SAGA OF OSWERTH

Like every saga there must be a beginning.

From the book of Tales:

Saga of Oswerth,

For the Grand-prince Devern, Midwaren 8:50

In the old records son of a normal man and rusalka. In the modern ones son of a man and a fairy.

Ruler of the Great Principality of Kiever. Founder of the Ruthanow dynasty. The longest ruling family in Kiever.

Our story begins with a man called Sorren. Once there was a local warlord called Sorren.

Always battling nearby tribes. Always.

Our story begins some two or three decades before Sorren. The small settlement started expanding during the reign of Oswerth`s grandfather. The settlement had the first statues dedicated to the Gods. Traders from everywhere came to the settlement.

From the book of Tales:

The settlement changed shape, from a small village to city. More and more foreigners gather to the settlement. The Grand-prince had other plans, to expand the city, to fortify the wooden walls.

The wooden walls stood from the time of his grandfather. Even if they`re iron-wood, they couldn`t stand a heavy siege.

So, Oswerth started searching for a different type of wood or stone. Stone would be great.

There were rumors about a magical type of wood. The type of wood that can stand for thousand years. The grand-prince searched far and wide for the magical wood. The wood only grows in the region of Thorrein. A new god is on the horizon. Yarwan.

The statues stood there for five thousand years. Like they were placed yesterday.

While he was away the Rewarten attacked. With the valiant defense the Rewarten were defeated.

The prince returned with the magic wood. After the battle his wife waited for him to return.

Every single day. So ends the fragment of the saga of Oswerth.

At least the translated one. The prince ruled for many years.

Some call him the founder of the modern state of Newerth.

We only know about his ruling life. About his personal life we know nothing. Who knows what else we will find.
