It Was Painful

"There's a letter from the capital, Madam," Daniel walked half a step behind Harriet.

As he said that, Harriet stopped and turned to him. "This is quite a deja vu, Secretary Daniel."

Daniel smiled. He handed the letter, and Harriet ripped it open immediately. Now, seeing her ripping those important letters did not hurt his soul anymore. He had achieved immunity.

"Hmm, another invitation for Ezra's birthday party," Harriet mumbled. She fell into silence as she turned to the corridor window. "It's been five years... huh?"

Daniel raised his head, looking into Harriet's poignant side profile. The woman nodded and handed the letter back to him. "I will be attending next week. Prepare for Damian and Niamh too. They will come with me."

Hearing Harriet's words, Daniel raised his eyebrows high. He widened his eyes, seeing the woman walk toward the stairs to reach her children's room without looking back.
