Chapter 76 Messenger

V walked through the bustling streets by himself. He occasionally felt multiple eyes landing on him, but after a while, they left him alone.

Even though they eventually gave up on him, V still took an obscure route. Hoping over fences, taking turns in dark alleyways, and intentionally going to the most crowded space.

After a while, V made sure that there were no longer eyes on him. And once he ensured that no one was following him, he took a short walk before entering a building somewhere in the residential district.

The house he entered looks like it was abandoned long ago, having spider webs and dust everywhere.

Aside from the plain furniture, two women are sitting on a table, both looking directly at him.

One is a mature looking lady with neatly kept blonde hair and purple eyes. The other is a white-haired young lady with short, pure white hair and light blue pupils in the shape of a four-petalled flower.

The white-haired lady named Lilly then asked V. "So, did you find out any information from that Immortal?"

V grabbed a seat and placed it bit away from the table. And after sitting on it, he replied. "Yeah, but not the kind of information we wanted."

"What do you mean?"

V took a few seconds before he replied. "The Immortals are connected with 'them'."

Lilly's face looked a bit shocked before calming down as she said with a low voice while looking down on the table. "Well, it was only a matter of time."

Lilly looked at V and asked. "Do we need to leave? And who told you this?"

"The best action is to leave immediately, and the person who told me this is that Immortal named Alex. He doesn't seem to be fond of 'them' interacting with his family."

"I mean, I wouldn't let 'them' anywhere near my family if I were in his position." Lilly said with a nonchalant expression.

"So, we leave now or wait for sundown? Personally, I want to leave now." Lilly continued

"Hmm..." V seemed to ponder for a minute with Lilly patiently waiting for his reply. Meanwhile, Hela is playing with Loki on her lap, completely uninterested in the conversation.

V then said. "Actually, that wasn't all of the things he said to me."

"Hmm? What else did he say?"

V looked extremely displeased before saying. "A messenger from 'them' is inside this town."

"A messenger, huh..." Lilly then fell into a pondering state, gathering Hela's attention.

"What do we do? Can we trust his word? I don't like the way he spoke to us. It was very reminiscent of how Goldie speaks when he's lying his ass off." Lilly asked.

V then replied. "I'm tempted to try and capture the messenger and interrogate him. As for the legitimacy of his word, I'm pretty sure he was being honest when he told me that."

"'Pretty sure' isn't good enough, Bush head. You know what kind off tricks 'they' play on people. We, of all people should know that."

V looked up at the ceiling of the room while saying. "Well, 'pretty sure' is the best that we could afford."

"...That is true."

"...We can quit whenever we want." V said in a longing voice.

"Yeah..." Lilly nodded while looking like her mind is in a different place.

"I want this to end."

"Yeah, me too."

V removed his eyes from the ceiling, and looked at Lilly with determination roaring in his eyes. "I'm willing to take a risk, with or without you."

Lilly, who is still is looking to the side, responded. "Yeah, I'm also kinda feeling the same."

"So, do we take the bait?" V asked.

Lilly turned to Hela before asking. "What do you say, Hela?"

Hela looked at Lilly and V for a moment before returning her attention to Loki while replying. "I'm fine. As long as I'm with everyone."

V and Lilly looked like they got caught off guard from Hela's brutal honesty. Lilly then looked at V before saying. "Looks like all of us agrees."

V gave her a nod as his reply.

A few minutes later, V and Hela are approaching the second tallest tower in the city. They approached it casually and cautiously, making sure to not get unwanted attention.

They made their way into the back door of the main building. V scanned the immediate surrounding while Hela gave the lock a good smack, destroying the lock completely with some parts of the door as well.

V and Hela stealthily made their way through what looks to be a storage room. Then suddenly, a voice that sounded very close said. "Is it this box, boss?"

Within the span of a second, Hela and V immediately hid themselves behind the cabinets of random junk.

"Yep, that's the one! Bring it to the counter, rookie!" Another voice yelled.

After making sure that the other people left, Hela and V left their hiding spots and continued on moving.

They made their way out of the storage room and into a set of hallways. They cautiously made their way down a hallway together.

Then suddenly, a young muscular boy with a straw hat noticed them, completely catching them out in the open.

Instead of asking who they were, the young man leaned on a box and turned his back on Hela and V.

