Slowly she opened her eyes instead. Nothing happened to her pretention. It just made her eyes felt sore. Anyway Miguel was asleep as well, she wasn't mistaken. That's why the grip on its hand loosened. She pulled away her hand and had a chance to stare at it intently. Her gaze find out how charming and kisable lips Miguel has. There were unpleasant thought running in her malicious mind. She was already holding her own lips and suddenly remembered her husband's kisses then. And she is still the wife even in the present moments of their life. She know that they are still legally married. There was no annulment role played. And she was also sure that it would be difficult for her to get an annulment if he talked to Miguel about those things. Zav got up and went out. Her mind was full of unwanted thoughts. She was ashamed to admit it to herself that she was thinking maliciously.
"Good afternoon," Jimboy greeted.
"Where are the mango pickers?" she asked the young man.
"They're already down the cliff. They've just finished picking up over here."
"All right Jimboy I'll go down there."
"Have you eaten lunch yet ma'am Zav?"
"Yeah I did. Maybe my son will find me. Just tell him where I am."
Jimboy just nodded and left as well. She would just walk so she could see the view of the cliff. She may not be a nature lover but she was impressed by the natural beauty of nature.
"Would you like to go out with me?" asked a man behind him.
That voice was familiar to her so she stopped. She suddenly remembered her son.
"Why did you just left our son?"
She didn't even look at the person she was talking to. Even with just the scent she smelled, she already knew it. Miguel was behind her, sure she was right. That was still his scent even then. Zaviah loves the perfume it uses.
"Don't worry, Jimboy was there in the hut," Miguel answered.
She could no longer speak. Felt like she had nothing more to say. And starting to get nervous. She was sure it would say a lot to her. She didn't even expect Miguel to embraced her even if it was on her back. She loves the arms that wrapped her around the waist.
'But is it right that I gave up so quickly' her rebellious mind said.
She removed the two arms that bound her. And step away to make the distance.
"I just think so. We need to talk about something," Zaviah said emphatically.
'We really don"t have anything to talk about."
Miguel talked definitely and honestly. He had to tell Zaviah what have he done for the Mondragons. The part he did that Zaviah doesn't know yet.
"After we got married, I returned part of the Rancho Villaverde land to Don Rafael. It really belongs to the Mondragons. As I had promised to my older brother's grave. The best decision I ever made since that was the right one. But you have judged me. Did I want to be the way to re-establish the relationship of Villaverdes and Mondragons. That has become my role. But to love you is what I want. Can I be no longer be a Villaverde and thus make you believe that my love for you has no mixed interest. Do I still have a choice, don't I? I wish I was born not Villaverde.
"I don't know, what to believe. Needless to mention in detail."
"Yes, you know. And nothing to be talked in detailed."
What her grandfather had said suddenly entered her mind. It clearly spoke about the land title. Her brain was busy as she made her way stepping down to the cliff.
Her gaze reached the mango pickers in the lowlands. All are busy putting mangoes in the crate. She did not see that she had stepped on the rock. It was removed and slide down, along with her feet. She slipped and fell to down. She cried out in shock and pain. Fortunately, Miguel was holding her right arm. Luckily, it was holding a large root of the mango tree. If not at the same time they will plunge down. Miguel pulled her up again slowly. And carefully supported to sit on the big root of the mango tree.
"I'm sorry if I didn't follow you. This won't happen to you."
Miguel eyes widened as it stared Zaviah's face. He could see how was still it hurt. The fall of her butt to the ground.
"You have nothing to apologize for. It's all just a coincidence."
"I guess there's still pain in you. I'll lift you up. Let's go back to the hut."
He was worried that his wife might have a broken bone so he preferred to just carry it back to the hut.
"No. I feel a little better than whileago. I can walk now, even it would be slowly," Zaviah refused.
He stood up to show that she could walk. But still too painful, that made her sat down again unintentionally.
"I insist to lift you up. And I will tell you that you have no right to refuse." Miguel said nothing next.
He carefully lifted Zaviah. Whether it would say no again.
"O-kay. Thanks for doing this to me."
What else can she say. She secretly liked being lifted up. It feels good. All the pain had disappeared. Especially the resentment that she had too.
"I have the right to do this. Even if you had kicked me out of your life for many years. Now that you are in my arms again, I won't let you to continue ignoring me. I'm begging my wife.
Miguel sat for a moment on the wooden chair near the hut. Still having his wife on arms and sitted on his lap.
"You can take me down now."
"I will lock you here in my arms. I will not let you go."
Miguel's plea was mixed with threats. He makes sure that Zaviah could not run away from. Not until it understand his explaination.
"How about the little girl?" Zaviah asked unexpectedly.
"I don't know who's that little girl you're talking about. As far as I know about that little girl you've seen often with me. She's Rod's daughter, your nephew's daughter. I didn't look at or love other woman during the times you weren't around.
The girl with Miguel is the daughter of her nephew Rod. She smiled to herself and secretly shuddered. The man that she doubted did not look at or love other woman. But waiting her even there will be no assurance if she can came back.
"Oh! I think ..."
Zaviah hadn't finished what she wanted to say. Miguel immediately interrupted her.
" A lot is broken by delusion Zav."
He smiled until he could no longer bear his own. He kissed his wife on the lips. Warm and earnest kiss he did. And looked forward to kiss and hugging again the woman he loved. A few seconds lasted in that scene. At first Zaviah tried to push him but it couldn't stand it either. He just stopped as he felt something touching his back.
"Hey .. Wha-Why are you here?" Gadel is asking.
It even has a santan flower. And standing on his back. Obviously picked up near to the hut.
"Its more romantic dad... if--if you give this flower to mom."
It even covered its mouth after speaking. They both just giggled and laughed. They couldn't imagine that their son was behind them as they kissed each other.
