"Are you sure you're alright with this?", I whisper as my gaze were fixed towards the beach in front of me. I heard him grunt in response instead. "I mean if it makes you uncomfortable..."
Blake roughly grabbed my hand and started to drag me towards the crowded beach. I tried to read his expression but he had his eyes focused on his goal. Though, his hand was oddly cold.
We stopped suddenly, making me bump at his back. I pull back and stood straight as I raised a brow at Blake as he dropped our intertwined fingers quickly. His shoulders went stiff and his back tensed as I could practically feel the air drop cold.
I leaned my head side ways to check in the reason why. I saw two guys, a blonde who has his long hair tied into a bun and black haired one with cropped hair on the sides, about our age waving at our direction. I assume they knew Blake as they started to jog towards us.
"Hey, Blake, my man!" The blonde guy clasped Blake's arm and beamed at him. "Didn't know we're going to meet you here!"
"Yeah dude! It's been so long..." The other guy smirked as he slapped Blake's exposed chest with the back of his hand. "Leave some for us will ya'?! I got my sights on that hot number with the red bikini over the ..."
"Come on, Randal!" The blonde guy shoved him playfully. "You know Blake will get to his prey wether you lie it or not." He smirked as he beamed back at Blake.
"Yeah, I guess so." The other guy groaned before smirking back. "Well, can't blame a man for trying."
"Hey man." The blonde pats my mate's cheek as Blake gone numb for a second before his gears kicked back. And what he did next was nothing too nice.
"Who told you you can touch me, Randall?!" Blake growled as he bares his canines at the blonde guy as he slapped his hand away. "I'm fucking going to kill you if you do that again."
"Woah. Woah. Man, it's all cool." The other guy waved his hand. "We didn't come here to cause trouble."
"You just did." Blake gritted as his gaze turned to the other guy. The guy instantly went stiff. "Duncan." He emphasized the guys name making him gulp.
"Calm down, Blake. You don't need to go ape shit on us." Randall backs off a little as he raises both hands over his chest. "I know what you need." He grins.
"And what's that?!"
"Booze man. And chicks, lots and lots of chicks." Duncan chimed in making Blake tense once again. "We know that you need just two things when you're these cranky, alcohol and babes!"
"And lucky for you we got lots at the beach house. So come on and you could bring..." Randall invited as he peaked behind Blake and finally notices me for the first time. Duncan followed suit as he raised a brow at me.
They scanned me from head to foot and back and I pursed my lips and looked down as I tucked my hands inside my sweats. I may not be dressed for the beach as I was wearing a baggy sweatshirt and a black jogging pants.
"Is this guy with you, Blake?" Duncan points out as I heard Blake took a deep intake of air. He clenched his fists and started to walk pass them.
"Wh-what the fuck are you asking those damn questions for!" Blake roared as he stopped a few feet away from the two. "Are you two coming or what?! I'll hold your word, Randall!"
I was feeling that sliver of pain as my heart started to clench painfully. But I expected this. And I can't blame Blake for this. He tried his best to get out of his comfort zone by bringing me to the beach at which many could see us. He just didn't know someone he knew would be here.
But it hurt nonetheless. I just tried to ease the pain by telling my brain that it's just natural for Blake to be scared. He just needs time.
"Sorry dude." I heard Duncan called out looking at me apologetically as they started to walk towards Blake.
I looked at him and mustered my best smile and waved at them.
"It's alright." I waved back at them. As I started to walk backwards, taking a step back slowly. My eyes fixed at Blake's broad back as it slowly disappear from the crowd and for some reason I can't help but shed a tear. "Everyone make mistakes." I whisper into the wind as stood alone in the crowded beach.
Aries' POV
I sink my canines over his shoulder as I heard him yelp in pain. Tasting the blood pouring out of his flesh as his skin rips out at my bite make me want to puke but I pressed harder instead, drawing more blood.
