Chapter 23: On The Run

Felicity stumbled a bit as Levi rushed her out of the building as quickly as their feet would carry them. She’d seen Levi in a flustered state, but he seemed genuinely scared and upset and that rose her own levels of anxiety. He brought her to the back where an old, beat-up SUV was.

“Levi, what’s going on? Where’s your car?” she asked.

“I traded it.” Levi replied abruptly as he helped her into the front seat.

“For this rust bucket?” she scoffed.

“I’ll explain everything on the road.” Levi said as he got into the driver’s side. He drove off, heading toward the freeway. The sun was starting to go down.

Felicity wasn’t sure what to think or do. Levi had burst into her room, murdered her cell phone, and now she’s going God knows where in a car that looks like it could fall apart if you placed your hand on the wrong side of it. Yet, she still trusted him. Trusted that he truly was looking out for her.
