Trapped - Chapter 3
Loud voices are the only thing you can hear from every corner of the cafeteria. Some eat alone, some hangout with their friends, some study as well as some are still on the line.
Celestine enters the cafeteria and walks slowly so she doesn't bump on someone's back again. It might be good if that person is like Eli, who’s kind and gentle, but she doesn’t know yet anything about their place as well as their University.
“Do you know Eli in Class B?”
“No, I don’t know her”
“Who is she?”
“Yes, I know her”
“I accidentally heard from her classmates that she’s so weird”
“Like a freak?”
“I guess something like that hahaha”
The group of guys and girls were laughing out loud for making some issues about what they heard about Eli.
While on the line, Celestine as well as accidentally heard what they were saying, so as she finished buying some food, she went to that group and sat there without their permission.
“And who are you young lady?”
“Why are you sitting here with us?”
The girl with red curly hair asks while drinking her coffee.
“Oh do I need to ask permission to seat her with all of you?” Celestine asks full of sarcasm then smiles at her.
The girl with red curly hair felt irritated but then decided to smile back at her.
“There’s no need for that honey. Feel free to sit wherever you want”. She responded sarcastically.
“Would you mind if I ask who is that Eli you’re talking about earlier?” Celestine asks full of curiosity.
“So you also have sharp ears huh” The other girl with blonde hair said while smirking.
“Hmm well, it’s an advantage to have sharp ears. So that I know who says harsh words against my friend” She said in a sarcastic voice and stood up as well as threw the cup of juice she’s holding earlier.
"Oh so you're the friend of Eli". She said in a sarcastic voice.
They were shocked about the incident they've seen. The girl's face was so irritated to the point that she wanted to punch Celestine's cute face.
"Oops, I didn't mean to talk about you behind my back oh no no, I didn't mean to throw it to you". Celestine said then left them with surprised as well as irritated expressions.
Those who saw the incident remained quiet for a moment, some of them were also shocked, then some of them were busy eating their food while watching, as if they were watching a movie.
Celestine immediately went back to their classroom because she was getting irritated by what she heard earlier.
"What took you so long, I'm starving" Eli presumed while she's still asleep and rubbing her eyes.
Eli must've been distracted by the loud voices of the crowd.
"Ohh, the line is too slow to move". Celestine said and gave Eli the food and drinks she bought earlier.
"Thank you". Eli responds and immediately eats the food she has.
Celestine is blankly staring at her friend Eli who's eating her snacks at the moment. Eli noticed Celestine staring at her, so all of a sudden she smiled while there were foods inside her mouth, so she actually looks like a kid with a chubby face. Celestine's entire face blushed, as if she were a cherry. She instantly averted her gaze, fearful that Eli would tease her again. She once again heard Eli's cute chuckles, while showing the small dimple on her right cheeks.
Celestine's face is completely red, even Eli's laugh as well as small chuckles make her blush. Eli laughed while looking and watching her friend turning red, she can't help but to laugh hard because of that.
Celestine looked at her with a blank expression as if she's trying hard not to get caught that she's still blushing.
Both Celestine and Eli looked at each other's eyes, in a span of thirty seconds Celestine was the first one to look away and both of them burst out laughing at what they're doing.
Celestine is still blushing so Eli continued to tease her friend.
"You're so cute". Eli utter out of nowhere.
She looks how Celestine's ear turns into red, so she immediately covers her entire face with her hoodie.
Eli continued laughing as well as continued teasing Celestine.
Eli almost started crying because of laughing so hard, she didn't even finish her food for teasing Celestine. She takes a small sip of her drink while preventing herself from laughing.
The ball rangs, a signal that the one hour break is done. All of the students as well as the teachers get back to their respective classes. They started to fix themselves as well as fix their things.
The second bell rungs, a sign that the next subject will soon start.
The entire classroom was filled with silence when a young good-looking guy entered the classroom. The whole class stared at him as if he was a famous idol.
Some students at the back were gossiping about the guy.
He radiates a presence in the classroom that is almost identical to Eli's, to the point where the entire classroom falls silent as she walks in.
"A pleasant day to all of you". He said in a deep and husky voice.
When the girls heard the guy's attractive voice, they were astonished. Some of them began to blush, while others began to smile like crazy people.
He took out his whiteboard marker and began writing his name.
' Giovanni Eleanor '
Even his name is handsome as he is. The masculine back of him, making the girls fall in love with him. The vanilla scent that he has, that is also covering up the entire place. His well arranged hair adds up to his whole masculinity. Though his dark aura is making some of the students doubt his abilities.
"Giovanni Eleanor".
He once again said in a husky as well as gentle voice. While looking and staring at each of his students.
