One step at a time

"You seem not surprised." Luca leaned her side against the jamb of the bedroom, folding her arms underneath her chest. Her eyes were on Adam sitting on the chair near the small round table inside. "Though I think you already figured it out."

Adam offered a meek smile, watching her peel her side from the jamb. Luca marched inside leisurely and then sat down across from him.

"You nearly killed me the first time I spoke more than I should." He shrugged. "I don't want to die."

Luca let out a shallow laugh, shaking her head mildly. Today was too much for her. She gathered her team and told them to tell her everything Luca needed to know. She thought she was ready, but well, it wasn't like she had a choice.

"Leviticus, huh?" she whispered, arching a brow when she noticed her husband was just staring at her side profile. "What?"

"Nothing." He smiled gently. "I'm just curious what your people plan later."
