A Critical Moment

Atticus's POV:

Lisa's injuries had worsened.

Since the accident a year ago, her injuries had never been properly healed. However, a werewolf's body had always been strong, so it was easy to imagine how badly she had been hurt.

If it weren't for this, I wouldn't even want to come to Eloise's residence. She was the only beneficiary of this accident, so she must have done it.

She simply looked at me, and that expression made me feel like a rock was pressing down on my chest.

Why did I have to come personally this time? I didn't understand, but my wolf thought it was necessary.

"Don't forget, this is the only reason I'm keeping you here. Don't try to play any tricks." I stood at the door and stared at Eloise.

"Atticus, do you know what day it is today?" She looked up at me.

What day could this be? I looked at her with a frown. In the end, she sighed and lowered her head, coughing violently. I followed her gaze. There were two medicine bottles on the bed.

"You're sick? Do you know how much the medicine you take will affect Lisa?"

The blood that contained the drug might worsen Lisa's injuries. That was not what I wanted to see.

"Today is our first wedding anniversary, Atticus," she said softly.

I felt a slight pain in my heart, but I quickly ignored it.

"Will this affect the blood transfusion?" I turned to the doctor beside me.

"It won't, Alpha." The doctor grabbed Eloise's arm and forcefully inserted the thick needle into her blood vessel. She seemed to be trembling.

Wasn't she powerful?

"I don't need to look at her," I said to my wolf. I turned around and left the room.

"Hurry up." I turned around and added.

According to the doctor, Lisa could not wait much longer. Just as I was thinking about her, she called me.

"How do you feel now?"

"I'm very sorry to have caused you trouble again. " In the video call, she looked fragile, like a glass doll.

"There's no need to be sorry when you're with me." I felt like my heart was going to break.

She started to pant heavily, and the caretaker had to end the call. I looked at a picture of her and sighed.

She saved me many years ago, so I should have protected her well. And the most appropriate way was to marry her.

The Moon Goddess would choose mates for werewolves, and when two mates get close, they would feel something special. But this had never happened between Lisa and me. Even so, I still managed to fight for the opportunity to marry her.

If it weren't for Eloise, Lisa would have become my Luna.

"Don't be sad about the Moon Goddess's arrangement. This only means that she thinks you will have a better choice." My Beta, Jude, handed me a piece of cake.

"Maybe your mate hasn't found her wolf, so you can't sense her. But no matter what, you should replenish your energy now. "

Wolves could smell their mates' unique scent, allowing them to find each other. As for those who had yet to awaken their wolf bloodline for various reasons, they would not be found. Of course, I understand this. But this time, for some reason, Eloise appeared in my mind.

I bit the cake as hard as possible as if it was her neck. If she was my partner, then the Moon Goddess had made a mistake.

"Of course, I don't want Eloise to be the one. In her current situation, she couldn't distinguish between the wolf's voice and her auditory hallucinations. Furthermore, transforming into a wolf would cause her to faint. That would cost her her life," Jude continued to nag.

Dear Moon Goddess, he better not say that! I glared at him, and he shut his mouth.

I was more concerned about the blood than this.

"But then again, Eloise is half-human. Are you sure she won't feel uncomfortable if you draw her blood like this?" Jude looked at me as if he didn't understand.

Why was my Beta on her side?

"If she could think of such a way to marry me, she must have made some preparations. The truth is that she's been holding on until now, isn't it?"

Look at her face before! When she forced me to marry her, she had no fear at all!

"Lisa was injured, and she was the cause of all this. Therefore, she should pay the price for this. "

If Lisa didn't save me back then, I was sure I wouldn't even be alive today. Anyone who hurt her should be punished.