I heard him growl as he instantly combust into flames. I jumped back at the nick of time. I glared at his direction as he stood in all fours. His black fur covered with flames. I barred my canines at him as I readied myself for attack.
He growled wildly before charging blindly towards me at which I quickly dodged his assault with ease. But he quickly caught on and snapped towards my direction making me lose my footing and making me roll over the dirt.
I quickly stood up and brush the dirt off. I glanced towards Zephyr and Frank's direction and saw Frank holding Zephyr tightly as he slowly drags them both to safety.
My thoughts drift back when I went feral instantly once I saw them knocked out a few minutes ago and attacked Lance blindly in my fury. Good thing I regained my sanity before I could rip his throat in and out. Now still bleeding badly, Lance circled me. Glaring darts of death at me. Though his eyes were oddly blank or hazy.
His pack wasn't any help as well either. They just stood there like statues watching their Alpha go crazy.
I slowly and calculated his every movement as he snaps at me. His flames slowly fading, a good sign that he wasn't focused or at least no longer has the strength to battle.
Either way, I have the upper hand. Both in experience in fighting him awhile back or in strength. But it's better be cautious, one cannot be too certain in a battle.
I tried to reason with him mentally but all I got was the image of rage and death on his mind. Like he went crazy for some reason, rogue-like craziness. With just a one tracked, feral mindset, I can't reason out with him. I must end this quickly before anyone got hurt.
Suddenly, I felt a sharp pang of pain on my neck as I was thrown down with immense force. I narrowed my eyes over the figure above me and saw Lance standing ablaze. Smoke and flame seering out of his mouth as he breaths. Eyes that were so blank I couldn't figure out his motivation.
I scowled as I blamed myself for letting my guard down for a second. But I wasn't going to lie here and be at his mercy! I tried to knocked him over but he pressed his paws at my wound, scorching it, not allowing me to heal. I winced and yelped at the agonizing pain as my neck was burning.
I looked up at him through half lided eyes as he snarled at me. I croaked painfully as blood seemed to bleed out from my wound. I can't believe that I was about to be put down by someone who's gone crazy.
Lance let out one final howl before barring his canines directly at me in an instant.

I felt myself being lifted off the ground and on to someone's shoulder. I was so surprised on knowing who it was, a familiar scent drifted on my nose.
I looked surprised at the raven haired guy carrying me on his shoulder like I way nothing with his annoyed look over his face.
I shook my head slowly as a smile drifted on my lips. We were getting alot of attention from the people at the beach as the guy strode on his path with command. I felt him grip me tighter as we pass by a group of people looking at us. He let out a growl at them as he pass them making them move back and make way for him.
"How long are you planning on carrying me?" I asked jokingly as he stopped a few feet away from the incoming water.
"I didn't mean to." He replies in a whisper. I looked at his face as his eyes were casts downwards. "You must think I am a jerk for leaving you."
Of course you're not.
"You sure are." I smirked when suddenly I felt the sand hit flat on my skin. He actually dropped me!
"What did you say?!" He growls at me as I looked up at him. His face bright red as he bares his canines at me while balling his fists. "After I came right back to pick you up!"
He's cute.
I stiffle my laugh as I sat down. Not minding the sand that got inside my clothes. I heard him growl before hoisting me up by the collar of my sweatshirt. He leans down at my face and scowls.
"What so fucking funny?!" He growls.
"Noth- Pffft..." I bite my lower lip to stop myself from cackling like a lunatic. "... Nothing. Nothing, Blake."
He looks at me sternly before dropping his hold on my shirt. He straighten up and crossed his arms over his chest. His eyes looked anywhere but me as he deepen his scowl.
"Thank you." I started as he glares at me. I tucked my hands inside my pockets feeling my hands become sweaty for some reason. "I didn't ... I mean I wasn't expecting you to, uhm." I paused and looked down before beaming at him as I smiled broadly. "So, yeah, thank you, Blake."
