THE BEST FRIENDS

"Sir?" Shirley couldn't even stop herself from saying the word once she heard how Nancy spoke to the white-haired man.

Her voice was loud enough to echo down the hall, and the two people who were talking in front of the meeting room simultaneously turned to face her and Lycia, who was walking beside her.

They had spent two hours in the lounge, and Shirley asked Lycia to return to Davel's office because she assumed the meeting should be over by now. Lycia didn't voice her objection as she simply nodded her head, and the two then left the room together.

They walked down the hall side by side, and from a distance, she could see how Davel was talking to his secretary. It turned out that Shirley's hunch proved correct because the meeting was over.
