Flustered

Hiding her face with the menu card, she muttered, “What the hell is he doing here?”

“How am I supposed to know?” Isabella whispered back.

“Do you think he is following Emma?” Anna gasped.

“Hello, ladies. Anna, Ms. Isabella, and—” Looking at Emma, who still had her face buried behind the menu card, Owen sighed. “What are you doing, Ms. Parker? That's a menu card, not the cloak of invisibility.”

Left with no other choice, Emma lifted her head. “Oh, I am sorry, didn’t see you there.” She nervously chuckled before placing the card on the table.

Pointing towards the empty seat, Owen asked, “Do you mind—?”

“Of course not, please have a seat.” Summoning the waiter, Isabella added, “Let me order a drink for you.”

“Some warm water should be fine, my throat has been quite scratchy since last night,” Owen remarked. “I think it’s because we drank too much alcohol last night, right Ms. Parker?”
