Green: Gazing Through

I was so lost in thought that I didn't notice Sera enter the room with a tray of tea on her hands. The sound of the door sliding open escaped my ears as she looked worriedly at me while she sets the cup on the nearby head stand. Chewing her lower lip she clutched the silver tray with her left hand as she combs the stray strand of her auburn locks to her ear.

Shifting from my crouched position, I heard her gasp. Turning my weary head towards her direction I could clearly see the pained expression of my face on her eyes.

Blake.

That left something bitter on my lips as I continued to drown my pain in the melody of Tightrope ringing through my headphones. Sera shifted in her position as she quickly averted her eyes when I looked at her.

Blake.

I groan through clenched teeth as I felt the weight through my body seeping in. I can't seem to take him off my mind. Why do I have to be one of those people who takes things like this to heart... I shouldn't but...

A shadow drops on my eyes as Zephyr entered the room with a worried expression on his face. I shouldn't be like this. I must show my pack, my family, that I'm fine.

My mate just rejected me.

Again.

I quickly clutched my chest as a constricting pain shot through my heart.

He nodded at Sera before she left my room. Zephyr slowly closed the door behind him as he walks to the nearby chair by the door, looking at me with pity or concern.

I sunk my face over my pillows as I feel my warm breath hitch back at my face within the darkness. Welcoming the heat touch my skin as it is the only one that's keeping me warm.

Yesterday, I heard Blake's voice. Though it was hard to hear him speak again I felt happy.

He's still someone I cared for and I can't blame him. It wasn't his choice that he was mated to me. Though I sometimes hoped that he would turn in a new leaf.

I turned my gaze towards the door and Zephyr immediately looked at my direction.

"Want anything Aries?" He asked putting down a comics that he was reading. "Well, anything except - you know..."

I gave him a weak smile in reply.

"Say yes Aries." Zephyr eyed me seriously.

"Yes Zephyr." I tried to sing my answer but it came out like a mewl.

Zephyr seems contented as he stood up and started walking towards me. Pausing when he's at the foot of my bed.

"So what do you need, oh gracious Alpha?" Zephyr smirked at me as he leaned over to touch my forehead.

"I'm not sick, Zeph." I groaned but he just chuckled.

"In a sense. You are but we can't be sure." He said. I just rolled my eyes at him as his palm scorched the skin of my forehead.

Its warmth so foreign to my skin as I winced unexpectedly at hi touch. Zephyr immediately draws back his hand as he looked at me worriedly.

"Aries, what's wro-?"

"Nothing." I said plainly as I averted his eyes.

Zephyr crosses his arms and sighed.

"I know its hard. But he's no longer your mate." I heard him speak. "Blake..." He paused at his name in such a cold and spiteful tone that I could feel him resent the person he was referring to. "... Doesn't care about you."

"You don't kno-" I injected but Zephyr slammed his fist on the wall causing me to look at him.

His eyes filled with concern and hate.

"Yeah. I don't know but..." He brought his right hand over his face to cover it. "... If he does then he wouldn't hurt you. Again."

The last word echoed through my mind. I bit my lower lip and thought that Blake might still be in conflict with himself or something was wrong that he might have done something...

"Don't defend him Alpha." Zephyr said coldly.

"Alpha?" I asked.

"Yes, you Alpha." Zephyr glared at me. "You're an Alpha and look what he had made you... A nobody."

"Zephyr, that's pushing the line..." I said sternly though my voice still cracked and dry.

"Am I?!" He said mockingly as he placed his hands over his hips with his eyes darting daggers at me. "He's killing you and you're letting him! He made you forget who you are. You're an Alpha, my Alpha! And with you moping around and dying. A pack is worrying about their Alpha."

I looked down over my sheets in shame.

Zephyr was right.

"You're family is worried sick. And you all you do is defend that no good -"

Zephyr paused as I growled at him as he was about to say something about Blake.

"See?!" He points out. "We don't want to lose you Aries. Even your mother knows even how hard we try to hide it from her. Luna is worried..."

I remained quiet as I looked down again. My eyes shaking and thoughts processing over my head. I just can't go crazy and let my pack suffer, my family suffer. But it also means I have to give up.

Give up on Blake.

Give up on me.

On us.

"I know you already have feelings for him." Zephyr spoke looking at the picture of Blake and me sleeping on the couch. It was taken by someone in the pack while we we're dozing off and was placed inside of my room for some reason. Well, I'm not complaining but Blake probably would. So I kept it my little secret.

He's changed a lot. Or so I thought. But deep inside my mind, I've seen him differently than before. Oddly, that even the smallest changes brought a smile into my lips as I relish the memories.

