The little Lilly woke up in her room, opening her eyes wide open almost like awakening from a bad dream.
Like somehow lost in her own room, she frantically looked around, trying to find something. And within only a second, she found what she was looking for. It was Nekonna.
Nekonna is currently tidying up the room quietly, as to not wake Lilly up early. Noticing her awakening, she looked at her and gave her a bright smile.
"Good morning, Little Miss." She greeted.
Lilly looked at her confusedly, touching her face, seeming unsure of what is happening. Seeing her confusion, Nekonna said as she went back to cleaning. "It's now the next day, Little Miss."
"If I recall correctly, we spent the rest of yesterday in your room before you cried yourself to sleep."
"Are you fine now, Little Miss?"
Before Nekonna could fully turn around to face the bed, Lilly hugged her tightly on the back. Her arms interlocked on Nekonna's stomach with the intention of not letting go.
Lilly then said with a weak, pleading, and somewhat crying voice. "Please don't leave me, Nekonna."
Nekonna felt her heart warm up as she turned around and hugged the little Lilly in her arms. She then whispered into her ears in a calm and gentle way. "I promise to not leave your side."
"Tudet?"
"Tudet."
After a while, Lilly and Nekonna left her room. And while walking through the halls and greeting the other servants, Lilly refused to let go of Nekonna's hand.
Nekonna couldn't help but feel somewhat concerned by Lilly's behavior. She then began thinking of a way to help Lilly.
After a few more moments of walking, they arrived at what looks to be a restroom. Nekonna then said to Lilly. "Go on ahead, Little Miss."
"B-but...."
"Don't worry, Little Miss. I'll just be on the other side of the door while you do your business."
"B-but...."
"You'll be fine, Little Miss."
"Okay, I guess...." Lilly then reluctantly let go of Nekonna's hand as she went inside the restroom.
Like promised, Nekonna waited on the otherside of the door as Lilly did her business. But then, a servant walked up to her.
"What is it? Do you need something from me?" Nekonna asked as the other servant refused to meet her gaze.
The servant then said. "It's an order from the Master."
"Well, go ahead and tell me then."
The servant then whispered something to Nekonna, greatly distressing her. She then asked for confirmation, to which the servant nodded.
The servant then said. "I'm really sorry that it has to be this way, Nekonna."
"It'll be fine."
"But, how about the Little Miss? You are quite-"
"It'll be fine." Said Nekonna, seemingly exhausted.
"Then, I'll leave it up to you." The servant gave her a final nod before walking away.
Nekonna then leaned against a wall while looking at the ceiling, seemingly pondering about something that's causing her to form a pained expression.
She then noticed the door to the restroom opening, she wiped the worry off of her face and replaced it with a smile.
She then asked with a bright smile. "Are you done, Little Miss?"
"Yes."
"Well, how does breakfast sound?"
"I would like you to have it with me, Nekonna."
"If that's what you want." Nekonna then extended her hand, to which Lilly grabbed immediately.
They then went on to live the rest of the day like usual. But unbeknownst to Lilly, everytime she looks away from Nekonna, she would form a frown as she stared at Lilly with a worried look.
Then, night came. Lilly and Nekonna, like the rest of the day, spent the night together in the room.
And when Lilly fell asleep, Nekonna tucked her to bed. But instead of sleeping herself, Nekonna, armed with a little lamp illuminated by a scale, began writing in the middle of the night.
She wrote on a piece of paper, writing with a brush and ink. After finishing what she wanted to write, Nekonna stared into the wet ink, still fresh on her brush.
She then looked back at Lilly, who is still clinging to her via her clothes, she couldn't help but form a guilty expression as she stared at Lilly sleeping peacefully.
She then turned back and stared at her arm. And while she bit down on her lip, a desperate attempt to control her emotions, she wrote on her arm the word. "Liar."
She then turned off the lamp, hid the letters into her clothes, and hiding the writing on her arm with her sleeves. She then prepared to go to bed.
She laid down right beside Lilly, who upon feeling her lay down, immediately clung to her as she continued to sleep peacefully.
