There was more to life than my witty mind and subconscious thought there was. I have seen it, I have lived in it, I have experienced it and I have endured it. That wasn't going to be for my child, that was a mother's promise.
I sat by my son on the bed. He looked confused and exhausted even in his sleep. I stroked his hair before placing a deep kiss on his head he groaned, stretching before jerking his eyes open and yawning.
"Hey, sweetheart," I called softly as I continued to stroke his hair.
"What happened, mummy?" he asked again, just like he had been asking.
"Nothing, baby. Nothing. This is just like a mini vacation, okay?"
"Where's nana?" he asked as he squinted his eyes to look around the room.
"She's with grandpa in the garden," I answered him.
"Grandpa?" he repeated with a broad smile playing on his sleepy lips. "I wanna see grandpa," he added as he was trying to stand from the bed.