I looked up and Zephyr met my eyes and I smiled meekly.

He sighed as if he knew it was pointless to argue. I'm a goner and cupid did a great job at me.

"Come on." Zephyr groaned as he opens the door. I raised my eyebrow in question as he sighed. "You need to breath some fresh air. That'll probably make you feel better."

I paused to think but Zephyr quickly flung my sheets over. Exposing my bare skin to the cold air. I instinctively clasped my arms around my shoulders as I glare at my Beta who's cheeks were now tinted pink.

"The hell, Zeph!" I cussed as he immediately averted his eyes away from me.

"Just hurry up and get dressed." Zephyr trailed off as he grabbed the knob of the door. "I'll wait for you outside. And you'd better hurry or i'll drag you down to your mother myself."

I puffed my cheeks at him.

"You wouldn't!" I yelled as I heard him chuckle, sliding the door halfway close.

"I can do so." He jested as I heard the door clicked shut before I could retort a reply.

I slumped my body on my bed as the soft fabric embraced my skin and I hummed a sigh of contentment as I looked over the ceiling and my thoughts immediately brought me back towards Blake's face.

I instinctively slapped both the palms over my face as a groan escaped my lungs.

"Shit. This isn't good." I croaked.

I dragged my hands over my face and lazily stood up as my feet walked me through my cabinet. My hands lifted the lock open and soon regretted in doing so without thinking as Blake's scent immediately hits my nose.

My eyes traced the clothes he wore when he was here and even though it was washed it still retained a mild scent of Blake's. And without knowing the clothe was withing my arms and my nose pressed against its soft fabric. Smelling the faint scent of a guy who I've fallen in love with.

I whimpered moan escaped my lips as the cloth slip pass my head and hugged my body nicely feeling it enveloping me in Blake's warmth. My eyes caught a pair of black jeans and slid them on after I wore a pair of green boxers.

Everything seemed foreign after not wearing clothes for awhile but I did manage to push the uncomfortable feeling at the back of my head as I wore the nearest pair of sneakers I could find. And soon I was out in the front door, Zephyr raised a shocked eyebrow at me.

"What?!" I groaned as I glared at him suspiciously while I dragged myself towards the jeep parked in front of the pack house.

"Well, I didn't expect you to be up this fast." Zephyr smiled as he crashed the can of root beer in his hand before throwing it over the bin as a clank of metal was heard as it hits the bottom. "But hey. I'm not complaining."

"Yeah you shouldn't." I joked at him as I lightly punched his shoulder at which he faked hurt. "By the way, where's everyone else?" I asked I entered the passenger seat as Zephyr started the engine.

"They're off preparing for the full moon remember..." Zephyr answered and his expression immediate turned grim. His face instantly turned towards me with a pained expression. "Aries, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to say that..."

I shook my head and looked at him.

"It's alright, Zeph. Move on remember." I tried to convince him but I still felt a pang of guilt at those words. Zephyr looked at me with concern so I decided to smile and lean over the car seat with my arms crossed behind my head. "And besides, I'm a free man... What's not to like about the single status."

"Aries." Zephyr spoke as I rolled my eyes.

"I'm fine, Zeph. Don't fret over it." I smirk at him before looking at the front window. "And besides I'm starving. Moping around in bed makes me wish I didn't stuck myself in my room whole week. Goddess, I've missed eating meat." I chuckle.

"Yeah." I heard Zephyr answer back but at the corner of my eye I saw the concern. "So hold unto your hats. Cause where gonna party!" He smirked and the vehicle started to move.

I looked over my shoulder, over the window and pursed my lips. Hoping everything will be alright. Hoping everything will be fine for me. For Blake.

I bit my lip as I held the tears from flowing out.

How do I wish his arms were wrapped around me.

It was an hour drive to town and Zephyr was quiet through out the travel and I can't thank him enough. Whether he knew I need it or not, it gave me time to collect my thoughts and calm my heart at best.

My eyes scanned the simple town Zephyr decided to bring me to. The shops where mostly daily run of the mill stores where you could buy stuff. Over the corner, just a bit to the left of an old tree was a wooden bookstore. A Bakery just a few blocks to its right was somehow filled with a couple of people drinking coffee on the tables set outside its veranda.

The streets weren't that busy and the occasional cars were seen pass by. Zephyr stuck his knit cap over his head as he looked over for me. His eyes where smiling at me that I was taken a back from his serious looks.

"Where have you brought me now?" I asked trying to look for something interesting to talk about. Zephyr just curled his lips into a smile before hooking his arm over my neck as he drags me towards the sidewalk.

"You'll see." He hums.

