm," replied the woman. "You were very cold, and you were even cold towards your parents. You never smiled, and you also rarely talked when you were with us, Davel."

Now, Davel was dumbfounded after hearing the woman's words. The shadow of the Moon Goddess didn't really tell him anything about Davel Clayton's character, and the woman only asked him to pretend to be that human while he was in this world.

He tried to pretend, but he didn't know how because he didn't know anything about the real Davel in this world. He was rather lucky that humans assumed that he had lost his memory, so he could still be himself even though he currently had a different identity.

"Do you think I should return to my previous character before I lose my memory?" He decided to ask his 'parents.'

The parents looked surprised when they heard the question, but then his 'father' hastily replied, "You don't have to force yourself to be the previous you before you lost your memory, son. The doctors say that we shouldn't force you to remember everything, and you have to take your time until your memory comes back by itself."

They did speak to Breyno Collins and several other doctors before. The doctors were checking his condition, and he told them he would be leaving the hospital instead of doing further checks with them.

The doctors were stunned, but his 'parents' finally explained their plan to them. In the end, his 'parents' even needed to see the hospital director before the matter was finally resolved.

Hearing how his 'father' talked about how he would eventually get his memories back, he somehow felt guilty. The current Davel in this world was not the same as the previous Davel, and they would probably feel sad if they found out the truth behind his existence.

'I don't even know where the real Davel is right now,' he lamented inwardly. Whether the real Davel was still alive or not, he knew nothing about it.

He felt bad, but he could see that his 'mother' was trying to feed him with a spoon once again. However, before he could open his mouth to accept the spoon, he could hear someone knocking on the door.
