At the top of Xian Ning Shan, among the white clouds, the Qing Hun manor seemed to be enveloped and shielded by the emerald sea of bamboo forest and thick heavy mist throughout the seasons. The surrounding is quiet and silent, offering calm and tranquility to the residents of these peaks.
After a night of travelling out of the city and up Xian Ning Shan, the newly saved kitten managed to stay alive, still fighting hard for its little dimming life. Upon reaching back to Qing Hun Manor, Hui Ci immediately examined the kitten to check for wounds and injuries. Both Hui Ci and Bai Ling were distraught with the condition of the puny little kitten.
Both eyes on the little thing are red and swollen, glued tight with green thick sticky mucus. The fur on the kitten was matted with dried blood and soil, burnt patches and scorched marks spread across the bald areas of its skin. One of the legs are badly mangled, cruelly snapped to the front at the joint but still managed to stay attached to that little body. The little furball looked barely alive. It's breathing was thin and shallow, if Bai Ling and Hui Ci have not found it, the poor little soul would have not have survived for much longer in that lonely winter.
"How could anyone do such cruel things on a helpless soul?!! Even death is more forgiving than these tortures that they put her through!" Bai Ling's eyes grew dark in anger. A great shadow of rage came across his usual cheerful and lively face. His whole body has started to tremble. His fists clenched so tight that his nails dug deep into his palms. Bai Ling's whole demeanor has brewed into a dangerous pit, seemingly to devour anything or anyone that will come in his way. Like a roiling storm, the anger that was brewing could easily leash out for blood.
"Bai Ling, please calm down." Hui Ci's voice was stern but also calm and comforting. Never once has he raised his voice to Bai Ling. Every word he spoke to him has always been kind and respectful. Hui Ci voice as soothing as the morning dew slowly eased into Bai Ling's furore, bringing a faint slither of light back into those gloomed eyes.
Hui Ci took Bai Ling's hands and gave them a light pinch before locking eyes with him. As if their eyes can speak, Hui Ci's gaze whispered some clarity back into those dark veiled glare. As soon as their hands touched and their eyes met, Bai Ling seemed to have woken up from that fury trance. His eyes glistened and a slight serenity returned to his beautiful features.
"I know how much this reminds you of your past. I can only imagine the kind of pain and torture that she went through, just as you did." Hui Ci paused for moment.
"I just..." Bai Ling's voice trailed off before he can finish. "I'm sorry...we need to save her. We need to save this little soul. She has yet to know life and she deserves so much more kindness from the world." Bai Ling's face solemn while looking over to the small ball of fur that he tucked into a silk blanketed basket.
"It is alright. We will save her and she will live. We will care for her together." Hui Ci laid his hand softly on Bai Ling's face. His hand felt cool and soothing on the flustered cheek. Hui Ci slowly drew his fingers across Bai Ling's pale soft skin, tracing along the curve of his jawline. The trail of the lingering fingers sent a fasten rhythm of heartbeats in his chest. Hui Ci held up Bai Ling's chin, tilting his head up slightly and sealed their lips with a kiss.
Tipping on his toes, Bai Ling looked up at Hui Ci with a trusting gaze. His face was flushed and bashful. The two corners of his soft lips pulled into a tender smile. Bai Ling rested his forehead against Hui Ci's as if to physically bind their words to each other.
"Yes, together we will."
