And then all of a sudden, in the blink of an eye she realized what was happening. Suddenly a time- out came up to her mind. She come to think that she is Zaviah from Mondragon clan who must have a mission to do in Villaverde race. But how could she even discover what must she need to know if she was in the trap of Miguel. She pushed away the man over her. She still fortunate that she did it before she even regretted all. Gradually she became more annoyed as she sees a sweet smile on Miguel's face after that.
"I need to say sorry I guess, Zav."
Miguel felt sorry as when he saw the disappointment on Zaviah's face.
"Nothing to say sorry. It's nothing. A stupid thing happened. But it's happened anyway. If there is someone to blame. It is no other than me. Sometimes there is a temptation but not a responsibility, that's all you have to think about it. Don't take it seriously," she replied.
It seemed she was insulted by Miguel's crazy smile. But she doesn't want to think of it as an insult because she might just be provoked and lost to the right way of what she wanna do. She will embody the pretense of being strong. But deep inside she felt sorry for herself too. She didn't want to blame herself because of what had already happened. Zaviah fell silent after speaking. She pick up her clothes and put it on again to her body.
"Be ready. We will be going to Manila tomorrow." Miguel said.
As it got up and left the room. It even locked the door. Zaviah laid on bed completely. And she didn't noticed she went to a sleep but she is restless. That even in her dream what happened to them before she fell asleep happened again. Was her dream nightmare or a happy imagination while sleeping. It was a nightmare because she's a Mondragon. But it's also a happy imagination because she's wanting for it. She continued to move on bed. She sleeps as if she's not. She can't calm her mind. It bothers her that even though she doesn't want to think, it still seems like she can't get rid of it.
'Oh please stop get out of my mind' She nodded as she spoke it to herself.
She get up and sit on the sofa. Loud knocking on the door she hears.
She couldn't hardly believe that it would be morning. There no enough time to get back on bed and to catch a sleep. No choice but headed to open the door. She was sure it was Miguel who was knocking. From that moment on she would pretend as if no one had ruled on her mind.
"I already brought your breakfast here."
"Thank you."
She continued to hold the tray. She was already hungry because she didn't eat dinner.
"You probably never heard me knock on your door last night."
"I'm sorry because I haven't. I'm already asleep."
"Maybe you hated me more."
"We won't talk about that. The food is getting cold. I'm going to eat. You can leave me, Miguel."
"Okay, just be ready. I'll knock again later."
Miguel left with a shrug. It was better for him to feel that he was being teased than for him to talk to coldly as ice.
"Why are we going to Manila?"
Miguel stopped walking and turned around. He didn't know yet if he could tell about the purpose they were going. It's not sure yet if they will that someone Zaviah's finding for.
"There where you'll find it out," Miguel answered.
Zaviah was just taking a shower and wearing a t-shirt and jeans. She put on her feet sneakers to be more comfortable. She wear thin red lipcolor on her beautiful lips.
"Whatever the reason for our walk I hope it has something to do with the help you said."
"Yes Zav. Sit down here."
It even opened the car door for her. Fixed and cleaned the seat before finally letting her sit.
She seated at the front. And felt that there was a wall that divide between the two of them.
"I know you're no longer comfortable with me. And I haven't promised you anything yet, Zav."
Miguel held her left hand as he spoke. And was still looking straight at the road because he was driving.
"I am not expecting it too. I also don't like commitment."
She didn't like what she said. As a woman those words were degrading. She has a pride that doesn't want to lower. She doesn't want to look like she is chasing too. But if Miguel would make any promise it's another not. Not in a Villaverde the man she would love.
"But we'll get married because it's we need to."
Zaviah looked at the man who is talking. She couldn't understand what it was saying about marriage because they needed to.
"No we're not getting married," she quickly replied.
"Miguel is silent because he still can't tell Zaviah the reason why he is offering marriage.
"You will marry me because you want to know about Stella's child."
Suddenly Zaviah's blood rushed up to her head. Because Miguel was even able to tell her like it was a condition. They didn't talk like that in the first place.
"Is that a black mail? What kind of agreement is that?"
Zaviah has her forehead furrowed out of confussion.
She stared at Miguel who was waiting for her questions to be answered. She heard no answer. Like a quiet person who didn't hear what she was talking about. So her mind was left hanging in the air.
Miguel talked after his long silence. Maybe thinking first of what to say. And how to convince her.
"No."
"So what does it mean?"
"Let's just get married."
"No. This is how we are. It's like just playing with fire. No responsibility to each other."
"So it means we're going to play a game, right? You don't want us to get married because we will both benefit from our legal marriage. Aren't you aftaid to lose."
Zaviah was annoyed by the answers of Miguel which were still vague as in dirty water. Silence remain. Neither of them wanted to open again the discussion.
