Chapter 7 The Two Girls

"What do you think you guys are doing?!"

After hearing the shout, everyone turned their attention towards its direction instinctively, all except for one, Chrys, who holstered his weapon before raising his hands, all while wearing a small smile.

Then, the next moment after that, a red-headed girl came rushing in from afar. But before she could arrive at the scene, one of the respectable-looking people said to the woman. "Boss, that's her!"

To which the woman reacted. "Shit! Make a break for it boys!"

And so, everyone scattered away from the scene, with some rushing into the nearby buildings, some simply running towards the opposite direction of the red-headed girl, and some running past Chrys in the moment of panic, all while Chrys remained calm and silent.

"Don't get caught, you useless pieces of trash!"

And as the people continued to flee the scene, Chrys calmly made his way toward Miya, who was thrown to the ground in the panic that ensued.

But before he could walk up the stairs, the red-headed girl arrived on the scene.

And with a pull, she tore a part of the railing before throwing the pipe toward one of the fleeing criminals, hitting them in the back of the head.

"Argh!"

And as the criminal fell to the floor, the red-headed girl assisted Miya up before saying. "Please hold on for a moment."

And after saying that, the redhead leaped the staircase, passing Chrys on the way, but paying him no mind.

And with a short sprint, the redhead reached the down criminal, who then ate the ground with the aid of the girl's foot.

"Ack!"

And as the redhead continued to stomp on the criminal's head with excessive force, Chrys stood before the shook Miya, asking her with a calm tone. "Miya, are you okay?"

To which Miya replied. "Ye-yes. It just... Everything happened a little too fast for me."

Then, Chrys said. "Good. Now, play along. Another one is coming."

"Huh?"

And as Miya stared at him with confusion, a haggard girl with long, black hair emerged from the direction where the redhead came from.

"Huff, huff!"

And as she stumbled her way over, she scanned the scene with her amber-colored eyes.

And after her eyes took in the redheaded girl stomping on a helpless man, the broken railing, and Chrys and Miya, who were staring at her, the black-haired girl gave a heavy exhale among her ragged breathing. "Haa..."

And after a bit, she arrived before Chrys and Miya. And after placing her hands on her knees, the black-haired girl said. "Please... wait for a... moment..."

And as the black-haired girl caught up with her breath, the redhead finally decided to stop stomping on the criminal, who has lost consciousness thanks to the beating she gave him.

And after grabbing onto the criminal's leg, the redhead began dragging their body towards the rest.

"Phew! Is anyone hurt?" The black-haired girl asked after regaining her breath.

To which Chrys replied with a friendly smile and demeanor. "No one was hurt, thanks to your friend intervening."

And after a bit of a pause and stare, the black-haired girl seemingly snapped out of a daze as she said. "Ah! Yes, my friend. Rose! You are supposed to take care of the victims first before going after the perpetrators!"

After hearing the black-haired girl shout at her, the girl with the long, red hair named Rose, replied. "What do you mean? I helped her stand up before going after this guy. Isn't that right?"

After receiving the redhead's question and attention, Miya suddenly froze up before saying. "Ye-yes?"

"See. It's fine." Said Rose with a cheeky grin.

"Just... No." Said the black-haired girl before turning her attention back toward Chrys and Miya.

"Are you sure that no one was hurt?"

"No, but thank you for asking," Chris said while maintaining a friendly demeanor.

"Are you her guardian, sir?"

"Yes," Chrys replied.

After staring at Chrys' black hair and friendly smile, and Miya's black hair and confused grey eyes, the black-haired girl gave a nod before asking Miya. "Is this true?"

To which Miya replied. "Ye-yes."

"Are you still shook? Try breathing in and out, that might calm you down."

Then, the black-haired girl began saying. "In, out. In, out."

After receiving the black-haired girl's gentle request, Miya began breathing in and out on the girl's count.

"Agh, can someone help me with the stairs?" Rose said as struggled to move the criminal's unconscious body up the stairs, leading to where the rest are.

"Here, let me help you," Chrys said with a friendly smile.

"Thank you, mister?"

"Mister is just fine."

And as Chrys and Rose did their own thing, the black-haired girl began counting. "One. Two. One. Two. One. Two."

Then, with a small smile, Miya continued to breathe in and out at the girl's command.

"Are you okay now?" Asked the black-haired girl.

To which Miya answered with a smile. "Yes. Thank you for saving me and Chrys."

After an eerily long silence, the black-haired girl asked with a very blank expression. "...Chrys? Isn't that-"

But before she could finish, Chrys let Rose carry the criminal's body all on her own before walking towards the confused Miya.

Then, while still wearing his friendly demeanor, Chrys placed a hand on Miya's head before confirming Amber's question while staring at her with his golden eyes. "Yes, that's me. My name is Chrys. Nice to meet you, miss?"

"...Amber." The black-haired girl replied with a bit of a ghostly expression.

Then, Rose dropped the criminal's body onto the stairs before rushing to the side of the frozen Amber, saying with a smile. "That's right. This is Amber and I am Rose, a Peacekeeper from Titan."

While still maintaining his friendly smile, Chrys asked with some enthusiasm. "A Peacekeeper? I have heard of you."

"You did?"

"Yes, when we were boarding the lift earlier, the conductor warned us about an impulsive, young, redheaded peacekeeper, who was a tendency to poke her nose where it doesn't belong."

With a friendly smile of her own, Rose said. "That doesn't sound like me at all. Hahaha!"

"No, it does not. Hahaha!" Chrys said before laughing along with Rose.

