Chapter 19: Workers Strike.

"Recently, there's been an issue at the construction site. So, after dropping me off, just follow me around. But remember, don't do anything against the rules without my permission."

Sitting in the car, Isabella appeared somewhat exhausted. However, she still tried to work, flipping through reports while instructing Benjamin.

Only now did Benjamin notice Isabella's worn-out expression? Although she had tried to conceal the dark circles under her eyes with makeup, he could see she had been up late working the night before.

Upon arriving at the construction site, Benjamin carefully parked and opened the car door for Isabella to exit. He initially wanted to offer her a hand but stopped midway when he saw her glance at him.

"Isabella, you finally decided to come? These workers are unruly. They want to strike, claiming our company's benefits aren't good enough. It's outrageous."

As soon as Isabella stepped out of the car, a chubby, middle-aged man with a shiny complexion, followed by a careful secretary holding an umbrella, hurried over, panting as if he had just finished a vigorous exercise.

However, just as Isabella's group prepared to enter the office, a group of workers suddenly rushed over from afar, shouting continuously.

"She's finally here!"

"Everyone, she's the company's CEO. We must seek justice for Bannet and make them pay back all the money they owe us!"

"That's right! That's right!"

"Justice! Justice!"

"Pay us! Pay us!"

Seeing so many people charging towards her, their appearances quite menacing, Isabella's already pale face became even paler.

"What do you all want? Where are the security guards? Get them out of here!"

Seeing the chaotic crowd, the construction site manager, the same chubby middle-aged man who had just welcomed Isabella with his secretary, angrily shouted.

Immediately after, five or six security guards armed with batons rushed out from the office. Compared to the protesting workers outside, they looked even more ferocious.

"Damn, are you guys fed with tiger's gall or bear's bile? How dare you come here and make trouble? Beat them, beat them to death for me!"

Leading the security team at this moment was a middle-aged man in his thirties with a burly build and a fierce face. Moreover, he had a long, intimidating scar on his forehead.

"It's them again. Don't be afraid, brothers, we'll fight them to the death!"

Seeing the construction site's security staff charging at them with weapons, the rebellious workers showed no fear. On the contrary, they became even angrier and rushed toward their attackers, engaging in a chaotic brawl.

Shouts, curses, and the chaotic noise in front of the construction site's office continued incessantly. At this moment, Isabella's pale face revealed her anger. She couldn't believe the situation had escalated to this level.

Her eyes turned to the construction site's director, and she sternly asked: "Mr. Carwyn, what's going on? Why do the workers here want to start a fight?"

"Well, this..."

Carwyn was about to explain when a worker fighting with the security team suddenly broke free. He stared furiously at Carwyn and Isabella, his face filled with rage.

"It's you, bastards! You, scoundrels, hurt our brothers and refuse to pay compensation!"

He held a long iron bar in his hand, the kind used in construction and as thick as a thumb.

"Go to hell, all of you!"

He raised the iron bar high and charged at Isabella, screaming.

"Ah!"

Seeing this, Carwyn's secretary let out a scream. Carwyn's plump figure was also drenched in sweat from fear.

Only Isabella remained in place, utterly shocked. She never imagined these people would direct their anger at her, let alone attack her.

Crash!

Just as the man's body lunged forward, a figure leaped out from behind Isabella and shielded her, that's Benjamin. Immediately, a fist shot out, knocking the iron bar and the man away, slamming them against the wall behind him.

"They've killed someone!"

Seeing their comrade knocked unconscious, the workers were not frightened. Instead, their anger intensified, and they swam toward Isabella and Benjamin.

However, Benjamin then glanced at them, and a roar erupted from his throat.

"Get lost!!!"

His voice was deafening, and his aura terrifying. His shout instantly silenced the chaotic melee.

"I don't care who you are or what happened to you. But if anyone dares to touch a single hair on her, I will not let you off easily!"

Gazing at a group of fierce-looking workers wielding various makeshift weapons, Benjamin slowly scanned each person's face. He managed to intimidate them all in a meager, menacing voice, ensuring that none dared to take another step forward.

"Alright, everyone, please calm down and listen to me for a moment!"

Seeing that the crowd had reached a standstill, Isabella regained her composure. She quickly stepped forward, standing before the newly rebellious workers, and began to speak in the gentlest tone possible, explaining the situation.

"Allow me to introduce myself: I am Isabella Taylor, CEO of On The Peak Corporation. I came here today after learning about an incident that occurred at our construction site. I'm unsure what made you so angry that you brought weapons here to cause trouble, but I believe everything has a reason. Whether it's right or wrong, I promise to seek justice for you all. Therefore, I hope you can return to your positions and wait for me to finish my meeting with the management team, after which I will provide the most appropriate answer. If you don't trust me, you can take my business card. With my personal honor, I guarantee that I will ensure you get a satisfactory answer to today's issue!"

Seeing Isabella hand out her business card and speak sincerely and politely, the workers exchanged glances. Eventually, one representative from their group approached Isabella and spoke up.

"Alright, we'll trust you this time. But we will only go back to work if you can resolve Bannet's accident and pay us the wages your company has owed us for months. When that happens, we will return to work diligently and apologize to you."

"Very well, let's settle on that!"

Isabella decisively handed out her business card and shook hands with the workers' representative. She then went into the office with Benjamin, Carwyn, and the construction site's management team.

Sitting in the main seat, Isabella's expression was solemn. Her sharp eyes focused intently on Carwyn.

"Uncle Carwyn, what exactly happened here? I need a clear explanation."

"Well, about that…."

Sweat streamed down Carwyn's plump face as he nervously glanced at the security team's captain sitting nearby.

At this point, Isabella also noticed that this middle-aged man seemed to play a crucial role besides the critical management figures. This realization sparked a hint of suspicion in her heart.

"Madam CEO, in truth, this matter isn't that serious. Those workers were simply careless, leading to a workplace accident. The construction site's management team and Carwyn have already covered the medical expenses and provided some financial assistance to the victims' families. But these people are truly greedy and insatiable. Not only did they fail to appreciate the kindness shown to them, but they also came here to cause trouble."
