Chapter 25 Nightmare

Miya's point of view

I woke up in my bed in my room. I got off my bed and placed my feet firmly on the ground before I began stretching my body. I walked out of my room while still rubbing my eyes.

"Mom, I had this weird dream last night." I said as I walked into the kitchen.

"Huh? Mom? Ma, where are you?" I asked, noticing that there was no reply.

I looked through the window in the kitchen to see if she was out in the back.

I could not see her.

All I could see was the green grass, flowing trees, and the sea in the background.

"Pa, where did ma-" I stopped talking as I stepped into the dining room.

"Wait, didn't something like this happened before?" I asked myself, feeling a bit of what they call déjà vu.

"Ah!" I suddenly realized why this felt familiar.

It was a dream, exactly like this one. In the dream where I can't find my parents

"Ma, Pa, where are you?" I shouted as I ran around the house frantically.

As I was passing the front window, I saw a burning light in the corner of my eye. I stopped immediately and looked.

The burning light was just that. A burning light, the ones that a fire produces It seemed like the entire outside world was on fire. I hurriedly ran towards the door.

"Come on, come on, come on." I said as I tried to open the door. I seemed to be locked in.

"Miya..." I suddenly heard a feminine voice come from the other side of the door. It was the voice of my mother.

"Mom? Mom!!! Help me, open the door! " I screamed.

"Miya, I—" My mother's voice tried to say something, but was cut off by someone else.

Miya, run. "Go away! " A masculine voice shouted. It was my father this time.

"Dad!! Help me open this door! What do you mean by 'run'? " I yelled as I tried to pull the door open.

"Miya, I—" My mother tried to speak again.

Suddenly, the heat got more intense. I felt the heat caress my face. The light from the window seemed more intense.

"Ma! What's happening out there?! " I shouted in distress.

"Miya, I—" My mother began to speak again, but her voice was soon drowned by the sound of the flames crackling.

"Mom!!! Dad!!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs as I tried to push the door open.

I awoke unexpectedly from a sleeping bag. by dried dirt and other sleeping bags. I shook my head since I felt my head ache.

"You okay?" A voice suddenly spoke out.

I turned to look for the source, to find a pair of glowing golden eyes staring at me. I felt a chill run up my spine as I looked directly into them.

"Hey, are you fully awake?" The voice spoke again.

I rubbed my eyes to see more clearly. I then turned to look at the source of the voice again to see who it was.

black hair, yellow eyes, and all black clothing. It was Chris. He was sitting on a piece of log, throwing sticks onto a fire.

"Uh, yeah, it's just that a... a dream... a nightmare." I replied as I began to inspect my surroundings. There were multiple sleeping bags around me.

"Okay, I understand." Chrys said, throwing another stick on the fire.

"Umm, what are you doing?" I asked.

"Maintaining the fire." It gets very cold in the desert at night. I guess you don't remember what happened a couple of hours ago. " He asked.

"Huh? What happened a couple of hours ago? " I asked as I scratched my head and tried to remember.

"Nothing in particular. "The three of you girls were shaking in your bags, so Lilly said to make a fire, and move you guys closer together." He replied.

"Oh, t-thank you." I thanked.

"It was Lilly's idea." "Go back to sleep; it's still a long time before sunrise. He said.

"Can I, uh... wash my face before I go back to bed?" I asked.

"No need to ask that, go ahead." Chrys said as he waved his hand towards the puddle he made earlier.

I stood up and began to make my way towards the puddle. I squatted down by the puddle and scooped up a handful of water, which I then splashed onto my face.

I began to think of the dream that I just had. Like any other dream, I can't remember it fully; it's all... fuzzy.

All I remember was me getting separated from my parents. I think my mother was trying to say something, but I just can't remember.

I hit the puddle with a swipe as I looked at my reflection in the water. It was the face of someone who was frustrated and angry. I took a deep breath and headed back.