V moved and crouched onto the other side of the box. He gave the box a little knock, allerting the young man, who then said in a familiar sounding feminine voice. "A guest is currently in a building adjacent to this one. The one room without windows and any signage."

"Got it..."

After receiving directions, V and Hela made their way past the boy and ran down a corridor.

After seeing them leave, the young man raised his straw hat just a little, revealing a set of light blue eyes with the pupils in the shape of a four-leaf flower.

A voice then boomed through the hallways, shouting. "Mr. Guest, where are you?!"

The young man lowered their straw hat while replying in a voice that you would expect from his appearance. "I'm over here. Got lost for a sec."

As the young man followed the voice, Hela and V followed his directions, stopping in front of a room without any label or window to look through.

V gave Hela a little nod as they prepared their weapons. Loki fused itself with Hela's axe as V kicked the door open.

Inside the room, an ordinary looking man is leaning over a table. And after hearing a rather loud crash come from behind him, he naturally turned to it with shocked expression.

After seeing V and Hela enter the room, the man's expression immediately went from shock to frustration and anger.

The man immediately grabbed his weapon, which is a mace on the side of the table, and charged at V and Hela.

V also charged at him while Hela stayed behind.

She placed the blunt edge of her axe to the wall after closing the door. The axe released an icy fog, forming ice on the walls, the door, and the ceiling.

Seeing what she was doing, the man yelled as he readied to swing his mace towards V. "Damn you!"

V deflected his swing to the side with the help of his claws. He then immediately countered with a kick to the abdomen, causing the man to take a few steps back.

When the man regained his footing, Hela charged at him with insane speed, grabbing him by the shoulder and smashing him into the wall of ice.

"Aaargh!!" The man released a pained groan, as the force of Hela's push surely cracked some of his bones.

With the man still realing from the pain, Hela placed the blunt side of her axe onto the man's chest before it proceeded to do what it did earlier.

It released an icy fog, which then formed itself into a cocoon around the man, completely covering his body, apart from his head, with ice.

As Hela took a few steps back, the man, who seemed to have realized he lost, began shouting. "You damn idiots! Let me go! Who told you where I am?! We'll have their tongue cut off and fried before we feed it back to them!"

A droll then formed on Hela's face, clearly intrugied at what the man is saying. V gave her a light punch to the arm as he said. "Don't."

V then grabbed the chair and placed it just in front of the man before sitting on it.

Seeing V sitting in front of him, the man focused his attention towards him while he continued to yell. "You damn useless piece of shit! You think you can defeat us?! You're nothing, and you'll achieve nothing!"

V immediately stood up, knocking the chair he was sat down to slam onto the ground. And with a swift motion, V punched the man directly in the face.

As he looked at the bruise on the man's face, V then said. "This is definitely one of them. They got the same awful mouth and obsession."

The man spat out a cough full of blood before looking at V dead in the eyes while saying. "You think you're better than us? You can't even touch us if we wanted to. You won't get anything out of me."

V cracked his fist while saying. "We'll see about that. You're not the first one we had to crack."

But before V could launch his first punch, a knock came from the door. A total of four consecutive knocks in a rhytmic pattern.

V gave Hela little nod before he covered the man's mouth with his hand. Hela then proceeded to open the frozen door without much trouble.

On the other side of the door, the young man in the straw hat is standing. His straw cap and the rest of his body and clothes transformed into a paper-like substance as he walked through the doorway.

Hela closed the door behind him, making sure to freeze it shut once more.

The paper on the young man's body soon began folding itself, eventually forming a black coat around a petite, white-haired woman.

"Did you get anything out of him yet?" Lilly asked.

V removed his hand from the man's mouth as he replied. "No, not yet."

But unbeknownst to V and the others, the moment his hand left the man's face, a smile was formed as the man looked at the white-haired Lilly.

The man then took a deep breath before yelling. "Quite a party we got here, eh?!"

The other three looked at him with a bit of confusion.

As the man smiled, Lilly looked at V, who gave her a little gesture pointing at the man frozen in the wall.

Lilly formed a friendly smile as she took a seat on the table. She then said. "Yes, you're right we got quite a party going on right now."

Hela then moved in front of the door, blocking any entrance or exit while V leaned against a cabinet.

With a smile still on his face, the man continued to yell. "I can't agree more."

He looked at V to the side as he said. "We got Chaos Herald over here."

He then turned towards Hela as he continued. "We got Wildfire over there."