"Fuck." I heard Blake curse before feeling him crush me with his arms in a hug. I could only hear the water splashing against the sand and the beat of our chests on that few brief moments. "Damn, why do you always make me feel this way. It's fucking annoying."
It took me a few seconds to recover from the initial shock before wrapping my arms around him as well.
This is nice.
"Should I stop, then?" I asked burying my face on the crook of his neck. I could feel the water touching my feet about now but Blake just grasp my shirt and not budging a muscle. We stood in a few comfortable silence.
"No." He replied as he buried his face on my neck, feeling him taking in my scent. I can't help but smile against his skin.
*****
I don't know what just happened but I was expecting my throat ripped out of my body by Lance a few minutes ago. But apparently, it's still intact so it seems I'm fine.
Suddenly, I noticed a looming shadow over me and as I looked up weakly I noticed a familiar wolf standing over me. It was viciously snarly at something in front of it.
I tried to push myself up to look up and saw Lance backed against a wall of their pack house, shaking from the shock that Blake might have caused. Blake might have noticed my movement that he growled at me, I mentally rolled my eyes at his intimidating growl. Like he could command me on what he likes to do and I'll follow willingly.
I shaking stood up but was trapped by Blake's body. So I growled back at him to let me out. Nudging my nose at his leg while I'm at it.
He looked down at me and snarled, as if telling me to stay down. But that single action gave Lance the opening to bite into Blake's shoulder and toss him away like he was paper. The assault was so quick that I didn't knew Lance could have the strength to continue the fight. As my eyes followed Blake's body being thrown, Lance lunged down and bit my leg and dragged me on the the opposite direction.
I snapped at his other leg making him jump back as he lets go of my leg immediately. I looked up at him and his eyes where even more blank than ever as if he's already lost his sanity. This is bad. It's a clear sign that a wolf is going feral. But why?
I wasn't able to process that question as Blake leaped on top of his father's back and bit on his left shoulder blade making Lance trash back and forth. With him distracted, I immediately stood up, ignoring the pain from my previous injuries and jumped at him, causing Lance to topple down to the ground with a large thud. The ground literally formed a crater at the impact of our combined weight.
Blake walked at his father and lunged at his neck and biting hard. He was squeezing the life out of his own father as Lance was choking blood with his snarls. His eyes unfocussed and blank as he trashed violently at the assault. I scanned his body and the injuries from our battle was still there, unhealed.
I closed my eyes and shifted back. Wincing at the wound on the arm and looked at Blake.
"That's enough Blake! Lance had enough." I yelled but Blake kept sinking his canines deeper. "You're going to kill your own father if you continue doing that, Blake! Stop!" I yelled back louder as I found myself pushing Blake body away from his father. My arms wrapped around his neck as I buried my face in his blood covered fur while pushing him back. "Please Blake. Stop. Please." I whimper.
In a blink of an eye, I was feeling those familiar warm skin against mine as I wrapped my arms around him, not letting him go. We just knelt there for god knows how long but I continued to hug him tight as I could hear his labored breathing.
"Fuck!" I heard Blake growl as I feel him tense up. I looked at him and his eyes were filled with rage, his hands balled into fists and his teeth tightly clenched. "Fuck! I'm fucking-going-to kill you!!!" He screamed so strong with such deep rage caused me to tense up. The air of Blake's bloodlust was so large that it actually paralyzed me in place.
It took a lot of my strength to snap away from the position that we where at and look at the entire place. The damage was undeniable as a large part of the place was either trashed to the point of unrepairable or burnt to ashes. But the wolves that are currently within the vicinity, both of Lance' pack and those not of their pack, were frozen and terrified.
I looked down at Lance and he shifted back to his human form unconsciously and I gave a sigh of relief that he was breathing. I gave another sigh of relief before looking at Blake who has somehow calmed down a little bit.