I rolled my eyes and let it slide as we took a quick turn at the lamp post. My eyes train again to the people we passed by and those who where just doing their business and I can't help but feel empty.

"Could you at least give me a clue." I croaked. Zephyr looked at me before looking straight back at sidewalk. I puffed my cheeks and looked pass the girl with glasses that was clutching a rectangular box on her chest. As our eyes met, her eyes immediately look down as pink started to tint her pale cheeks.

"She's cute." I heard Zephyr speak.

"Yeah." I replied.

"Come on." Zephyr smirked as he grabs my shoulder with the arm he clung around my neck. "Where we're going there's a ton of new people you'll going to meet. And I bet a few of the girls there will be your type."

"He. What do you know about my type.?" I grin as I elbowed his side.

"Well, I know you like them with long, silky hair..." Zephyr eyed me mischievously as we took another turn at the Retail Shop near the fire hydrant.

"That doesn't..." I started when Zephyr continued.

"And she should have the most beautiful pearl white skin and the pinkest lips that I..." Zephyr elaborated as smacked his arm. "Ow!"

"Not cool! Those where the ones I pictured when I was 4." I groaned and Zephyr chuckled.

"Yeah. And most of the time you wanted your ideal lady to be your mother." He points out and my cheeks went warm.

"Well, that's in the past." I crossed my arms and Zephyr raised a confused brow. "I'm older now and looks doesn't make me want a person. There's more to a person's outside appearance that will make me attracted to them."

"Well, well. Our little Alpha has grown." Zephyr sang while smirking like a fool.

"Yeah. Yeah. I know. So quit bugging me already..." I rolled my eyes as I tucked my hands inside my pant pockets. "And besides where's this place already? I'm starving..."

"Actually, we're already here." Zephyr points to a nice gazebo looking restaurant that was facing the lake just over the street. "I haven't eaten here yet but I heard they have delectable meat here. And besides I have two coupons for an all you can eat."

He smirked proudly at me as I laughed at his bluntness though it would be shame wasting the opportunity to pig out sometimes as he waves the tickets over my face.

I swiped my hand over Zephyr's hand and grabbed one of the tickets. He was surprised at first but eventually smiled at me.

"Do you smell that?" I stopped when blood caught my nose and Zephyr looked around as he started to sniff the scent.

"Human blood." He explained. "And its nearby..."

Without warning we immediately dash towards the location of the scent. Don't get me wrong, Human blood is not that crucial part of werewolf diet nor does it concern me at all if someone is bleeding to death like this one for example. No, scratch that. It really concerns me. A lot.

Our feet drag both of us to a drainage pipe just passed the street and though the place was pitch black, Zephyr and I could see clearly amidst the darkness.

"Hello. Anyone there?" Zephyr called out as his eyes dart back and forth at the lump of waste drifting over the water.

The sewer stench was making it difficult to pin point the body but I managed to precipitate a few of the other odor's away and luckily we finally saw a man lying on the edge of the pipe. We immediately looked down on him and scanned for his injury. Zephyr quickly grabbed the back of the man's head and supported him.

My eyes shot open when I could see multiple wounds covering his exposed body. And by the looks of it they weren't done by any animal.

"I can smell werewolf and vampire scents all over his wounds." I said as Zephyr expression immediately hardened. "Hold him."

Without giving an explanation, Zephyr knew what to do. As he held the human, I navigated all poison and venom from his system outside his body. The human's body quickly reacted immediately as it violently shook. Zephyr held him tight but not bone crushing as I guided each molecule out his blood.

It was a not long after some pain sticking minutes, the venom where completely drained from his body. Zephyr quickly ripped off his shirt as he wrapped the wounds of the human as to stop the bleeding.

His hands where cold but I could still hear his heartbeat. Zephyr grabbed the human and carried him bridal style outside with my not far behind as I look back at the sewer once more before fully exiting the pipe.

The human was cradled against Zephyr bare chest when we arrived at our jeep and by close examining the person's face I could see that this human was about our age.

"What do you might have caused this?" Zephyr asked as he placed the human at the back seat. Looking worriedly at the pale and beaten figure before us. "He doesn't seem to be a bad kid."

I looked at the human and sighed.

"This is not good at all." I mused.

"You read his mind?" Zephyr asked as he grabbed a towel from his duffle bag and started to wipe the slime off his chest.

I remained silent though I know Zephyr knew already.

"We should back now. He needs proper medication and leaving him in a regular hospital wouldn't be wise." I explained and Zephyr just nodded in agreement.

As I entered the vehicle, I took a quick glance at the human lying weakly at the back and I couldn't help but worry about a certain someone.

"Let's go. There's no time to lose."
