Chris POV
After that day in the town, Asa didn’t leave home again.
He stayed cooped up on the couch, not doing much but lying around.
Asa didn’t go outside to run, no matter how many times Chris tried to goad him into their games.
He still wore turtlenecks around the house, no matter that spring began to bloom into a sweltering summer, the days longer and the temperatures hotter.
Chris worried about Asa, but Asa met every attempt of Chris' to ask about his wellbeing with the same answer, 'I'm fine'.
A week passed since the confrontation, and yet Asa didn’t move.
Chris needed to figure it out.
He had to fix his mate.
“Asa, come eat dinner,” Chris called for the third time.
He’d decided on making Asa’s favorite food, to prove to Asa that he cared for Asa and Asa only.
Asa went upstairs to bathe an hour ago and had ignored all of Chris’ previous calls.
He tugged on the bond, an act of futility these days because Asa refused to answer back.
