The hunt

Did you know that it is customary for hunters to drink the blood of their first kill?

When It comes down to hunting animals, I’m not a huge fan. Hunting people, on the other hand, is far more exciting. The people I hunt usually don’t really want found, and that’s what makes it exciting. Like a gladiator facing off against a lion, they fight for their lives trying to cover their tracks. Sadly, no one ever gets away from me, and there is a reason for that. I don’t care about any Ideals, I will go to any extent to catch my prey.

So reaper or not, here I come…

The “modern” reaper is actually the second killer to go by this alias. He received it because of the similarity between the manner in which the murders were executed. The first “reaper” was documented to have committed 21 murders. They had the habit of brutally torturing their victims, never actually killing them, instead the killer would leave them to die due to the condition they were left in after the torture. The torture seemed to revolve around the fatal flaw the killer saw in their prey. So, for example, a person blind to the suffering of others would have his eyes cut out and would inevitably die in a public place because of no one wanting to help him.

Our current reaper appeared 2 years after the original one had stopped killing. He is known for being a lot more violent and actually killing his victims with his own hands. The most significant difference between the two is the second reaper only goes after criminals and the first one would pick out a person they saw as “pest” in society. Because of this, the second reaper is viewed as somewhat of a vigilante by some and has even started to gain an online following of individuals who express their gratitude to this brutal killer. He is even rumored to have inspired a terrorist organization by the name of “The red blood”, but rumors are just that, rumors.

Well, time to crack the case.

The first clue, ironically, comes from his last kill. Mal Cipher, a man obsessed with a young and attractive investigator by the name of Alice. I believe he and the killer share this obsession. See, I happened to have examined our victims’ house before the police got to it; them being busy people and all. Honestly, I was there before they even found his body. What I found there were preparations for a kidnapping, a rented storage, handcuffs, gags, tasers, sedatives, everything that a crazed lover-boy would need in his arsenal. Likely our killer investigated Mal, because he and Alice seemed close and were forced to take action to protect her.

Upon this realization, everything seemed to fit right in most of the deaths are revolved around Alice.

First came a young man who seemed to be a killer himself. With further personal investigation, I found out that Alice was likely to be on his target list.

Then there was a known mafia boss, Alice was a part of the team investigating?

Then came the wife of a well-known investigator that just happened to be the superior of our girl. This was the most gruesome of the murders and the reason this killer got his alias “the Reaper.”

Number four was a businessman (couldn’t find any ties to Alice)

Next, there was an abusive drill instructor. It seemed like Alice went through hell because of this guy.

There used to be a serial rapist out on the streets., the word is he ended up with all of his sexual organs removed.

He was a martial artist who assaulted officer Steve Chern and both of his sons. He died from pain shock after having most of the bones in his body ground to dust.

There was only one man who came face to face with the killer and managed to get away before being recaptured. He was the first investigator to be assigned to the reaper case.

She was a teacher. After her death, it was found out that she blackmailed her students into sexual relationships.

Was a female killer who had an obsession with killing women.

He was almost caught while trying to dissolve the body in chemicals. The identity of the victim is still unknown to this day.

He was a vigilante killer going after the reaper was found hanged using his entrails.

He was Alice’s partner when she took up this case.

As a doctor who extorted money out of his patients, Alice used to be assigned to his case. Died from a large drug injection. It is unlike the reaper to give his victim a peaceful death.

Mal Cipher, he’s been stalking Alice for around 4 years, was killed as an attempt to protect Alice. He was missing for a week before he was found dead next to a hospital with his vocal chords and tongue missing, dressed as a homeless man. It seems like the killer really enjoyed himself with this one.

In order to find out who exactly the killer is, I have devised a plan. I have been hanging around Alice, making myself seem like another male interested in her. Slowly I will hint at my darker side in order to provoke the killer, he will investigate my apartment, he will find a diary there I detail my obsession with Alice, and describe my plan to take her to the cliff side and propose my undying love to her, here I will have multiple cameras set up near the best vantage points and parking lots. He will most likely still follow me in the car. In his eyes, I’m unpredictable. Just to spook him, I will jump off the cliff with Alice. The sooner he goes after me, the better.

Just as I predicted, the idiot swallowed the bait. I matched the data I got from some of our dates, and there was only one vehicle that occurred during most of our pre-planned interactions.