"Blake." I called calmly as I looked at his face. How I missed him so much! "Blake." I called back as I saw his eyes shifted from rage filled to his normal red hue. He slowly looked at me and then at his father.
"Lance!" I heard Mrs. Fang call from a distance. Both our heads snap at her direction. She was accompanied by a tall man with about Lance' age and a couple of others that seemed to stop at the door. "Lance are you alright?" Mrs. Fang sobbed as she grabbed Lance' hand and place it on her cheek. I could see she still have those bandages from her injuries that she had. She knelt down and caressed her mate's cheeks with her other free hand while tears flowed from her own cheeks.
I looked up at the man who was looking down at Lance and then looked at the other wolves and quickly barked orders. Suddenly, everyone where running towards their assigned tasks. Lance was also pulled in a stretcher to the pack's emergency room. Mrs. Fang followed suit as well as the other wolves that doesn't belong to Lance' pack it seems.
I stood there at the same spot as before with Blake who seem to look unfazed and quiet. Staring blankly at the far horizon, Blake remained stoic as he clutched his arm.
"Alpha Aries, I presume." The man from before stood before me holding two robes. I nodded and he courtly handed me the clothes. "Alpha Aries, I would like to introduce myself. I'm Frederick Hunter, Lance' Beta." He extends his hand and I grabbed it and held it firmly. He shook my hand before draping the coat over Blake. "It's nice to meet the man that my son has been raving about."
"Uhm..." I shoot him a confused look.
"Frank." Frederick answers my unspoken question with a smile. "Blake's Best friend." He added.
"Oh." I gaped at him before smiling back. "Nice to meet you. I guess Mr. Hunter."
"Please call me Fred." Fred smiles back. For once, aside from Blake mom and Frank, there's one in Lance' pack who isn't a douchebag. "I heard nice things about you and how good are you with Blake here." My cheeks heats up as dropped my gaze over Blake. "Actually, you look oddly familiar... You don't seem to be..." He trails off before shaking his head. "It can't be." He mumbled before looking back at me again. "Sorry, I might have mistook you for someone else. But anyways, would you like to come in. We could treat your wounds." I was about to decline when he added. "I mean you can keep Alpha Blake calm while your here. He might get agitated when he snapped out from his trance."
I looked at Blake and back at Fred and gave a defeated sigh back. And soon after wards I was in one of Lance' pack patient rooms all patched up and cleaned.
I already visited Zephyr's and Frank's room and it saddens me as well as a deep sign of relief flooded me that they were alright. A few broken bones the doctor said. Blake on the other hand was sleeping soundly in his room. He actually held my hand infront of Fred and the pack doctor when he was being checked out. And I gave a sigh of relief that Fred was smiling at our direction everytime. I can't say the same for the pack doctor.
I rubbed my arm as I leaned against the foyer door frame as I looked outside, feeling the slight soreness from the battle tat have just passed. I heard a knock from the room's door that made me look at it and Fred came in.
"I would like to inform you that Alpha Lance is now fine." Fred looked at me before looking at Blake. "I would like to extend you the pack's deepest gratitude."
"What for?" I asked.
"For saving our Alpha and keeping Alpha Blake from killing his father." He looked at me with sad eyes. "I can't bear to imagine what would Blake's mother would have gone through if things went the other way around."
I nod in response as I gave him a smile of understanding. I looked down at my mate and felt the way he just swooped down out of nowhere and saved me. He just went missing for a few nights ago and now he is here all battered up from a fight with his own father.
I returned my gaze back to Fred and saw him checking Blake's chart at the edge of his bed. I wasn't expecting to see Frank's father to be a dominiring type of man with all that gentle expression he has. Well, I guess that's why he is the Beta.
Fred was putting down the chart when I was approaching the bed. He looks up at me and gave me a smile. I returned with a smile before looking down as I struggle to talk about his son's mate...
