Chapter 41: I Deserved That

Levi was ready to embrace Felicity and give her a kiss that would say, “I’m sorry, I love you, stay with me forever.” Instead, he got the sting of her wrath across his face. His face jerked from the blow and though embarrassment and anger immediately flooded through him, he knew that he deserved that. He couldn’t even ask what the hell it was for. He knew.

Felicity began quoting his letter, “You deserve better than me Felicity. I love you and want you to be happy. I hope you find what you deserve.”

With a bruised ego, Levi sat down in the chair across from her bed. He rubbed the part of his cheek that was slapped and gazed at her. “I freaked out. I saw you bleeding, and because God has a sense of humor, the doctor who saw you that night was the one to tell you that you lost your husband. I had no idea how that made you feel, but for me, I felt like I had no place in your life.”