Nekonna kissed her on the head as she whispered. "I'm sorry, Little Miss." Before going to sleep herself.
In the morning, Lilly and Nekonna woke up like yesterday and went on to do their morning routine without ever seperating from each other.
But, when the morning turned to afternoon. Nekonna led Lilly infront of the mansion.
Lilly couldn't help but ask. "Why are we here, Nekonna? Do you need something from here?"
"Well, you see. I have been ordered to do a task."
"A... task...." Lilly after repeating Nekonna's words, she clung onto her more tightly.
Nekonna kneeled down in front of Lilly before saying to her. "There's no need to be afraid, Little Miss. I'll just be gone for a day at most."
"But... you promised."
"I'm sorry, Little Miss. Maybe you could let me pass, just this once?"
"...I guess, if you really have to."
"Hehe...." Nekonna giggled before hugging Lilly tightly, which caught Lilly off guard, but in the end, decided to return it.
After a few more seconds, they finally let go of each other.
As Nekonna was about to leave the front door, Lilly noticed a marking on her arm. She took a good look at it, but she ended up having a confused look on her face after a bit.
As Nekonna made her way to a carrage that seemed to await her, Lilly waved to her as she yelled. "Take care!"
Nekonne turned back and gave her a smile before saying. "You too! Little Miss...."
Nekonna then boarded the carrage without looking back. As the carrage was leaving the confines of the mansion, Nekonna pulled out the letters she wrote last night.
She gripped the letters tightly as she whispered while her eyes began to form tears. "I'm sorry, Little Miss. I'm sorry, Lilly." Her sleeves then rolled down, revealing the marking on her arm once more.
After she left, Lilly went on to do her normal activities. Learning how to write, improving her grammar, and learning manners. She did all of this without complain as she eagerly waited for tommorow.
In the next morning, the first thing Lilly did was reach out to the side of her bed, only grabbing air. She mumbled to herself for a bit before standing up and cleaning herself.
And while eating breakfast all by herself, Lilly asked a servant passing by. "Umm, hello?"
"Oh. What is it, Little Miss? How can I help you?"
"Sorry. But, I just want to ask, when Nekonna is coming back?"
The servant looked taken aback and worried. The servant then replied with a smile. "She should be back tommorow, yes?"
"I thought she said that yesterday?"
"Um, well, I think she meant the day after tommorow."
"Is that so...." Lilly said as she stared at her food. The servant formed a guilty expression as they walked away.
Then, after that, Lilly went back to do her normal activities. But when she found herself with some free time, Lilly asked herself. "What was that thing written on Nekonna's arm again? I think it was written like this?" Lilly then began writing the marking she saw on Nekonna's arm, unsure of what it meant.
"I think it means...."
Then like that, days went after days, and eventually, a week passed since Nekonna left.
A group of servant gathered just outside of Lilly's room, all wearing concerned faces. They then asked each other.
"Is the Little Miss okay?"
"Has she eaten properly?"
"Did she go to her lessons today?"
"Someone should go talk to her?"
"Why don't you do it?"
"Well...."
As the servants continued to discuss with each other, Lilly, who is inside her room, is currently curled up into a ball while sobbing in a corner.
Her clothes are unkept, her white hair all messy, and her light blue eyes turned red from crying. In her hand, a paper filled with writing. It read. "Nekonna. Liar. Liar. Liar. Nekonna is a Liar. Liar. Liar. Liar. Liar. Liar. Nekonna lied. Liar. Liar. Liar. Liar." This type of pattern repeated itself throughout the entire paper.
After about an hour, the servant's outside Lilly's room dispearsed as Lilly kept on crying to herself.
Meanwhile, in front of the mansion, near the afternoon, a messenger, looking all worried and beaten up, ran up to the mansion catching the eyes of the servants.
The messenger then said to the servants with a tired and horrified expression. "The Madam is coming here!"
The younger servants looked at the messenger with confused expressions, confused on who this 'Madam' is. But the older servants, on the other hand, are all wearing terrified expressions. They then asked with shaking voices. "W-when is she arriving?"
