Iterius village was a very small village surrounded by mountains on one side and plains on the other.
The population of the village was merely hundreds.
No one knows why it was called Iterius, but from ancient times it was called so.
A young boy was walking thorough the village. The people of the village were pointing at him and talking in hushed voices.
They were displaying various emotions but most of them were of pity and sympathy.
Xavier was walking after mourning for the death of his parents. They were his only relatives so from the moment he was all alone in the world.
But now he was also having a goal for himself. He was determined to take revenge against the person who had killed his parents.
He still remembered how peaceful and happy his days were hunting and farming with his family when just because he mistakenly blocked the path and refuted that person his guards tortured him and killed his parents who tried to protect him.
He wanted revenge against them so badly but he knew he was not even qualified to go near him.
He walked towards his hut. He entered it and found an emptiness in his home. For the past few years it seemed so serene and peaceful but now it's just void.
He went towards his parents belongings and found the items he would take on his journey of revenge.
He eliminated many items and finally decided to take only three things with him. He took some copper coins they were their last possessions.
He took a bracelet and a stone. The bracelet was his mother's heirloom and the stone was something he found in the mountains.
He went outside and took one last look at his childhood home and left resolutely. After that he walked towards the most largest house in the village.
It was the village chief's house. He knocked on the door. A few moments later a deep and powerful voice came.
"Come in"
He went inside it was a simple house devoid of any luxuries one would expect from a chief. The chief motioned him to sit. He complied and sat in front of the chief.
He looked at the old man in front of him. He looked old enough that he could die at any moment but his eyes seems to be telling otherwise.
They had a shine hiding deep within them which no one could find.
The old chief looked at the kid and said
"I know what had happened and I am very sorry for what had transpired. Your parents were members of my village yet I could do nothing but watch."
A sadness flashed In his eyes and he sighed softly.
"I know I can't stop you from taking this path so I would try my best to satisfy any requirements you have."
Xavier nodded and said " I want to take revenge, show me a way to become powerful enough for that"
The chief sighed once again.
"I know of a place where there may be opportunities or dangers, that is the only way I see to become powerful enough.
I don't know what lies there you could maybe just die and your revenge may end there only. Do you still wish to go there?"
Xavier thought for sometime.
As the situation was there was no hope for him to take revenge he was not arrogant enough to believe that just his conviction would be required to take revenge.
He needed to become powerful quickly this could be his only chance.
He made a decision.
He decisively nodded and said , "This is the only path open for me, I have no other choice but to tread on this. Please guide me."
The old chief sighed and said, " Very well, in the mountains there is a shrine, no one dared to go there as those who went there at night have never returned.
In the daytime I went there and I saw a plaque. It was written on it that only those with firm conviction should go there.
You have this conviction maybe you will gain something. I will tell you the path to go there.
Whether there is only death waiting for you or an opportunity to rise. It would only be known by you."
Xavier nodded and expressed his gratitude. He got up and went towards the mountains with a firm will and heart.
After he went the chief raised his head to look in the direction of the kid, his eyes shone for a moment then he went back staring towards nothingness.