And when he looked at Lilly, he said. "And we got Oboete Lilly over here."

The man then gave Lilly, who looked extremely confused right now, a warm smile.

Lilly's face contorted a little bit as she asked. "Do I perhaps know you?"

The man then replied. "You don't know me, and you don't need to know me."

V and Lilly looked at each other, seemingly discussing on what to do with the man, who then yelled right after. "Oboete Lilly, a young girl seventeen of age, born and raised in the Sun capital under the Oboete Household."

V's and Lilly's attention was immediately captured by the man, causing him to continue. "Grew up separated from mother and sister. Only familial interaction is the now deceased grandmother and her father, who is an advisor to the current Queen."

Lilly then proceeded to look at him with fury in her eyes as she asked. "Why do you know so much about me?"

The man let out a little chuckle before responding. "Oh, I know more than that. WE know more than that!"

"But that doesn't matter right now..."

"What does matter, is your answer to this question..."

V intruded into the conversation while saying. "We're the ones doing the interrogation, you bastard!"

The man ignored V's statement as he proceeded to ask Lilly. "It would be a shame if something were to happen to your home, won't it, Oboete Lilly?"

"Eh?" Lilly could only look blankly at the man, seemingly unable to process what he meant.

Seeing that he struck something in Lilly, the man then continued. "A little bird from the woods told me, 'A storm is brewing in the east'."

After saying that, the man gulped down something in his mouth which V took notice, who then yelled immediately "Dammit! What did you just eat?!"

As V tried to reach to him, the man's stomach started to glow an orange color.

The man then continued. "It truly would be a shame if someone were to lose their homeland and family because they didn't do anything, isn't that right, Oboete Lilly?"

Lilly gritted her teeth as tears formed at the corners of her eyes. She then screamed at the man as the orange glow on his stomach grew brighter. "Damn you! Stay away from them!!!!"

Hearing Lilly scream in anger, Hela tried to rush towards the man like what V is currently doing.

But before anybody could do anything, the man, who had this arrogant smile on his face, imploded into pieces.

The explosion came from his stomach. Luckily, his body was covered in ice which saved Lilly and the others from the blood spurt and the explosion.

A solemn atmoshere formed in the room as the man's blood crawled through the floor.

Everyone's face has a sense of defeat in them, especially Lilly, who looked like she just had a mountain dumped on top off her.

Meanwhile, back to the present time, V scratched the back of his head while Chrys and Morgan are patiently waiting for his reply.

V cleared his throat as he said. "Basically, we went into town, got in contact with an Immortal, who then told us that the Immortals are in cahoots with 'them'. And they also gave us a hint, that a messenger was in town."

"We decided to capture and interrogate the messenger, who then said something about 'a storm is brewing in the east'."

"Oh, and he also specifically targeted her during that time. He attacked her rather... personally."

Morgan looked at V with her emotionless eyes, but the meter on her bow raised into the orange. She then asked in monotone. "What do you mean 'personally'?"

Chrys gave her a little glance while V replied. "He was splurting this family shit on her face. I kinda phased out during that time."

"I wouldn't have expected nothing else from you, Bush head."

"Shut it, Goldie!"

"Is that it?" Morgan asked calmly.

V nodded as he said. "Yeah, pretty much. Nothing else of importance really happened after. Can I go now?"

"Yeah, you can go and praise your shrine, Bush head."

As V walked away, he shouted. "Don't make me shut your mouth for good, Goldie!!!"

Chrys and Morgan then remained standing in the same spot as V left. And after V disappeared from sight, Morgan turned to Chrys and asked. "Do we help her?"

"Of course. Why wouldn't we help her?"

"You know... this is definitely a trap. They were targeting Lilly, the only one of us that has connections to the east."

"Yes, I am aware..."

"But that doesn't mean I won't help you guys just because it's a certifide trap. I would gladly jump into a lion's mouth for you guys, you know?" Chrys continued.

Morgan looked blankly Chrys after hearing his reply. She then said. "Thank you. I'll go tell Lilly immediately."

"Yes, if you may."

As Morgan ran full speed, Chrys remained standing in the same spot. He looked to the ceiling of the massive hallways.

His eyebrows contorted, forming an angry look on his face. His golden eyes still had that glow like before. He tuck his hands into his pocket as he returned his face back to face what is in front of him.

He then walked down the empty hallways all alone, without saying another word.
