Chapter 49. Moving out

PROSE MODE.

Barbara took Melody to a nearby Cafe after they'd dropped Carson off on his first day of school.

The waitress bowed after serving Melody a chocolate-filled croissant, bamboo shoots seasoned with mentsuyu, butter and soy sauce, sliced cherry tomatoes, a soft-boiled egg and washing it down with some passion fruit milk tea, packed with tapioca pearls glimmering at the bottom of the clear plastic cup.

Barbara was a regular here, always stopping by for breakfast once or twice a week. She'd been served about twenty minutes earlier with the usual, caramel latte, Japanese rolled eggs, marinated red onion, honey cheese toast and spinach pottage.

For the fruit toppings, they both had diced kiwi, strawberries and half an orange.
