Chapter 13: The Angel You Can Call

It takes two more weeks before I have to fire the twins from upstairs duty, because Jason doesn't need them anymore.

At this point, his limp is almost entirely gone, and he has started to walk to the kitchen and back to the room with ease. He continues to offer to do things around here, like chopping basic ingredients and doing the dishes.

Some days, Simone hijacks him and forces him to sit with her at the counter before he can offer to help, and they proceed to gossip in low tones. Well, Simone is doing the gossiping, and he's looking at her like she's an annoying flea on the wall he has to kill. Soon.

I'm not complaining. It just means our regulars are meeting with him and falling in love, and that business is going more smoothly. Today, which happens to be one of the occasions that Simone wants to talk to Jason, they can't sit at the counter and attend to customers because DeAndre is manning it.