On my way back, I saw a flash of green behind one of the trucks. I stolethily took cover behind one of the truck's tires. I then took a peek to see who caused that flash.

I saw a man with green hair and green claws. He swiped away at the empty air like he was fighting for his life.

Wait, I know this man. His name was... V! Yeah...

I relaxed my body and exhaled. I didn't disturb him and headed back to bed.

"Hmm? "You okay now?" Chrys asked as I got back.

"Y-yeah, I'm feeling... better than before." I replied.

"By the way, I saw Mr. V over there." I said as I pointed towards Mr. V's direction.

"Don't mind him; that's normal." Chrys stated.

Okay, I'm going back to bed now. I said as I got ready to sleep again.

"Yeah, try not to have a nightmare in your sleep." Chrys said as he threw another stick on the fire.

I tucked myself into bed, and tried to sleep. It took me a while to sleep since I kept thinking about the dream I had, but I decided to clear my mind and think about it later. I quickly fell asleep.

I woke up after feeling the warmth of the morning sun on my face. I opened my eyes and took a look around me. A bunch of sleeping bags, some with people still in them, some empty.

"Ouch!" I released a painful noise as I pinched myself. I guess this isn't a dream.

"What was that? You okay? " A white-haired lady asked. It's Miss Lilly.

"Oh, no problem here." I reassured her.

"Okay, well. Why don't you go and wash yourself up? " "Miss Lilly," she said pointing towards the puddle.

"Yup!" I stood up, walked over, and washed my face. I took a deep breath and headed back.

"Good... morning!" Rose yawned as she stretched her arms upwards.

"Oh, morning!" I greeted

"Hey, Amber, wake up! It's all ready for morning! " Rose shook Amber by her side.

"Ah, I don't think she needs"

Suddenly, Amber shot up from her bed, cold sweat dripping down her face. She took a look around with wide open eyes, like she was lost.

After looking around, she calmed down a bit and stood up quietly. Both she and Rose moved towards the puddle to wash their faces.

It looks like everybody is awake. Could you help me pack the sleeping bags up? " Miss Lilly asked.

I immediately gave my answer and began helping her.

After we folded the sleeping bags, Rose came back and asked. "Hello, Lady Lilly, do we already have breakfast or-"

"There should be some dry biscuits in our truck. Can you find them and distribute them for me?" Miss Lilly asked politely.

"Yes, Madam!" Rose said as she ran towards one of the trucks.

"Eh, Madam?" Miss Lilly's face had the look of shock.

I decided to not dwell for the reason of her shock and asked. "Can I help with something else?"

"No, nothing in particular. You can just wait inside one of the trucks after eating. We will be leaving soon."

I nodded as Rose got back with a box full of biscuits. I grabbed a handful, and headed towards the other truck.

As I was about to enter, I saw a green haired man laying on one of the seats. It was Mister V.

"Ah!" I unintentionally made a noise of surprise since it caught me off guard.

"Huh?" He then opened his eyes and stared at me.

"It's still too early to be making loud noises." He said as he got back into his nap.

I didn't get a chance to apologize so I just kept quiet, and sat on a empty seat. I silently ate my biscuits as Mister V didn't utter another word.

I feel like I should start a conversation, but he doesn't seem particularly in the mood. I don't even know what to say if I did start a conversation, so it's better if I stay quiet.

"Hey, I told you two, no more playing. We are leaving!" A voice shouted.

I popped my head to see what was going on. I saw Chrys, grabbing both Loki and Hela on the head. I guess it was Chrys' voice that I heard, didn't really take him for someone who would raise their voice.

I'm pretty sure I heard Mister V snicker behind me. But, as I turned to look, I saw that he didn't move from his spot.

I tried opening my mouth to start a conversation, but no words came out, only biscuit crumbs.

I gave up on starting a conversation, and just kept on watching what was going on outside.

"Alright, you two, head over to V's truck, sit there and wait. No messing around!" Chrys said as he looked both Hela and Loki in the eyes. He then released his grasp on them. Both of them quickly got on the truck I was in.