The students remain silent as if he's intimidating them.
His gaze drifted to where Eli was sitting, they accidentally looked up to each other’s eyes. But Giovanni was the first one to look away, in view of the fact there is something mysterious in her eyes.
Giovanni started to introduce himself in a proper way, and also allow the students to have their chance to introduce themselves in front of the class.
“Kia Victoria,” A short girl with blonde hair said.
“Carly Connor”
“Penelope Smith”
“Sharlotte Hugo”
“Avril Chris”
“Raine Arya”
“Charlie Maigne”
“Steve Iris”
“Christopher Roman”
The introduction continues, however Eli is blankly looking outside the window.
"Celestine Lee, 18". She said nervously and exhaled.
"I do play badminton but I prefer playing basketball, that's all. Thank you". She immediately finishes what she was saying as well as immediately returns back to her seat.
"Last but not the least, you in a black hoodie," Giovanni said as he pointed his finger to where Eli was sitting.
Eli stands up immediately as if she expected anything will happen. As she walked in the middle of the aisle, her classmates were staring at her completely. Some were glaring at her as if they're trying to kill her while some were amazed by her simplicity as well as stunning beauty.
As Eli reached the front table, she stood up well, fixed herself and faced all of them, she started to roam her eyes around the room, and she smiled. Some of her classmates were astonished by her smile, some looked away because they’re getting irritated by her.
“Eli” She said in a calm voice as her smile vanished.
The whole class’ mood changed. The weather seems heavier as well as darker. There are crows flying outside the window, the chirping of birds gets louder and the cold breeze of the wind suddenly gets stronger.
Eli continued speaking in front of the class.
“Eli Fujihara, 18”
She stopped talking for a moment, and the whole class randomly went back from calmness.
“I do love music, especially from LANY, Paramore, Linkin Park and some other international bands”.
“I’m the only child as well, no brothers as well as no sisters”.
“I only live with my mother right now”
Eli once again stopped speaking for a moment. Most of her classmates' eyes widen as they hear what she is talking about. While looking around, she catches a glimpse of his professors’ smirk, as if he’s trying to show something that is related to her life.
She stared at him with a blank expression then continued to speak.
“Hope we’ll have a great time together. Thank you”. She smiled gently as she ended her statement. Then go back to her seat.
All of them applaud for the successful self introduction.
“Once again, Giovanni Eleanor. And I will be your Science teacher for the whole academic year”. He smiled.
“Hey Eli, are you doing well?” Celestine asked as she looked at her friend that was zoning out again.
Eli heard her voice, that's why she looked at her with a blank expression. Celestine just smiled, for she knows that this is Eli, the one who always zones out, anytime as well as anywhere.
Celestine snap her fingers in front of Eli’s face all of a sudden, and it seems to work because Eli is back to her normal action as well as behavior, though she doesn’t speak that much, for sure there are lot of things running through her subconscious mind.
Some of their peers were unintentionally glancing at Eli while undertaking some of the activities that their teacher had assigned earlier. The fact that they already knew something about her life and could use it against her. Eli, on the other hand, is unconcerned about the odd lethal looks she encounters since she knows herself better than anyone. As a result, their stares have no bearing on her life.
Class is dismissed earlier, and most students have already left for lunch break, while others sleep and eat in their rooms. Celestine was reluctant to go out because she was worried something horrible would happen to her friend, Eli.
“Hey look at this girl”. A thin and tall girl named Penelope said, while pointing at Eli who’s now blankly staring at her.
“I pity you for not having the best and complete happy family”. A short brown haired girl named Avril utter sarcastically.
Both of them as well as their other peers laughed sarcastically while looking at where Eli is. On the other hand, a tall white guy named Steve, walked towards Eli’s place and stared at her face without showing any expression. He explores her face as if he’s trying to familiarize every inch and corner of her body. While Eli is just staring at them blankly, until Celestine comes after buying food, and immediately runs towards Eli’s direction. Celestine looked at them and they just laughed before leaving them, Steve’s still standing on the other side of Eli.
“What?” Steve asked.
Celestine gestured to get lost because they’re going to eat their lunch. Steve understood it right away so he just shrugged it off then once again looked at Eli before finally leaving the two ladies.
“Are you okay?” Celestine asked full of curiosity as well as concern.
“Yah I’m good, I didn’t even say a single word towards them, they’re not worth it to waste my time as well as my saliva, just to say nonsense things. It’s much better to stay quiet for a while, then let’s see”. Eli explained before opening the foods she had.
All of a sudden, both of them laughed because of nothing, it is maybe because they share the same mind, though Eli doesn’t talk that much unlike Celestine.
