Becoming a Parent

"There is a memory from my childhood about my mother that I will never forget."

Harriet spoke when they were back in their carriage. When the others heard, they all turned to Harriet.

“My mother vents her anger with violence and abuse, be it physical or mental, and she enjoys it. But after that, something in her eyes changed. It was as if… she was regretting her emotional outburst,” explained Harriet.

Heath averted his gaze, as Harriet continued.

“My mother has a severe mental illness, and people with mental disabilities shouldn't be allowed to raise children," Harriet said flatly. "Of course, all that mental illness can't justify the things she's done."

For Liam, hearing all that Harriet had been through sometimes made him feel amazed. Harriet continued to grow as a wonderful woman even after all that.
