That's right. He did call Shirley last night, and that was before he suddenly received a call from Lycia.

When he assumed that he needed someone's help to find more information about Danielle's story, he carefully considered who he could turn to for help. He didn't know who to call, and he finally decided to call the manager, assuming that he could only trust the manager now.

Davel Clayton did have parents, and from Shirley, he also learned that his parents were influential people in this country. However, he also learned from the manager that the Claytons didn't actually have a good relationship with Davel Clayton, and that was the reason why he didn't want to ask for their help in this matter.
