"Now that's a tough one." Chugging down the leftover champagne directly from the bottle, she said, "I need some time to think."

Her Double Trouble

Not satisfied with his answer, Emma asked him again. "Really?" But this time, Daniel chose to stay silent. 


She wanted to nudge him again; she knew he was mad. But at the same time, she didn't want to make him even angrier. 


'Was he mad because I told him to take someone else to the Gala?' 


As soon as the elevator door opened, Daniel stepped out and walked away without looking at her. 


His sudden cold behaviour made Emma feel very weird. It bothered her a lot. 


She was about to follow him when someone called her. 


"Emma." When she looked at him, Owen said, "I was waiting for you in your office." 


"I was out for lunch," she answered without looking at him. Her eyes were fixed on Daniel, who was entering his office. 


She sighed and looked away when he closed the door after him. 


"Y-Yeah," she smiled. "You were looking for me, right? What happened?" 


"We are going out today after the 2 o'clock meeting."