They both sat across from me. They then just stared at me, without saying anything. It unnerved me a bit.

I followed their gaze which landed on my hand that is full of biscuits. I then offered my hand towards them.

They both grabbed a sizeable share from my hand. I only have a few biscuits in my possession. I felt kinda sad.

Then, Hela's other hand came forward. I thought she was going to take the rest of my biscuits, so I unconsciously closed my hand, and tucked it back.

Hela's hand continued to head towards me, despite my actions. I kinda just stared at it, and guarded my remaining biscuits. Hela's hand then landed on my head, it was a bit forceful and a somewhat heavy landing. I felt like a heavy rock landed on my head.

"Thank you." Hela said as she smiled at me.

I guess this is her way of expressing thank you. It was in the form of a head pat, it was... nice?

Although, the head pat was a bit forceful, I certainly feel the sincerity.

"You're welcome." I then smiled back at her.

I suddenly felt a wave of security, so I let my guard down on my biscuits. I then turned my attention back outside.

"Hey, Lilly, are we done here?" Chrys said.

"Yep, I'm going to pack up the sleeping bags when I get on. Besides that, we are done." Miss Lilly replied.

"Alright, we'll go back to our places like yesterday. Tell V to wake up and drive."

Suddenly, Rose ran up towards them with an excited smile.

"Can I drive instead?" Rose asked.

"Mmm, no…." Chrys gave his answer after looking at Rose's face.

"Why?!" Rose asked, looking extremely surprised and somewhat angry.

"A bad feeling. Instead of driving, why don't you trash this place for me?" Chrys replied as he gestured towards the campsite.

"Why? It's not like this place has done anything to you?" Rose asked again, seemingly confused because of his odd request.

"It's better to leave no tracks behind. You do remember what happened last time when we got tracked?"

"Yeah…" Rose replied in a somewhat sad tone.

"After you're done, go back to your place yesterday. We are leaving."

"Aye aye, captain!" Rose saluted before running towards the campfire.

"Dropkick!" Rose yelled out as she dropkicked the pot out of it's place.

Amber finally came back from washing her face. Her eyes had a curious look of what was happening in front of her.

"Oh, you're back! Come on, Amber. Help me trash the place. Hiyah!" Rose said as she threw the remainder of the pot towards Amber.

Amber caught it with her hands. She looked at it for a couple of moments, before throwing it down with all her might.

She then ran forward to grab more stuff throw. She kind off look happy while doing it. They both seem happy about throwing and breaking things. I feel kinda left out.

Then, Miss Lilly placed the sleeping bags onto the back of the truck I was in.

"Hey Miya, could you help me place these sleeping bags back to their place?" Miss Lilly said.

"Yeah, no problem." I replied as I dusted of the remaining crumbs on my hands.

"Thanks. Hey, V! Wake up! It's already morning, get in front and drive! We are leaving!" Miss Lilly shouted.

I felt kinda spooked since Miss Lilly's mood rapidly changed in a matter of moments.

"Argh, alright... Move out of the way, you little shit nugget!" Mister V said as he got up and moved towards Miss Lilly.

"Hmph!!" Miss Lilly crossed her arms as she let Mister V pass her way. Her face full of disappointment.

After Mister V passed, Miss Lilly got on. She then sat beside me as she helped me pack the sleeping bags.

After a while, both Rose and Amber arrived. Their faces dripping sweat, it's like they just went on a morning run.

Rose had a massive smile locked on her face. Even Amber, who hasn't said a word since she learned about her father, looks happier than before, still no smile though.

I on the other hand, feel sad, since I got left out. It looked really fun in my opinion.

"Upsy-Daisy!" Rose jumped up onto the truck in a single leap. She then offered a hand towards Amber. She pulled her up and they both sat across from me.

Suddenly, our seats rumbled, after which we began moving.