Then, the messenger said something that terrified the older servants. "She is arriving right now."
Just then, the gates of the mansion swung open with so much force, almost breaking them. The servants, even the younger ones, felt a force bearing down on them, making them feel like they were insignificant.
Meanwhile, back in Lilly's room, Lilly, with tears still in her eyes, stared at the paper she held. She then said. "Nekonna. Liar." Before curling up into a ball once more.
Then suddenly, Lilly felt like the entire world shook, causing her to drop the paper. She didn't think much about it, but when she went to pick up the paper. She noticed the door to her room slightly opened.
She left the paper on the floor as she stood up and walked towards the door. And when she was about to close it, she heard distant screams.
She couldn't help but feel curious, but what really pushed her was the fact that her stomach was growling.
And for the first time in a while, Lilly left her room.
The usually empty halls felt more empty today. Lilly opened and closed her hand as she walked throught the halls, almost like she was trying onto grab something that isn't there.
She followed the screams of the servants which eventually led her to the courtyard, where almost all of the servants in the house are in at the moment.
Lilly couldn't help but feel confused on what the servants are doing gathered here, so she decided to observe more.
She noticed that the servants were trying to restrain, but it's more like trying to calm down an extremely old looking woman.
Her face and skin are all shriveled up, her long hair gone full white, and the set of horns on her head grey and old. But her face is as lively as a volcano that is in the middle of erupting.
The old woman, while grabbing a servant in the throat, yelled. "Where is my granddaughter?! Yuri!"
"..."
"..."
Everyone seemed a little bit confused at what the old lady just yelled. The servant in the old lady's grasp tapped her arm, causing her to give him the glare of death.
The servant managed to pull the last of his remaining strength and courage to say. "M-madam. Your granddaughter's name is Lilly. N-not Yuri."
Sense somehow came over the enraged old woman after hearing the servant's words. She then dropped the servant onto the ground, who then immediately scurried away.
She then leaned back and spread her arms outward before screaming at the sky. "LILLY!!!!!"
Her voice sent shivers down everyone's soul, especially the one that just got her name yelled out and the one that seems to be her target. That person being Lilly, who fell backwards, onto the hard wood floor, producing a rather loud thud.
Because everyone was silent after the old lady yelled, the thud that Lilly caused gathered everyone's attention, even the old lady's who then screamed at the top of her lungs. "THERE YOU ARE, LILLY!!!"
Lilly felt her heart jump out her chest as she met the old lady's mad gaze. Her fight or flight instict kicked it, and it said to get out of there immediately.
She then ran away from the scene stumbling, running like her life depended on it. The old lady then ran after her with uncharacteristic speed while yelling. "WHERE ARE YOU GOING, LILLY?!!!"
"Aaaa!!" Lilly then began screaming as she ran away from the old lady, who is approaching her with the speed and aura of death.
The servants, who were left speechless by the old lady's actions, then yelled in unison. "ESCAPE, LITTLE MISS!!!"
But, even though Lilly wanted to do what they just yelled. Because she isn't used to running, she quickly lost her breath.
As she panted heavily, she turned around with a terrified expression. When she saw that the old lady was nowhere in sight, she breathed a sigh of relief.
But it was short lived. Lilly felt her heart die when the wall next to her shattered to pieces. And in the middle of the destruction, the old lady emerged, seemingly the cause of the destruction. She then yelled. "WHY ARE YOU RUNNING?!!!"
"AAAA!!!!" Lilly's only response to the old lady's question was to run away immediately. And just like before, when she thought she lost the old lady. The old lady, seemingly headbutting the walls with her horns, suddenly appears out of nowhere.
Lilly eventually made out outside, but she was at her limit. Her legs crumbled to the ground as her heart raced like lightning. She laid helplessly at the base of a tree as the old lady menacingly loomed over her.
The poor little Lilly couldn't take it any longer and passed out right there on the spot, seemingly dying in front of the old lady.