But as the other two laughed, Amber meanwhile, was grimacing helplessly as she chuckled to herself with a distant look in her eyes. "Hehehe..."

All the while, Miya, who still has Chrys' hand atop her head, looked down at the ground with a complicated expression, mumbling to herself. "Dead."

Then all of a sudden, the laughter stopped, drowning the scene in silence, but it was quickly broken when Rose said. "Amber and I should get going, we still need to give that guy to the authorities."

Then, with a smile, Chrys stared at Rose with his golden eyes before saying. "If that's the case, then we should come with you. Witness and the such. We don't want the authorities suspecting that you just beat up a normal civilian, now do we?"

With a giggle, Rose said with a smile. "That won't be necessary, Mister Chrys. Like you said earlier, I have a bit of a reputation here."

"I see what you mean, but someone over there might hold some hatred towards you. I don't want our savior to be in trouble, now do we? Take it as a payment for helping us." Chrys said with a calm, gentle smile.

"Ah, well..."

Met with Chrys' words, Rose moved between Amber and Chrys before saying. "If you insist, let us go together."

But then, Amber, who was behind Rose, tugged on her clothes while saying with a wavering voice. "We still have to go to school, Rose."

Overhearing her words, Chrys then suggested. "Then we should get a move on, isn't that right, Miss Amber Tenebris?"

Hearing her name get spoken, Amber tensed up before nodding behind Rose.

Then with a chuckle, Chrys said. "I saw your nameplate. Come on, help me with this guy."

"... I got you."

Then, Rose and Chrys picked up the unconscious criminal before walking towards the nearest station, with Miya and Amber in tow.

Seeing Miya's slow pace behind him, Chrys said with a calm tone. "Miya, keep up. Or you will get lost again."

To which Miya replied with a tensed expression. "Ye-yes, Ajax."

As Miya walked next to Chrys, Rose, who was between Chrys and Amber, asked as they walked. "Ajax?"

And with a smile, Chrys explained. "Well, you see. Whenever I use my real name, Chrys, everybody freaks out."

"Is it because it's the name of 'that guy?'" Rose asked as she continued to help drag the unconscious man through the streets.

"Yes, and by looking at your reactions, you seem to assume I am 'that guy.'" Chrys calmly stated.

With a giggle, Rose said. "Well, you seem to fit his description, you know. Golden eyes, black hair, has neither good nor bad vibe around him... A liar. Everything just seems to fit perfectly."

"Hahaha, and so I have been told. It's become a real problem, you know. Can't go about my day without people assuming I'm out to kill them. Really hurts my soul."

"Haha, I think you are a great person, Mister Chrys."

"Haha, I appreciate that very much, Rose."

And after saying that, Chrys then turned his attention past Rose and onto Amber, who keeps on hiding behind Rose.

"What about you, Miss Tenebris, what do you think of me?" Chrys calmly asked.

"..."

After hearing a question directed at her, Amber froze up in place, causing her to be left behind.

After everybody slowed down and turned toward her, Rose asked as she hid her face in her red hair. "Amber, keep up, you dummy."

Then, with a bit of hesitation, Amber turned to look Rose in the eyes, which are still somewhat hidden in her hair.

Then, as she caught up, Amber said. "Sorry."

And as the four of them continued, five counting the unconscious guy that they are carrying, Chrys then spoke once more. "You didn't answer my question, Amber."

Then once again, Amber froze up once more, but before she could be left behind again, Rose gave her a little kick to the shin as she said. "Don't be rude, Amber. He is asking you a question."

After receiving Rose's encouragement, Amber moved once more saying. "I'm sorry, Mister Cheria. I've been having a really bad day."

With a gentle smile, Chrys said. "Don't worry, we all have those days. Everything will get better soon, don't worry."

"T-thank you."

"Just to make it clear, I am not 'that guy,' Miss Amber. We might share the same name and features, but I am not him, got it?" Chrys said calmly.

"I-I got it."

"Who am I not, Miss Amber?" Chrys calmly asked.

Then, with a bit of a horrified expression, Amber replied. "You are not The Greediest Man in the World - Chrys 'Golden Hands' Cheria."

"Good. Good. Miss Velvet?"

"Yes, that's me," Rose replied.

"Who am I not, Peacekeeper?"

With a calm, playful look, Rose said. "You are not the single most dangerous and most wanted man in the world - Chrys 'Golden Hands' Cheria."

And with a friendly smile, Chrys said. "Good. Just had to may it clear. Oh, we are here already."

"It would seem so. Okay then, Mister Chrys. Why don't you and uh, Miya, stay here while Amber and I go and deal with this guy? Just wave or something when we point at you." Rose proposed.

"Sounds good to me. Come on, Miya. Let's take a seat over there."

And so, as Chrys and Miya took a seat together across the street, Rose and Amber dragged the unconscious man over to the station, where people immediately took the man before beginning to argue with Rose while Amber just watched.

Meanwhile, across the street, Miya stared at the ground as she sat next to Chrys, who is watching the scene across the road.

Then, Miya spoke with a barely audible voice. "I-I am so sorry. Pl-please, let them go..."

Then, with a sigh, Chrys said. "Don't worry. I already handled it. Isn't that right, Beast?"

"W-what do you mean, Beast?" Miya asked with a whispery tone.

"I am not referring to you, Miya. There is somebody else listening."

"I see..." Miya said before falling into complete silence.

Then, Chrys said. "I know you are still thinking about it, don't. I'd hate to ask your father for an autograph."

And right after speaking those words, a certain girl across the street trembled in place.