"It's been too long since I saw these boys and how they've grown up into strong men in just a few years." Fred spoke with such sadness in his voice. "If only..." He bit his lower lip before composing himself. "I'm sorry, Alpha Aries." I shook my head in response.
"Please call me Aries, Fred." I smiled at him. "No need for formality. I'm still 18 and it sounds too old when you call me that." I chuckled as Fred gave a surprised expression before smiling back in understanding.
"You should know I know you're mate's with Blake. So no need to be shy when I'm around." Fred blurts out making my cheeks burn up. He gave a hearty laugh at my flustered expression. "I figured it out when I saw both of you together... Well, Frank might also hinted on Blake's new interest." He chuckled. "But damn! How do you it?"
"Do what?" I choked as I looked down, quite embarrassed like a highschool girl.
"Not killing each other." He replied with adoration. "I could see you're no push over either. So, it might be tough jingling an ego as big of a Fang." He states as a matter of factly.
"I get around." I chuckled back thinking if the times that I find it adorable on Blake everytime we get into petty arguments. "He looks cute when he's mad sometimes."
"I can relate." Fred chuckled as he clutched his abdomen. "Sorry, I can't help but laugh at a memory."
I smiled at him. Fred is a lot different than most people in Lance' pack, I guess that's why Frank is such a swell guy. But I haven't seen Fred around the pack as far as I remembered, for a Beta, he sure is not around Lance much. Was he not in good terms with Lance or with the pack. But by the looks of it, he was still respected by the pack and still have the power of a Beta in a pack.
"Is there anything bothering you, Aries?" Fred voiced his concern as if he felt the questions running through my mind. "You can ask me anything and I will answer as much to my knowledge." He smiles at me.
"I don't know, Fred. It might be too personal to ask." I replied as I scratch the back of my head.
"Personal you say." Fred mused before shaking his head with a smile. "Oh, you might want to know why I wasn't around the pack." He states as if he read my mind. The expression I had might had have gave it away that he chuckled. "Well, that's easy. I live with my mate." He states.
"Oh, sorry." I answered apologetically. "I should have known but why leave without a standing Beta to take your place?"
"You know Lance' as stubborn as a mule. He doesn't want another Beta besides me for some reason so my dad took back his position once I left." He replied. "It was hard on him to take all the responsibility but I didn't want to risk any dispute between Lance and his father if they found out."
"Why would there be a dispute about you finding your mate?" I asked. Fred pursed his lips and scratched the back of his hair.
"You know about that..." He trailed off. "... Heh, well, because my mate's a guy." He states with a tint of pink on his cheeks. "And you know under Lance' father's reign, same sex mates are quite frowned upon and are ignored like the plague." He states with a frown as if remembering how grim those times were.
"Oh." I gasped surprised. "I didn't know there were wolves with the same situation as us."
"There's a lot out there, even today, somewhere. Most are ashamed or afraid of what their pack would think of them that either they live a life of lie or die alone." Fred states. "Or for those who had the courage to be with their mates are left without a pack." He sighed and looks at Blake with concern. "Lucky for me, Lance was in the same - " Fred paused and looked at me with calculating eyes. "- he was understanding of my situation."
"He sure was not so understanding of his own son's situation." I state.
"There's a lot of things you still don't know about Lance." Fred states. "And by the looks of it, he got worse from what I heard."
"Speaking of Lance, when we were fighting I noticed his eyes where blank. Those were symptoms of losing his sanity." I state. "How can he lose his sanity when he still have his mate around?" Fred stiffen and swallowed a lump on his throat before breathing out.
"It's not looking good. His hold on his sanity is slipping fast. Not when he managed to be sane for 18 years." Fred ponders before biting his lower lip. "After losing... Aries could you excuse me for a minute." Fred started to walk out the door and before I could answer back he was gone. Only the slamming of the door echoed through Blake's room.
I look down at my mate and grasp his hand. Feeling the warmth radiating from it as I find comfort in the upcoming turmoil that's about to unfold.
