Jacques barely blinked her eyes, sitting across from Luca and her husband, Adam Crowell, in the flesh. The horror of knowing a person she was talking about heard everything she said added to her shock. Now, she had to recall if she ever crossed the line with her words.

"Jacques asked me if I'm into older men." Luca faced Adam with a playful smile. "I told her age is just a number."

Adam chuckled. "Oh? The rumor? About my age?"

"Well…" Luca shrugged, knowing Adam was quick to understand things. Moreover, she wanted to hear his explanation about this. She knew he was a mayor of some sort, and the reason he could have a luxurious lifestyle was that he inherited his deceased parent's wealth.

Her trust issues here consisted of the peak.
