End of the Wild Wendigo
Lanax and Ludic had been clearing out the Wendigo for a long while now. Spring is a few weeks from ending.
The daily extermination excursions had made great progress.
However, just because the Wendigo are loners by nature. That does not mean that there isn't someone whose words they all heed. The stealth corps has already identified that someone too. At the expense of some men as well.
Duros was contemplating on how to deal with the enemy.
The Wendigo Terror.
A Wendigo Terror is an evolved form of Wendigo. Just as the hobgoblin is the evolved form of a goblin.
It is taller, stronger, faster, and can use odd abilities. It can blend into the air and seem to be places it isn't. It's toxin and scream are stronger. It is also far more malicious. Unlike other Wendigo, the Wendigo Terror is more prone to playing. It has a reputation for making its prey curl up on the ground, stricken by fear, so much fear that they become brain dead. Only then it would kill and eat its prey, or enemy. Granted, if the enemy was strong enough, it wouldn't bother to play.
The monster is a rank C+.
Duros was thinking about it before he received news. A goblin reported to him, "Chief, Lanax is has undergone a rank up! Kalona will be arriving with him soon. I just came ahead."
Duros smiles, "Good, good! Let me see him then."
Kalona soon arrived in the main room with Lanax. Kalona says happily, "Hello Duros, Lanax just ranked up. I guess all the killing maxed out his experience."
Duros laughs, "Good, show me."
Aurin enters with a status reading orb. A gift form the Oni. Lanax puts a hand on it and his status shows up.

Everyone was impressed with the rank up. Lanax spoke up and says to Duros, "My chief, I have a request. Duros beckons him to speak it.
Lanax requests, "Let me fight the Wendigo Terror alone."
Everyone was astonished by the request. Even Kalona donned a worried face. Duros frowns and asks back, "Why?"
Lanax explains, "I have fought, but I am a champion. None of my battle shave been worthy of this title. I must make myself a champion, by killing the Wendigo Terror in one-on-one combat."
Kalona says worriedly, "Lanax, we have Aurin, Ludic, Fulgnir, Inolo, and me. We can attack together with everyone and win. There is no need to put yourself in danger for this."
Lanax sighs, "Yes, there is Mother. I need to be what I am. I need this. I need to become a real champion."
Duros cuts in, "Are you confident Lanax? I don't want to risk you if you're not confident."
Lanax is sure, "I am confident, I have hone my blade and become one with my shield. I have refined myself. All that is left, is to put myself to the test."
Everyone is silent as Duros gives his verdict. Duros decides, "I will allow you to fight it one-on-one. Bring us victory Lanax. My Son."
This is the first time that Lanax had ever heard Duros call him, "Son." He was taken back, but he smiled and swore, "I will bring back victory, I promise you this. I promise you all this!"
Lanax then turns to Kalona, "Mother, I will bring myself back too. Don't worry."
Kalona had gotten used to losing children in battle already. However, the children she'd named herself are special to her. They're the ones she cares about the most. She worries for them still, and treats them as true sons. She gives a soft smile, "You better Lanax, or else."
Aurin then approaches his brother, "You moronic muscle head. Don't die, it would be boring without a brother to try my magics on."
They both laugh.
Lanax will not be fighting too soon though. They still needed to fight to the the inner area of the territory which would take another week.
1 week later...
Lanax was finally going to fight the Wendigo Terror. He had walked deep into the Wendigo territory. There was no resistance either, as only the Wendigo Terror was still alive. As he walked deeper into the forest, it became darker. Light was scarce as the trees blocked it all out.
Lanax had finally entered the area where the Wendigo Terror should be. He knocked his sword against his shield, sounding out that he was here. Then he waited, armored in medium plate, and ready.
It did not take too long before he heard howls on the weak breeze. A foul stench was carried on it, and growing stronger. Lanax prepared himself. The wind picked up before it dies to ominous stillness. The sounds of the forest were now deafened and quiet too.
Lanax looked around with sharp eyes, looking for his opponent.
"I don't remember that tree being there?", He mutters looking at the dark bark. IT then moves and the full form of the "tree" is revealed.
A 1-story tall blackened Wendigo, with a salivating maw and white eyes shows itself. It then screams. Lanax gets his ears rung, but his will stands strong. He will not feel fear. He will not give it the satisfaction. He uses Quick Dash(C) and Strike of Courage(C) to attack it while its guard is done. He gets the hit in. Although, it is a shallow slash on its chest.
It roars and swipes Lanax, pushing him back. His feet sliding against the forest earth. He holds and goes to attack again. He uses Bulwark Resist(C) and Defense Up(C) to deflect an antler rush. He then uses Heavy Attack(C) on its side. Leaving a gash, but still a flesh wound.
Lanax exchanges with the monster like this. Even when the Terror creates illusions of being places it isn't, Lanax isn't shaken. He takes the sneak attacks, he charges ahead into the claws. He receives some injuries despite the armor, but the toxin isn't enough. He still stands despite it.
The Wendigo Terror becomes angry and forfeits the scare tactics. It opts to wildly attack in fury. Lanax raises his shield and drives against the onslaught. Constantly casting Bulwark Resist(C) to push past the attacks. Lanax uses Strike of Courage(C) again when he is close, and cuts off an antler.
He cuts close and uses heavy attack to rack up slashes on its large chest. The Wendigo doesn't give a foot to Lanax either. It become a war of steel and bone.
Lanax is almost out of stamina, his health is below half and his body is covered in claw injuries. His armor ripped and punctured. His shield has almost lost all integrity and his sword is becoming dull. He can't keep this up. So he decides to stake it all.
"I am the Goblin Champion!!!", he roars as he initiates his last attack. He charges up Max Attack(C+), with all of stamina he has, and whatever strength he can put into it. He throws his shield to cover the Wendigo's sight for a second and launches with a mighty thrust. He gets hit with a solid claw on his flesh, but continues his attack undeterred. He lands the mighty thrust on the Wendigo Terror's chest, right where its heart is. The thrust penetrates and skewers the heart. The Wendigo Terror shakes Lanax off, but the sword remains.
It falls against a tree, before sliding down to the dirt. It lets out one last hateful scream, before going silent forever.
Lanax stand up using a trees as support, "I rise, and you fall..."
He goes over to where he left his small bag. He had filled it with some medical supplies for after the fight, some bandages and salves for his wounds. He gives himself some first aid.
As he walks back home. He smiles and laughs heartedly, "Haha, I am the Goblin Champion. I am the Champion, haha."
This is the day, Lanax the goblin, became a Champion.
