Miserable

When Emma looked at him and smiled, Daniel chuckled. "Maybe a little."

"Well, at least she is pretty." She shrugged.

"Not as pretty as you."

Taken aback by the sudden compliment, she bit her lower lip and lowered her head, trying her best to hide her red cheeks.

"So when are we rescheduling our date?" He was really looking forward to it.

"Well—" She shrugged. "That depends on whether or not you have any more blind dates scheduled."

"I promise, this was the last one." He also reminded himself to talk to his mom and grandmother first thing in the morning.

"You sure about that?" She looked at him. "From what I have heard, I don't think your mom will stop until you actually find a girlfriend."

"Well, can't blame her too." He sighed. "She is doing everything she can to make sure I don't die alone and old."

After keeping quiet for a while, she curiously inquired, "Why don't you date? Are you against dating or something?"
