CHAPTER 1- BETRAYAL

I'm Arnold, a brave young man with no talent other than a good-looking face. However, it isn't considered a skill. Brandon, my only childhood friend, and I have arrived in Uqbar's capital city. This guy is a natural at everything from housework to combat, but he has a normal appearance. It's not that I'm mocking him; it's just the truth. The city is stunning, but it has a gloomy atmosphere to it.

Actually, I had no intention of coming here, but Brandon works in the royal court and persuaded my mother that he needed help because he had some work to do here. Despite the fact that I turned down his offer, my mother did not. So, in the end, I'll have to put in a lot of effort.

However, on the first day, I have no reason to follow him, so I should go explore the city.

"Brandon I'm going to go for a walk around the neighbourhood, so tell me where we'll be staying; I might stay out late."

"Don't worry, I'll come get you; just come close to the restricted area so it'll be easier to find you than in this crowd."

Was it just my imagination, or did he give me a smirk? So, we'll put it off for now. I have a lot of ground to cover.

Brandon was driven away in a royal carriage. I'm guessing he's in a high-ranking position. When I turned around to walk again, I collided with someone. He appeared to be drunk and debauched

He drew his sword from his belt and swung it at me. I jumped back instinctively, but the sword slashed my clothes and left a deep cut on my chest. Why did he do that, this guy is serious? Why did I just happen to run into him? .....

I clenched my chest, not sure if I was smirking or if I was going insane, but my head was filled with murderous intent. A moment later, everyone kneeled in my direction, and I couldn't understand why that debauched man was kneeling to me after harming me.

But my doubt was dispelled in a matter of seconds. The ground was trembling, the air was turning cold, everyone's faces were turning pale, and I was on the verge of peeing in my pants... ….. Something lurked behind me, like a ferocious beast ready to attack as soon as I turned... I didn't know what to do because the intimidation was so overwhelming. When my knee came into contact with the ground as I slowly turned and knelt down, made a loud noise. I must not look up or I will be killed.

"Who dares to raise a sword in front of me?"

His voice sounded like a ferocious beast, but it was even scarier. Was he referring to me? Suddenly, a group of guards charged in and stabbed the person with the debauched appearance. Nobody made a comment. Everyone was terrified, and I realised it was the king himself.

"Long live the majesty, long live the majesty." While kneeling and facing the ground, the crowd cheered for the king.

The king and his soldiers left, and I went to a nearby shop to get my treatment.

This stuff was terrifying, but it didn't stop me from being more curious more.

I went to investigate the alley after exploring the market. There were dead bodies strewn about in the darkness. If I stayed any longer, the foul odour would kill me. So I turned around, but something struck me in the head. It was as brittle as a log. I couldn't keep my eyes open and passed out.

"old…...nold…...Arnold......"

I slowly opened my eyes to find only dead bodies all around me, along with three people dressed in mas and a man dressed in a royal suit....wait... isn't that it?

"Well, my dear friend, aren't you surprised to see me?"

"What the f*ck is this, Brandon?" "Are you insane?"

I tried to stand up but couldn't because my hands and legs were tied. Something is seriously wrong.

"Well, sir Brandon, what are we going to do with this kid now? I was polite to you because you are our country's only magical swordsman, but taking care of this kid is taking o-"

The henchman was interrupted. But something turned amiss- Why was Brandon's sword out of its sheath and the henchman's head being missing? The other two men are hiding their faces in fear. Brandon, did you just kill someone?

He used magical swordsmanship but wasn't he a merchant by profession?

"As a result, my dear friend, What I'm about to do for you is what you might refer to as my guilty pleasure. I'll sell you to slave traders and leave you to die in this alley; all you'll be able to do is curse me and do nothing. Haha…Hahaha...hahahahahaha"

I was terrified as he laughed and smirked at the same time. Is this my friend, really? Or is he a forger? I don't recall my friend being a magical swordsman, which is the world's rarest profession.

"What are you?" "And where is my friend?"

"You moron, you still don't get it that I've taken off the mask from my face." Says Brandon.

I fainted again after he made me drink a potion, but this time I wish I hadn't because I wanted to ask him a lot of questions.

I was in an alley when I awoke. I was terrified, but I couldn't get any sleep. I was starving but unable to eat. With each passing day, I became more and more of a monster. Every day, I looked for a way out of this alley but always ended up back in the same spot. With no food, I turned into a cannibalistic monster. I didn't like it, but I had no choice but to eat dead bodies in order to survive. I had no food with me, so that was my last resort. Every second, I cursed Brandon.

I have no idea how I look now, but I have vowed to kill Brandon no matter what, even if it means usurping the entire land, even if innocent people die, women are raped, and children are orphaned, I will destroy Brandon and this cursed land and claim it for myself.

After a few months,

I have no idea how much time has passed, but I am certain that I have reached the age of seventeen. As usual, I was looking around the alley when I stumbled upon a gleaming book lying among other books. This could be something that brings me food. I took the book without hesitation and ran as fast as I could, but I guess I was caught stealing. Behind me, another man was sprinting. In the dim light, I couldn't even see his face. In all that farce what I didn't notice was that the book was glowing and I was being overly familiar with the light coming from it.

"Hey, you're the one who stole my book, I said Keep in mind that there are six other people who own these books. Allowing it to fall into their hands is a bad idea. The object in your hands is the one that will make the entire world beg in your presence. Remember to enjoy your life." Said the man chasing me.

I wasn't sure what he said, but after a while, he stopped chasing me. I stumbled and saw a source of light as a result of my carelessness. I went along with it. My heart was racing and I had made it out of the alley. I was crying when the book in my hand began to vibrate. It had something written on it.

"Genghis Khan........The GREAT GENGHIS KHAN"

This was the first time I had heard this name. I opened it out of curiosity because of the unfamiliar name, and it came out with a person capable of killing a tiger, which freaked me out. I was terrified, but I realized I could almost see right through the man in front of me.

"Are you the person who released me?"

His tone was ominous. It was scarier than Uqbar's king. I'd never been much of a fighter, but I realised that if I didn't speak up now, he'd almost certainly kill me.

"Sir, yes." "However, who are you?"

That man burst out laughing. His laugh was devilish, and I couldn't help but tremble in terror.

"I am the one and only great king who made the Earth tremble at the mention of my name." When they heard my stories, people passed out. I am the one who wreaked havoc on the planet for my own amusement. "I am Genghis Khan, the Great."

"However, sir, what is Earth?" out of curiosity I asked.

"Well, it's a parallel world, and I used to be the emperor there, but after conquering the vast lands, I died, and my soul was transferred into the book you're holding."

I discussed everything with him, and after hearing his story, I was blown away. He claims to have conquered all of the land that he can see.

I didn't want to believe him, but I had a feeling he was the key to my vengeance. I'll use this man to take down Brandon and his rotten kingdom, but only in my own way.

"Well, kid, how about we get out of here first? Some people are rushing toward us." He said in a loud voice.

Oh, I was so enthralled by him that I forgot the dark guild had sent its members into the alleys to murder the homeless and those fleeing.

Until now, I've been running away from everything, but Brandon, just wait. Right now, the thing you should be most afraid of is me. I'm going to kill you.

I knew I shouldn't be smiling and laughing, but I couldn't help myself.

Arnold, the calamity, is coming for your heads, citizens of Uqbar. I'm going to wreck this country. Just wait for a little time, Brandon; for the time being, the destruction of this nation is my guilty pleasure.
